Totally new K Drama Genre
UPDATE AFTER REWATCHING: I did not want to bother you again. However, I was attempted to re-watch and the series look totally different. Knowing the story, probably I was focussing on the big picture and details. The drama is well made, the acting is absolutely great. Yes, the story is a bit absurd and the father in law is a joke (why does he have to be so over???). When you simply accept or ignore these parts, the drama is great to watch.UPDATE: I watched till the end. I cried for hours not because of the ending but because the acting was amazing and touching. LMH convinced me as a mature man, one of his best actings at the end of the show. GHJ is anyway always great. However, the story became even more confusing, too many sidelines and loose ends. And the love story could have been better told at the end. Overall, no reason to hate this show, just ignore or like it.
I also was confused by the first episodes and did not like the story, a lot about space, fertilisations. Now I understand that it was a prelude. It is about love, commitment and humanity. For a K-drama fan, the beginning was very new, therefore, somehow senseless. From Ep 8, the rhythm of K-dramas takes over and you can enjoy the romance. The love story is even stronger because of the beginning, the prelude. I watched the last few episodes several times because the dialogues are beautiful and I could focus on the actors. It is a wonderful love story, hopefully till the final episodes.

Getting better and better
Not an attractive title but I totally agree to Moon’s review that this drama is wonderful after you watched till the end. It took me several attempts until I watched till the mid part and then the story caught me. The love story took over and the weird start was almost forgotten. I am still not the fan of the psycho aspect of the story also do not like the bullying over-acting colleagues. No idea whether this should be funny, it was just very annoying. The male lead got very strong, just watching Ro-Woon falling in love made my day:-) one of his strongest performances. Also the second male lead was lovable. As the reviewer Moon said the ending part is beautiful and you leave this drama with a big smileWas this review helpful to you?
Beautiful lovestory with beautiful actors
After the third time I have watched this series, I need to share this. I see all the different reviews and I am glad that we all are so different. If you need something cheering you up and giving you some good time and you like romance, watch this. The love story between these two leads is surprisingly convincing, the chemistry between them works very well. It is a slow paced show, no action or big drama, sometimes we need it. The fashion images, the beautiful actors also help to enjoy. It is like floating in a calm river, very relaxing. Was this review helpful to you?
Watch the briefer version
One of my favourite dramas and how I became a huge fan of both FL and ML. And the story is beautiful so I watch it again and again. The drama is a 10/10, however: you need to skip ep 6-14. The mom role is unbearable, also the male managers of the coffee company are a joke. Really if you ignore them largely, the love story is wonderful to watch. Was this review helpful to you?
Great drama for grown ups
I read the other reviews with high scores and now understand better why I like this drama. It is probably the first and only K drama where Korean stories are told with sincerity, no silly fun, with grown ups. I guess that the drama shows today’s dating culture, family life and social issues realistically. I have the impression that this is with grown ups for grown ups. Therefore, very educating and interesting. It is also very entertaining as it is well written and produced. I agree with the other reviews that the acting was great. For unknown reasons, the FL is quite annoying thus the lower rate. Actually she is a phantastic actor but here her role could be a bit toned down. Overall a lovely drama to watch multiple timesWas this review helpful to you?
Get’s better and better like vine
After finishing When the Stars Gossip, I had to re-watch this show to see LMH again:-)Most of the lead actors have become K drama stars; love story is convincing like a fairy tale:-), two teens growing up together; two male leads are a perfect match (even in height:-) and show a perfect rivalry; realistic growth models of the lead characters; good examples of chaebols; convincing different sets of family structures; cohesive story lines; nice people; nice pictures. Although it is about school kids and I am almost hundred years old, I enjoy the show. But you need to be used to K dramas to like this:-) there are easier stories to start your career in K dramas (eg CLOY, lawyer Woo)

