What a crappy way to end all the hard effort Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk did so far.
Oh God! How right you are. Makes me so sad thinking how they will be taking in all the criticism about their drama which I myself can't help but do the same as well.
The one and only reason I started watching this drama was Kim Taeri. It wasn't because of the story or any other reason. I regret watching the show but I didn't regret watching Kim Taeri. That's all I could say. I won't bother rating this drama because it's not going to be on my list anymore. But well a 10/10 to you Taeri unni and Nam joohyuk oppa.
I didn't feel angry with the way 'Mr. Sunshine' and 'Reply 1988' ended. I cried watching their finale and I sympathised with the whole story, understood it and felt the pain. All I could say was " How beautiful the story was, what great direction, what great acting it was."
But I can't say the same for 2521 as I have wanted to when I started watching it. All I can say now is " I wish I never started watching this nonsensical drama and wasted my time." Sorry for those who still like it. But as for me,the spoilers of the last ep literally turned the drama into something I would never actually watch if I knew.
I'm all in for sad endings. I'm fine with sad endings. But this? This isn't a sad ending. This is just a major incompetent drawback on the writer's part because nothing makes sense. Even an open ending doesn't make sense. This last ep has too many loopholes. They just brushed it up without proper characterization or direction. They rushed the ending. It almost seems like they purposely tried to wrap it as a sad ending so as to meet people's expectation of the drama being realistic but they failed at it terriby because it's the most unrealistic finale I have ever seen.
This is one of those moments where I really don't feel like watching an episode and I probably won't. I saw the tid bits on Twitter and well it really doesn't make sense. Yurim went to Russia. Even they made it. Seungkwan got together with Yijin's brother and meanwhile the mc who understood each other the best ,more than anybody else doesn't. If they weren't suppose to be together, the sidestories should have had some loopholes as well, that would have been realistic at the very least. This one just seems like they are forcing the moral of the story onto the mc while the rest lives in a dreamland. It's so odd and out of context. They just destroyed every last bit of love I had for this drama.
After reading the leaked synopsis,I feel they did much injustice to the story. I don't mind sad endings and I did assume it better be a sad ending when I listened to the song 2521 early into the drama because that would be very on point with what the song wants to convey. But why my stance has changed now? Because Yijin and Heedo aren't like the typical teenagers who just fell in love for the sake of being in love. The drama portrayed them as people who had great understanding and insight for each other, who respected one other's spaces and career, bringing in the maturity element to action which I'm looking for in a relationship. Even after all the pain, endurance and hardships, they stood by each other which honestly if you ask me is almost unrealistic considering Heedo's age to have such great lengths of understanding. But if that be how she and Yijin is portrayed, they should end up together. Because if they don't even when all the very much necessary elements of a relationship are present, it's senseless. It's hollow and their is no morality to the story which they have been trying to put into every episode. If they pull off the very Americanised version of 'We just don't love each other anymore' without valid reason, it's really going to destroy such a beautiful story. It will literally bring the rating of the whole drama down in my eyes.
Oh Gosh people stop crying. They got married to each other. Can't you see the little eyebrow lift from Yijin? And Heedo said 'She will take care of everything, support him from wherever she is'. It's so evident she had to go for the games in San Francisco and couldn't be with him for a while from this sentence. They are just going congratulating each other as reporter and athele on tv. God you all be crying. Here I'm already celebrating.
I do feel minchae is heedo's own child. What if after they fall in love,Baek Yijin got opportunities to move further ahead in his career meaning to sacrifice his persinal life and Yijin no matter how much he loved heedo,he knew of the hardships he faced having no money, having to stoop down infront of others. So he had to let na heedo go. Eventually heedo got married to somebody else instead and had minchae. Meanwhile Yijin is still single. Forgetting the beach part may either have been part of an accident or just forgotten memories since people can forget what they did back in highschool,it does happen. I think I find this theory the most plausible one. The rest I read seem to have loopholes one way or the other.
I love this drama so much that I hate the feeling of knowing they very likely won't end up together which make me detest watching the remaining episodes. I wish the writer just kept all these qns and doubts for the final episode instead. I don't mind sad or happy endings, just that knowing it beforehand plays with the emotions.I don't even watch any other drama/movie if I already know the ending, spoils the fun but it's because of you Kimtaeri, joohyuk and the retro vibe that I'm sticking to it.Going through this rollercoster every time a new episode airs really does frustrate me whenever I think they won't end up together.
To my star tops everything and where your eyes linger was good enough. Found these two are the only Korean BLs I find worth watching. Now Semantic error might climb the list too.
But well a 10/10 to you Taeri unni and Nam joohyuk oppa.
