I am so glad you mentioned this. Especially since we now are witnessing their children's hardship. First, Changee's family is murdered and she undergoes a horrific experience witnessing the death of her family, friends, and herself becoming a slave. Now, with Madame Gongsun's daughter, she has lost her parents. While I don't sympathize with Princess Yicheng's son for his actions I can surmise that he has experienced cruelty. Although with Ashile Sun we don't know much about him yet, he also has faced the cruelty of war and now has lost a mother. In regards to Le Yan, she is also the child of Emperor Taizong and her storyline provides the theme of innocence and loss of innocence as she is kidnapped by human traffickers and becoming a victim and survivor.
