I started watching twice and dropped twice after 11 eps. Don’t try.
Almost everything is wrong with this drama except perhaps the costumes. Nothing else hold any water. Let me start
Casting / Acting
Mostly annoying acting by almost every major character except ML. Even so he has a constant sour face. I never really warm up to this actor because he is not naturally cheerful looking. The rests of main cast are super annoying. FL only knows how to have this wide eye look as though inviting people to admire her big eyes. To be honest her eyes are so fake you can see the eyelid surgery lines and it’s so thick. Not natural hence what’s there to admire. Also her lips and everything is a bit asymmetrical. So for her to act pretty most of the time when she should be really acting is so annoying. I am starting to dislike this actress who probably should go back and be a supporting cast. True good FL don’t do this to gain attention. They act. Next is the sister. OMG I want to slap that woman or shall I say child. The drama cannot decide if she is an adult or a small kid. She throws stupid tantrums even when everyone is in danger. She doesn’t seem to understand logic as a grown person who is supposed to be mature enough to roam jianghu on her own. Then there is the little girl Lian. Gosh how ill mannered can a child be? Talk to adults in such a rude way and worse, blame others for everything. And yet the FL was indulging in her. I really wanna stop watching those village scenes then. Then the Fourth Prince. Again eh grow up and listen to more experienced people. Stop acting smart when you can’t take care of yourself properly. These are the main characters you see 90% of the time. Enough said … tried very hard to watch but 11 eps of them is almost the max.
Storyline - not bad actually. But it’s so slow. Cmon how long do we need to go round in circles to crack counterfeit money issue. Move on already. Let the villain plot something else. Let more reveals happen. 11 eps and I don’t see anything fresh from Ep 1. And then this super slow burn romance of yes and no. Eh. It’s not that hard to make them decide since they are married. I wonder if there is such a thing as you ask to marry a guy then you don’t want to sleep with him from day one and he allows that. So virgin marriage to a guy and he doesn’t seem interested in the other wives. So that make him virgin husband to four wives. Realistic or stupid? At least show some realism in life too. Show him spending time with the other women even though they are political marriages he should and need to keep them happy and satisfied too. Even emperor has to do that!
Not sure what else to say but in summary you have the most annoying cast and characters combined, terribly slow pacing storyline that never moves on, super unrealistic ML and how he handles his life and woman.
Regret giving this a second chance and wasted exactly 11 Eps of time yet again!
