It would have been better if this was BDSM (instead of barely hinted)... especially the title. Missed opportunity…
I wouldn’t say nothing happened. They have scenes that involve kink and their whole dynamic as a couple is basically D/s. Not to say I didn’t wish that was explored even more and shown more explicitly but that probably would’ve been too far from mainstream for most viewers.
Don’t say no as the title is a bit off though, I’ll agree. Turns out Fiat is game for anything as long as it involves him and Leo (and them only) together.
Idk how Mame does it, but each drama gets worse and worse........ Sigh. Really only watched this drama for Ja…
Ja and First really are so so pretty but I’d actually disagree with you about Mame. Compared to both seasons of TT, this was much better for me.
The end of season drama in DSN is somewhat contrived and the characters had to get a little ooc to set it up but the end result wasn’t completely pointless for me as it still offered some interesting insights into the characters’ motivations and weaknesses. There’s a lot to love about this series especially if you’re into sex positive attitudes from the main characters, supportive secondary characters and character growth/development as a couple.
Where Mame falls down still is the obsession with creating drama by whatever means necessary in the penultimate episode and giving appropriate consequences for antagonists. Perhaps she tried in this one but it was sadly a fail.
Well, Tharn never kidnapped Type and tortured him, so I'm not sure that's way less toxic than TT. I'd rather have…
Different sentencing due to different circumstances for different defendants is a thing. Type would most definitely bear the brunt of the blame. But I fully agree with you on Mame law. 😂
And I should clarify that I’m not attempting to excuse Leo’s poor decisions in TT2. There is a difference between something being excusable and understandable/forgivable. When you take into account Leo’s state of mind at the time where he seemed at a loss on what to do, Type comes to him with a plan and Leo follows. Bad choice, maybe, but I can understand why he went along with it. This one choice when their circumstances were very different and there was a big outside influence does not dictate Leo’s behavior in DSN.
Leo and Fiat never speak of their relationship in bdsm terms but this mutual agreement is there for basically all of their intimate scenes. For example, when Leo brings up the idea of trying out the toy together, Fiat expressly says he will let Leo and only Leo do anything to him. That’s not at Leo’s urging either, the guy climbs on Leo’s lap himself and places Leo’s hand on his body. That’s pretty clear to me. When they actually get to having sex for the second time ever, Fiat tells Leo to just do what he wants. When Leo asks after if there is anything Fiat wants him to approve on, Fiat says Leo can be more rough. Etc. etc. I could go on but the point is that Fiat has plenty of say in their relationship and he’s been giving Leo the green light very consistently.
When it comes to controlling behavior outside of the bedroom, Fiat is visibly happy and smiling when Leo does things like chooses his clothes or prepares his food and things like that. As for the piggy back rides, note that it was actually Fiat that asked for one both times we’ve seen them do that.
As for Fiat being dependent on Leo, helping Fiat mend his broken relationship with his own parents would surely make Fiat less dependent on Leo and yet Leo was all for it because that would make Fiat happy. Leo never tries to coerce Fiat into this particular dynamic that they have. Their relationship is what it is because that’s the way they both like it. Vilifying Leo for something Fiat wants as well is silly.
Also, I didn’t say they have good communication about all things. When it comes to consent, they’re 👌🏼👌🏼
I like you! ♥️I fully agree with your analysis too. Very insightful. I have to admit I was a bit thrown by…
Huh. I never thought about the series name that way. Assuming it actually is a reference to their relationship dynamic, I suppose it’s not that subtle after all. I don’t know if they’re at that TPE level yet but maybe headed that way. Considering Fiat’s claim of not being into anything all that kinky with his previous sex partners and Leo’s relative inexperience, I’d say they probably just need time to explore together.
That was an interesting post and some good comments besides. I like the analysis of what Leo went through mentally as he adjusts to his new role. That is just so intriguing to me. Thank you!
Well, Tharn never kidnapped Type and tortured him, so I'm not sure that's way less toxic than TT. I'd rather have…
The circumstances for the characters are totally different so it’s difficult to say what another person would have done in someone else’s shoes. The reason I bring up Type is because it actually is remarkably easier psychologically for most people to do morally questionable shit if you’re going along with an authority figure, as opposed to deciding to do it on your own. If you look up “obedience to authority” you can read up on this interesting psychological phenomenon. Point is, Type came along when Leo was desperate and not knowing how to proceed and Leo, perhaps foolishly, looked to him for guidance and then complied with Type’s plan. I’ll agree he is complicit but, were they tried in a court of law for kidnapping, Type and Leo and everyone else in the group would be judged differently. They’re not equally culpable.
