Ultimately, noble idiocy in and of itself is not a bad or unrealistic plot device. When done well, we can relate to the characters and understand the need for their separation. When done poorly, we are left with a bitter taste that makes us throw our computers across the room. Either way, here’s to seeing noble idiocy only on our screens!

Encounter has a brief break up and it helped the storyline. Others saw the leads were right for each other, chaos unfolding would have caused more harm FL had to finish the fight with her ex/ML.
A brief break up is what we should expect, the elusive villain, Keystone Cops/Security are always deployed to draw out the story.
The rookie mistake is expecting the story to unfold smoothly, without viewers becoming enraged yelling at their screens!

It would be boring if there was no uncertainty regarding the fantasy/magic component.
We were taken on a journey, a love story between the ML and FL.

Eu Wol tells ML the owner of the box showed up and she may be able to lift his curse/disease.
Shamans (FL/Gardner) Hallucinations of past lives (both have them, initially only ML) Spells/Curses are cast.
We see a bloody hand.
We see ML/FL in present day, Joseon period meet and develop a relationship. The writer/director weave in the past into the present to unroll this drama.
They are convinced Spells don't work briefly by 2ML. ML tries to find rational reasons why Spells don't work b/c timing isn't right, FL has a one-sided crush on 2ML.
ML was trying to act heartbroken EP3 with regards to Nayeon.
The Spells have requirements, when they failed we saw reasons why: FL made a mistake on writing the symbol. Gardener was also casting Spells to undo FL Spells.
EP14 is tying up the loose ends and no one should be confused about Spells, this a fantasy.

Encounter did the same thing brief break up, time apart and I understood why FL wanted to shield ML, his family from the fight with he ex, his family.
It's unrealistic to expect both parties to agree, communicate perfectly on everything.
Secondary characters incl 2ML are unimportant, this is primarily about the leads.

He learns later on she was bullied, transferred to new school, befriended, bullied again and ultimately dropped out.
ML becomes a Hot Mess and the cringeworthy comedy gold of pursuing FL begins in earnest after drinking the Love Potion intended for 2ML.
ML gets drunk, dropped off at her place and FL drives him home, stops at park b/c he feels sick.
EP7 2FL slaps FL blaming her for going behind her back and holding hands, kissing her "fiancé" .
FL returns the Spell Books to ML. ML does kiss Hong Jo for the first time.
EP8 FL clears up the record ML acted nuts b/c of Spells, was drunk but 2FL omits the kiss from last night.
2FL tells FL she may have a stalker, the photos sent of FL/ML that were evidence of the interfering with ML.
Non-linear storytelling may be aiding in the confusion.
