I feel like the director likes navigating to shows where the male and female leads are mature adults. This, Blossoms…
Totally love it! Loved The Long Ballad (which was a show that surprised me because I didnât have any expectations). Now this! Iâm glad they made changes from the novel because the leads sound much more mature and likeable here
yes but unlike the leads in the Long Ballad... these two have sizzling chemistry
Haha I was one of the few that liked the main couple in The Long Ballad. It wasnât sizzling chemistry but it was still a nice and healthy relationship. Funny thing is I went into both dramas unsure of how things would play out given the age gap (although itâs not a big deal since we have older actors work with younger actresses). Ended up liking both
I knew that death camp belongs to him, poor girl though
Thatâs twisted. I wonder if it was the case in the novel. Heard that he wasnât a detestable character there. Wondering if they made him less likeable here (while making FSG more of a gentleman) to really cut things off between FYX and XJS from the get go.
Ah so we have the same directors who filmed The Long Ballad! I really liked that drama (was also a pleasant surprise for me at the time it aired). I can see the parallels between the two series - two strong and intelligent leads coming from different countries but make a great team!
Is in the novel any breakup or misunderstanding there?
No but FSG was constantly jealous over XJS and they fight a lot because of it, they are constantly wary and suspicious all the time. But guess itâs also because FYX was in love with XJS for a while. In the drama she moved on pretty quickly lol
Gotta give it to the script writer for making the changes from the novel. I didnât read the entire novel but just enough to say that I prefer the leads in the drama version. They are well developed and are more likeable here. I appreciate the balanced and grounded relationship they have built on trust and understanding. FSG is less crude and ruthless, and FYX is more decisive and badass. Dynamics are a lot healthier here.
In the novel, Princess Xiyang wants to marry Xia Jingshi as a marriage alliance for long-lasting peace, after…
Thanks for sharing. I feel like there was so much jealousy and fighting between the leads (and the sister) in the novel because of XJS. Glad they made these changes, it would be hard to like the novel version of FSG. I mean who would like such a crude and harsh player who treats women like that? Even though it was a HE I was still wary on whether he would end up with a harem lmao.
I think the events that play out in the drama help the main OTPâs relationship develop organically. I see their relationship as more mature and balanced here.