As for Leo and Fiat’s relationship dynamic, it’s not toxic just because it’s different. As long as both partners agree to and enjoy a certain kind of relationship, it’s all good. Leo wants to take care of Fiat and to have control over some aspects of Fiat’s life. Fiat wants to be taken care of and enjoys his partner taking charge of him. They both respect each other’s boundaries and communicate about what they are and aren’t okay with. Nothing toxic about that. Toxicity comes from unwanted exertion of control or manipulation over the other and that’s not at all what Leo and Fiat’s are about. If Leo is Fiat’s owner, it’s because Fiat wants to be owned. No shame in that.
I’d actually disagree with you about Tharn and Type being equals in the relationship but their relationship dynamic is not as foregrounded in the story. At least Leo and Fiat’s have good communication about these things.
I like you! ♥️I fully agree with your analysis too. Very insightful. I have to admit I was a bit thrown by…
Yes, one of the biggest reasons I do love this couple is their open mindedness when it comes to these topics and their open conversations regarding their relationship dynamics and sex life. I’ve loved every time Leo’s expressly asked for consent and I can’t think of a single time that he didn’t aside from occasions where Fiat initiated things himself. And it’s noteworthy that after their talk about Leo’s possessiveness, Leo once again asks for Fiat’s permission before they proceed with the sexy times. Nothing’s changed there even after this supposed revelation.
As for Leo being controlling, there is a few different things to consider here. There is the idea of whether he can hold back from acting out of jealousy or anger when Fiat does something to provoke that particular “demon.” In TT2 Fiat said Leo was scaring him but the most Leo ever did was punch the bed and verbally prohibit Fiat from leaving. After Fiat bade him not to be angry Leo was already back to petting his hair. That makes him seem neither to have any real impulse to ever hurt Fiat nor be all that out of control. I suppose for the person experiencing strong emotions like anger or jealousy, they may feel more out of control than they actually are.
Then there is the issue of him controlling Fiat. When it comes to what Fiat wants, Leo’s first choice seems to be indulging him. The only instances where he has acted in a controlling manner have been when Fiat was doing something wrong (the way he acted with Type), or putting himself in harms way somehow. I’d say the bar scene with King actually applies as the second since, had Fiat actually been having a grand ol time with King or some other guy (not drunk or anything), I don’t think Leo would have dragged him home. Confronted him, maybe, but not the way we saw him do in this particular instance. I feel like Leo’s brand of controlling falls under their D/s dynamic as well and as long as they’re both okay with that, it’s not really an issue.
Well, Tharn never kidnapped Type and tortured him, so I'm not sure that's way less toxic than TT. I'd rather have…
To be fair, Type was the mastermind behind that kidnapping plan and he’s the one who tortured Fiat by threatening to break Fiat’s leg in order to scare him off. Leo was only there to pick up the pieces and perhaps make sure nothing further happened to Fiat in case that confrontation went wrong. Leo would not have come up with that shit on his own so let’s not give him more of an active role in that scheme than he actually had.
Leo's control issues are worse than I thought. "I want to lock you up, preventing you from seeing anyone" and…
A bit scary to be sure but Leo is acknowledging these troubling aspects of himself, knows that it’s a bad thing and doesn’t want to act to hurt Fiat. That’s completely different from Fiat’s mom.
So say you get angry enough you want to hit someone and that scares you enough to divulge that you’ve had such thoughts. That’s completely different from actually beating somebody up in a fit of rage. We can all have some dark thoughts sometimes. Leo has never done anything to actually hurt Fiat. Actions count. Hurting Fiat seems to be the last thing he wants.
Okay so this is my first time watching a show that is still airing. How does this special episode thing work? Someone said you have to pay to see it. How does this work, exactly? And for international viewers especially?
So I didn’t watch this but Leon and Pob aren’t together??Is Mame sewer-slidal? Cause if she is I’ll gladly…
They will be, I’m sure. Their relationship was well done all throughout the series and the finale was no different. I half expected some drama but it was realistic and touching and it’s surely only a temporary separation.
Okay, so overall I was pretty pleased with the finale, although there were a few things that surprised me and not in the best way.
First off, Leo and Fiat. Why couldn’t Leo just address the whole mess with Punn? Here we have Fiat being all vulnerable and admitting to not being at all as confident as he acts and Leo doesn’t even mention her to at least say she was never even in the running? In a way, I suppose you could interpret Leo just totally bypassing the subject as evidence of how insignificant she is to him but he was willing to explain things before so why not now when Fiat I seems ready to listen? Aggravating.
Instead of an explanation/apology about all that, we have Leo owning up to having a bit of a dark side. I’m conflicted. On one hand, Leo has shown signs of this possessiveness to the point of doing something morally dubious before in TTTS2 when he physically carried Fiat from the club where he’d been with Type, took him home and didn’t allow him to leave. So it’s not exactly news and perhaps it’s good that it’s spoken about openly. And considering how Leo has behaved so supportively throughout the show when it comes to Fiat mending his relationship with his family and having a good support network when he was struggling after the whole ordeal with his mom, I’d say Leo is not looking to isolate Fiat from the people important to him. Leo’s possessiveness is not an abusive thing.
