“Purest love”? What does that even mean? For me it means to love someone unselfishly. To put their health and happiness above my own without wanting anything in return. Jing was always selfish when it came to XY. He wanted her to stay with him despite having a fiancée. How does that look to everyone else? He wanted her to wait even though he didn’t have the spine to defy his crazy toxic family. That is not “pure” love.

I mean at the end though. She’ll be with Jing but I just want some acknowledgments for our boy.

You know, all I’m hoping for them to change is for XY to fully know the scope of what XL did for her and to truly know the immense love that he has for her. Probably more so than Jing because it’s a unselfish kind of love….I want Jing to thank his lucky stars that XL never tried to pursue XY or else he would’ve been left in the dust.

I think my biggest issue is that you want character development in the leads.. So far Jing has none. But perhaps in S2 he will….

I wish they would do a post production clip of XY and XL meeting in modern time. That way it would satisfy every one.

Mine too. There’s so much nuances to his character unlike Jing which is a shame because I do love Deng Wei. But XL……that man’s eyes are so expressive.

Ok not going to lie, that last line made me cry. Never have I loved a character more.

I think from the beginning she cared more forXL than jing. Remember she only kept the memory of him in the mirror…But the more she spent time with Jing, the more he convinced her of his commitment. Unlike XL. However she has a deeper connection with XL than anyone else. I like to say that her heart is with Jing, but her soul is with XL.

On an interview he mentioned that most directors see him as one with delicate features and so that’s why there weren’t many roles for him. He wanted to do one that was the opposite and challenging for him. Thank God someone decided he would be perfect as Xiang Liu. He killed this role!

I love Deng Wei but yes his character had zero development. He let people walk all over him constantly. I know he’s kind and gentle but you can still be that way but with more ummm backbone. It is frustrating.

Actually having a ‘bad boy’ go through a redemption growth does mean he’s multidimensional. It means that person is willing to change and grow. It also means that there’s many facets to his personality and therefore dimensions.

I think it’s because too good of a character has very little depth or layers to them. They are one dimensional. It’s hard to have character growth when you’re practically perfect. Unlike our lovable demon who went through quite the redemption arc.

I just want to say that Jing is XY ‘s life mate. However, XL is her soulmate. While she loves Jing and he heals her heart but no one truly understands her the way XL does. Jing is very singular. All he wants is to be with her and love her. And yes he would die with her and for her. But XL’s love has more depth and it’s all encompassing. While Jing seeks to protect the one he loves, XL seeks to ensure that the one he loves will never need another’s protection. He gives her all the things she never knew she needed….including her life mate.

I just want XY to fully understand the love that XL has for her. I’m ok with his tragic ending.

In the drama too. Their mothers were sisters.

If only she knew the significance of the poisonous bug. That it required love from the person that you want it to transfer to for it to actually work… that could’ve made all the difference and she probably wouldn’t have made that promise to Jing.

Sorry I meant that in a symbolic way. She didn’t want his breath because it would be like kissing and to do so will make her start dreaming of what they could be to each other. And that is what she’s afraid of.

Mine too….. I have never wanted a drama to deviate from the novel so bad….
