I hope not, he’s had a hard life and is surely seeking revenge, otherwise he wouldn’t be against the Chancellor.I…
Yeah, if he didn’t mention it, perhaps the Chancellor might propose an even worse punishment for XJ. Even if Xu Jingfu miraculously decided not to say anything about the punishment, someone else would. Why are we pretending as if XJ didn’t have half the court as his enemies. What kind of person would want to see their enemy escape punishment. Fact is, XJ would have been punished even if CZ didn’t mention it. Only difference is what type of punishment he’ll get. I dislike CZ and can list many stuff he’s done but XU Jingfu will have to take credit regarding XJ’s punishment. Let’s blame the right culprit

No dude, XJ would still receive punishment even if CZ didn’t say anything about it because like I said, he did broke military rules by going out without permission. I get that you dislike or hate that Chu zhao guy but if you wanna blame him, at least find a suitable reason. Chancellor Xu would never let such a good opportunity pass. That old fox can’t wait to hurt and humiliate XJ. XJ might even get more than 20 sticks if no one spoke up for him and leave Xu Jingfu to spout nonsense to the emperor’s ears. XJ getting caned and humiliated like this isn’t something that happens for the first time, Xu Jingfu did the same thing to him after his father just passed away.

Chu Zhao can be said to be selfish and hypocritical and may have done loads of bad things but XJ getting caned is definitely not his idea. He always wanted to have a good impression in front of the emperor so he defo won’t beat around the bushes to have XJ get punish like that. He’s done so many shitty stuff so why is XJ getting caned the main focus here lol

Things definitely makes more sense there cuz the author actually explain everything in detail, so detail that you can barely find anything wrong or any plot holes. Novel also have much less romance than the drama, they focus much more on Heyan

The novel is pretty good, it’s just that it isn’t as fast pace as the drama version. Try checking it out

Uh yeah I forgot about that crying moment. In the novel, instead of crying, she instead went on a killing spree. They changed it in the drama. Quite annoying.

No. Romance isn’t my main focus in this drama. I’m a fan if this novel and wants to see more of HY’s character development and her journey in getting her revenge.

Drama changed a lot of things which is quite annoying and disappointing. For the water scene in the novel, that scene is supposed to happen in Jiyang where XJ held her hand and jumps into the water not knowing that she fears water after being killed by drowning. In the drama, we were supposed to get a scene where XJ rode his horse to find her but that part was cut off so we only get the part where he suddenly appeared in the water.

Personally, the part where she cries doesn’t bother me that much. She’s a powerful general but she’s also a human with emotions. She thinks that XJ might die so she loses her composure and let her guard down. This is quite out of character for her but it’s also somewhat understandable.

..Anyway, the current situation of the drama is beyond saving. They cut too much scenes due to censorship issues, making some situations confusing. If you want to see a better version of the story then go read the novel. You’ll understand the plot much better and you’ll get to see a stronger version of the main leads.

probably when he told the emperor about her identity
Her identity as general feihong will be publicly revealed later during some banquet. The emperor won’t know about the identity swapping until that moment

I’m dying to know what Conversation took place between the ML and the Emperor!!!
He told the emperor about HY being a woman so that the emperor won’t punished her when her gender got exposed later in court

That Li kuang guy seems like a decent man from the way Qi Luo described him. It was the war and the pressure of the city falling that stresses him out and make him have this borderline madness. He probably would never resort to these lowly methods if the situation isn’t so dire. Only thing she didn’t really know about him is how misogynistic he can be and how he would view women who are violated.
And what do you expect in your second paragraph? Even the god of war himself wouldn’t be able to win in this situation alone with no help tf. The city is surrounded, out of food and is severely outnumbered. There’s a limit to everything. And the only thing XJ did was bring the reinforcements, something he’ll do even if HY is not there waiting to be saved.
She is a general who command armies, not some god that can emerge victorious single-handly. It’s kinda ridiculous how you expect her to win that war with no help

Didn’t he say something along the lines of “General fengyun may have defended Jiyang but he still leave the garrison without permission. Still, his achievements outweigh his faults..” and then he proceeded to asked the emperor to show leniency. He didn’t directly asked for XJ to receive punishment, he asked the emperor to lightens them. XJ leaving the garrison is indeed wrong and should receive punishment as per military rules.
In ep 24, CZ said that it was the chancellor’s idea to offer fair rewards and punishment (tho I don’t see any reward for XJ). HY doesn’t receive any punishment was probably because of the fact that she’s just following her commander’s commands. I agree with everything else you said tho

XJ being punished is Xu Jingfu’s idea, not Chu Zhao’s. And I won’t deny that he’s scheming and uses underhanded tricks a lot but let’s be fr here, he isn’t even half as bad as his teacher and HRF, why waste efforts hating on him? His character is just some additional problems created for the main leads

Reading novel and watching drama, i wonder on one question.why the He family and later Xu family(she married into]…
Its quite simple. The He family only values their son so as soon as HY gave the title to HRF, she automatically became useless and discardable. They’re scared that leaving her unharmed might cause them trouble in the future so they blinded her and later killed her. For her ex husband, he only married her so he can use her family’s status to become a Hanlin scholar. Xu Zhiheng dislike her because she is unlady-like and is disgusted by the scars on her body. Tbh I don’t think what they felt for her is hatred, they simply doesn’t care about her. She’s just a chess piece to them, something that can be sacrificed when the time comes.

XJ getting punished is Xu Xiang’s idea. CZ isn’t bold enough to directly ask the emperor to punish XJ. You’re right on the last part tho

I think you’re just biased and only dreaming about ML + FL. The real bad guy here is the FL’s brother.
I think the guy is a bit too scheming and selfish but the word evil might be too strong for him. He’s more like a morally great character.

Xu jingfu also uses him so why can’t he do the same? Chu Zhao has been abused and neglected since childhood and his life only got better when his master noticed him. Is it weird to cling onto someone in hope for a better life? And he is somewhat against the chancellor, he knew at some point that his teacher has gone too far and is willing to cooperate with HY and XJ to get rid of him

It’s a misunderstanding. It’s about his father’s death in the battle of mingshui. I’ve read the leaked script, he points his sword at her throat and even makes her neck bleed. Feinu even wanted to kill her right then and there because of the misunderstanding
