I agree, to think that other actors can get taken off shows for less, but this is still going strong with him as the lead. I feel bad for everyone else involved with this production, but it’s not watchable with him in it.

Yes! In episode 2 I was like “wait a minute”. It’s like Gone with wind, but also like a French books series that was very heavily inspired by (it actually plagiarized) Gone with the wind called “The blue bicycle”, but that was set during World war 2. I looked it up and My dearest is indeed openly inspired by Gone with the wind. So this is the South Korean version of the story. Or at least the beginning is. I think it’s really beautifully made and fun to see the take on the characters in this setting. I really enjoy the dynamic and I really think it’s well done and interpreted to the time period, people and war.

That’s weird, because for years Kmovies and dramas have had fluffy romantic ones, but def also the extremely dark, thriller sociorealiatic ones. I’m a westerner and one of my absolute favourite revenge films is Sympathy for lady vengeance, which is from 2005 and in a trilogy with Old boy. How are those films any different in darkness from Mask girl 😅it’s delusional to think that this is some new western pandering.