Such a sweet drama with a new star
The title did not attract me and also not the names of the actors. However, from episode 2 onwards, the charme of the story and the actors caught me. I laugh and smile while watching as the FL is sassy (totally normal:-) to the king, so shocking for the old Joseon days:-) Very funny this combination of an independent and strong FL and the king expecting people to kneel and bow in front of him. Funnier as he is actually a very young man:-) I saw in other reviews all the old FL vs young ML discussions. Hello, we are in 2025 and still discuss that someone is 10 years older? As actors? Do you see this age difference in the roles? And if so, who cares? Just enjoy the funny and strong Yoona and Chaemin who plays a non-highschool student the first time. I think he will be one of the leading actors of his generation. Also enjoy the great food presentations! Very interesting how the Korean cuisine has evolved. Just a good K drama with a new twistWas this review helpful to you?
Sweet but very slow drama
The reviewer Rohit summarised it on spot, the drama is so slow. I was wondering what made me a bit uncomfortable, and it was the pace of the story and also the drama flow. I love SJK, however, I am not sure whether he was the right cast. Probably because he has all the sunshine of life on his side and to see him in a life full of poverty, challenges und bad luck (and also with the bad hair style), it does not feel right. Luckily he is a great actor and also CWH pulled it through, so the drama was enjoyable. Maybe the entire story is strange, a CEO loyal to her husband who is a loser (does not care of his two kids), a kid star becoming a poor student living alone and even raising his young sister while his dad lives with a rich CEO. In summary, I enjoyed watching as it is a nice and warm romantic drama with a lot of great actors. Was this review helpful to you?
Sweet drama about 17 but for non-teens as well
I ignored this drama for years as I thought it is for teens and discovered that it is for everyone! The other reviews great and to the point. The drama is indeed healing, romantic, simply nice and peaceful to watch. I just want to add to the other reviews that towards the end when the past is revealed, Seori suddenly becomes more mature than Wujin and their dynamics reversed. Super interesting to see this is happening within 5 min. So well written and acted.
If you want to watch a good K drama, a lovely story about growing up and about great friendships, this is the one.

Thank you to the amazing staff. A modern way to tell a drama in 1988
Guys, because of your reviews, I have started to watch this series and can confirm that you are absolutely right! At first glance, it looked like the standard 50 episode family K-dramas (you know: mean mother in-law, chaebols, poor families…) so I ignored this series. As I like some of the leads, I wanted to give a try and read your reviews.
Although everything looks like in the 80th, it is a very modern drama. The dialogues, acting, the stories are done in a modern way. Even the comedian parts are modern, not silly and exaggerated anymore. The look and story reflect the 80th perfectly, honestly. I am not a fan of the historical dramas but this can also play in any period. It is about families, friendships and love anywhere, anytime. You watch these families, friends and lovers and you just enjoy them. No idea why this drama makes me happy and peaceful. Maybe this is the secret of excellent movie/drama making. Thank you to the amazing staff behind R88

A supersweet and wise story
Because I have become a huge fan of Jang Ki Young (after Now, we are breakin up, Dynamite Kiss), I discovered this K-drama. So glad as this is a beautiful story, great acting and feel good romantic one. Both leads but also the second leads are supernice to watch. Also great to see Park Kyoung Hye acting a normal person. She has been in roles with exaggerations and has annoyed me. The best part is when the love lines of famous books are cited, such a wonderful reminder and it makes the drama so wise. The only disturbance is that most of the fellow students went through plastic surgery, rather the bad ones. People do not look like this in Korea. But just ignore this and focus on the romanceWas this review helpful to you?
Such a sweet and hot rom com
Well done! My fellow reviewer is right, the story starts hot. And till now episode 10, the drama remains hot. Very unusual for a K-drama, however, also decently made and shown:-)The story is a bit flat but enjoyable as it flows nicely and easy to watch. No big drama, simply a super sweet romantic comedy with two well known actors who have become leads in this drama. And they are wonderful together, great chemistry. The ML was already cute in NOW WE ARE BREAKING UP, but here, he is great. A new star! And we know the FL from THE HOSPITAL LIST, here, she has become a beautiful superstar with great comedian talent. Just to see the transformation of these two leads is a good reason to watch this relaxing melo. I am very sure that the story ends well and the temperature is kept high
