Not going to lie, I cried when he called her “princess”.

It’s their chemistry. If they don’t have chemistry, their looks is only going to take the drama so far.

She did try to say something. He stopped her and told her to not decide right now.

It’s amazing. Very well done. However it’s not one of those drama you can just rush through. Its a coming of age story so the romance takes awhile.

Yesterday when I expressed that Li Xun needs to apologize to zhu yan for what he did to her in the past , people got quite defensive. So now he’s hurt her again with his cruel words. Thankfully he finally did apologize…

I agree with you. He was not in the right frame of mind then. For him to go that route was to intentionally punish himself. However if he was clear headed he would’ve been able to find a way to get back. Now it would be more difficult since his nemesis has much more money and power at their disposal.

Li Xun is a freaking genius. I believe he could’ve found a way to get back at FZJ if he wasn’t so enraged (deservedly so). But this is a drama. There needs to be conflict for entertainment purposes.

And yet it comes full circle because now he’s still trying to get revenge in a different way besides violence so there’s your example. And being mean to someone because you want to protect them is BS. Zhu Yun is an intelligent woman and she can make her own decisions. I don’t blame him for beating FZJ. However with Li Xun’s intellect he could’ve brought him down without it. Like he’s going to do now….

There are many ways to get revenge but Li Xun chose violence. Even though it was zhu yan that pulled him into her issues but it’s his arrogance that made him an enemy of FZJ. and Gao. I hate Gao but I can’t help but wonder if Li Xun treated Gao better things could’ve been different. The one and only person he needs to apologize to is zhu yan. She was willing to do anything and everything to be with him. The things he did and said to her was completely cruel. Yes supposedly “for her own good”. Just like her parents keeping her from him “for her own good”. Because of all their good intentions it led to her depression. She’s an adult she can make her own decisions. Truth be told I love Li xun and Zhu Yun flaws and all. But their love seems to be an unequal one. Also there’s no excuse for him to be mean to her after he got out of jail. But yet he does…..

He definitely needed to apologize. In fact he should’ve groveled. He betrayed the only person that was ever only loyal to him.

If you don’t watch the past you won’t understand the characters as much. Nor have empathy and attachments to them.

I really really want to like this drama since I love both leads but man it’s really hard to get into this show. The blank expressions on Xu Kai’s face is killing me. He’s usually a very emotive actor. But I guess the character that he plays is very boring. I really wish I can feel the leads chemistry but for now it’s completely nonexistent. Hopefully it will get better…..

I think it’s all about the chemistry between the leads. Some just can’t do kiss scenes for a variety of reasons despite being a good actress/actor. For example the FL here was a lead in Fall in Love and the kisses in there felt forced. In this it was so natural. Perhaps she gained more confidence or perhaps she has more chemistry with Chen Feiyu because they are the same age.

They’ve got some serious chemistry. The kiss scenes were so natural that it almost feels too intimate to watch…

I can see where you are coming from. In many ways I agree. Li xun is not an easy character to like. He’s antisocial, narcissistic, and selfish. If something doesn’t benefit him in some way, he doesn’t want to waste his time on it. If he treated Gao as a friend and patiently guided him and be more understanding instead of constantly belittling him, things would probably be different. In the beginning I hated the way he was with the FL. But once I understood his character better, I learned to appreciate all the little things he’s willing to do for her.. Li Xun is a man of very few words and nearly just as much action. Everything he does and say is precise and intentional. He is a man of efficiency. To him, making friends and socializing is a waste of time. That’s why his friendship with the FL is so out of character. She is the only one who’s opinion he values. The only one he listens to, laughs with, and who he lets down his guard with. While these things seems trivial but it is a great deal coming from someone who has sociopathic tendencies. Perhaps that is the reasons for her attraction to him.

I agree. The way they look at each other is so intense.

36 episodes doesn’t seem like it’s going to be enough for this type of storyline. WRtW was 36 and the editing was quite choppy. Political dramas are usually drawn out.
