Mature, developed, layered, interesting, and beautiful drama
This romance drama is truly a gem and such a treat to watch. The whole team worked together to create a beautiful, engaging, enjoyable love story between two imperfect people. From the cinematography, to the script wring, directing, acting, and costuming, the quality is elevated from other typical dramas.
The acting is fantastic. We have deeper, more complex and interesting characters. Not only are the leads great in portraying their characters and love but the rest of supporting cast were wonderful. They all contributed to drawing out all our emotions through the story. The drama does a great job pacing the action, moving the plot along, developing the relationship and interactions between our leads as well as dropping clues of other relationships. Keeps the viewers curious and interested in seeing the story unfolds. And actions for the most make sense. No weird “why did they do that” behavior/ actions.
Additionally, it intersperses humor in the situation as well and conversations. I wish I were a native speaker and could catch on to the full breadth of it. While I can only get a hint of it, it’s still pretty funny. We also enjoy the varying dynamics of different environments and peoples, from the old neighborhood where she resides to the corporate workplace to the startup company vibe.
The costuming & background team are great. The characters are dressed impeccably for their roles and elevate the visuals for the audience. Love how they put in the effort to differentiate the two worlds. the VR characters & setting look almost unreal and amazing vs the real life characters (still gorgeous but more grounded on earth). Since this is a drama centered around architecture, we get to feast our eyes on some pretty amazing structures. We’ve seen the elegant and gorgeous hotel on the island, Dynaism’s spartan yet modern building, and the rival’s cool and cold courtyard.
The background music and sound effects is probably the weakest point for me. However, the main song (special night) which annoyed me a bit at the beginning grew on me and I ended up falling in love with it at the end. It’s how well they juxtaposed it with the storytelling. I also enjoyed the interesting drum and beat in some of the music. It gave a nice r&b/jazzy vibe.
It’s going on my rewatch list for sure.
Enjoy this drama - it’s not a cookie cutter not shallow.
