I use to have a rule of no dropping dramas. I think I held true to that for about two years... and then I watched the Taiwanese drama Love Around.. . everytime I tried to watch it all I could think was a physical repulsions and the thought "I can't do this".
After you drop one it gets so much easier to drop the second, third and even the 12th - no guilt. I feel fne.
I will say that if I drop a drama on the first episode - I don't count it as dropped. I just put it back down like I never picked it up.
I have just finished watching episode 4, and I am happy to discover that Meuy is such a smart and brilliant woman.…
Me too! I was so happy to see Muey wasn't dumb! I also pity Yada. She's in a really horrible situation with no hope of getting out. I'd also not her husband hasn't exactly been faithful.
I've been debating this in my own head for a while. . . I started watching Kdramas in 2012 and I've easily seen over 100. Somewhere around the end of 2016 I just stopped enjoying and then watching them. I started, instead, watching Thai & Chinese dramas. and lately, I watch fewer and fewer of those. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is... a phase? an evolution? outgrown? I don't really know. I don't think they're becoming more western, I just think that what I need out of a tv show I'm not getting any more. (which is the same reason I don't watch much American TV).
It's really strange... I have many really good drama friends and we seem to all have slipped away from Kdramas at the same time. One final thought. . . .the second or third drama I ever watched was 'Secret Garden' with Hyun Bin. My first kdrama love to say the least... but he just came out with a new drama and I haven't bothered to watch it. *sigh*
Hi All! Iw as looking at Netflix and noticed this is Rated as TV-14. Does anyone know why? I know there isn't any romance but is there a lot of bad language or violence? (Background: Wondering if this appropriate to watch with my 9 year-old.)
Love your review. I was really feeling the same way! I thought the show was 61 episodes for some misguided reason and then at ep 35 I realized it's only 41... Then it dawned on me that they were never going to be able to dive into all these characters and explain anything. Ugh. Still a sweet drama.
Okay , first I enjoy that someone else is picking apart dramas and culture in the same . . "I wonder why . . ." sort of way.
That being said one of my favorite gangster (although not Korean) is the lead gangster from don quioxote. He wore shiny suits and flash shirts the WHOLE show. come to think of it, his underlings wore Hawiaan shirts in every episode as well.
Maybe I do have drama dropping guilt!!
