from my perspective ZL always seem to maintain a noble idiocy silence with A Sen and never seem to explain things properly to him, so he might not see the full picture that viewers see. also maybe A Sen had some guilt because he told YuCheng about his mum’s death and he thought that might have contributed to his decision to sacrifice himself.