I’ve seen people bring up how Leo was involved with Fiat’s kidnapping in TTTS2, but let’s just remember that this was that crazy bastard Type’s plan. Leo went along with it and that’s kind of awful but even then it wasn’t to punish Fiat or teach him a lesson. It was to disillusion Fiat when it comes to Type being a caring person Fiat could have a chance with and to confess to his own feelings. Also, it was maybe safer for Leo to be there to stop Type if anything should go wrong about that particular confrontation. I don’t hold that against him.
All in all, I think Leo and Fiat will appeal to people who have at least a little bit of a bdsm kink. For the most part, that aspect of their relationship is fairly subtly and tastefully done but it’s definitely there from the beginning. It shouldn’t be confused with toxicity. Leo is supportive, loving and fantastic about respecting Fiat’s wishes and boundaries and asking for consent. That’s all good. Not toxic, not abusive. I love them but they’re not for everyone.
As a highlight, even though I don’t normally like the idea of someone dictating what their lover can and cannot wear, I actually really liked the scene in the hallway where Leo put his hand inside that red suit jacket. Very sexy. Fiat looked damn good in that suit and Leo was appropriately appreciative even if he didn’t want to show Fiat off to anyone else.
The rest was as far as our main couple goes was good but nothing remarkable. I liked their joined taunting of King and Leo’s confidence in the game. I also enjoyed their little speeches to each other on the court later on. Accepting imperfection and trying their best together regardless was a highlight.
As for Leon and Pob, I actually really liked how their scenes turned out. I realize people are pissed but their separation was actually very touching and realistic for a couple in love. They didn’t part ways because of each other but because they have other important things in their lives that do not allow for them to be together right now. No unnecessary drama. I thought the hugging on the bench and a confession of love from Pob before parting was sweet. Not every story needs a hea even though I’m sure that’s coming in the future, either in the special or their own series. Actually, it’s probably preferable not to have a cute ending only to drum up contrived drama later. Their story can just pick up from here naturally.
Finally, the are the friends actually evil? Like Punn was awful, I get it, but did she deserve to have a clip of what she thought was a private moment spread around in her place of education? Way harsh. Going by that, Type and Tharn would have been justified in spreading around Fiat’s sex tapes and that just isn’t right. I ended up feeling so sorry for her. King on the other hand maybe got additional repercussions after losing the game? Hopefully? But that wasn’t important enough to go into further, I guess.
The entirety of my opinion on episode 12 what I hated & what I loved. To be frank I was disappointed. I won’t…
I like you! ♥️
I fully agree with your analysis too. Very insightful. I have to admit I was a bit thrown by Leo admitting to believing himself capable of hurting Fiat because that seems like such a red flag and he has behaved in a way that was not okay in TTTS2 when he forcefully brought Fiat home from his drunken outing with Type and refused to let him leave. It was understandable then because there was also the moral issue of taking advantage of a drunk person and it’s good that Leo intervened. But it seems like Leo can be at least controlling if pushed to that point.
Then again, the fact that he’s acknowledging this is an issue for him would probably make it a lot less likely that he ever act in a way that would actually hurt Fiat. The conversation was quite interesting but it may have warranted a bit more delving into for the viewers who aren’t going to analyze things that deeply. For me, considering how encouraging Leo has been when it comes to Fiat rebuilding his support network and relationships with both their families, this possessiveness has nothing to do with any kind of abusive tendency to isolate your partner. Leo is not like that. He is very indulgent and has been consistently great about asking for consent. Moreover, it’s just one aspect of how he is as lover. Being caring and being possessive do not negate each other.
I’ll just add that I love that you brought up Leo respecting Fiat’s wishes when it comes to what their relationship should be. I’ve seen a lot of people criticizing Leo for not doing anything about Fiat leaving but I see it the way you do. I also like how it was addressed in their conversation in this episode where Leo says he told his brother that he is willing to be friends or anything Fiat wants to stay by his side but it’s not what he wants. In case Fiat actually did want something different, this reaffirms that Leo will still be there even so, but he’s still stating his own wishes as well.
Emotional harm him by using harsh words, i think thats what it means.. It is only what Leo thinks about himself…
Yes, that scene took such a turn from what I was expecting like boy, you scary. And Fiat was just fine with it. Is that really a good message to be sending?
In one way, you feel the way you feel and I suppose it’s nice that Leo’s finally opening up about this less than ideal side of him and is still accepted by Fiat just the way he is.
It’s also good that Leo seems to acknowledge this is a negative thing and he does not want to hurt Fiat. His actions also demonstrate that he does not want to unhealthily monopolize Fiat’s love. It’s actually to the contrary, as seen by the birthday scene. (Although, admittedly, it was just them two with the others merely sending messages from a distance. Still, the idea was lovely.) And Leo seems to be all for Fiat having a good and extensive support network with the way he’s not only included Fiat into his own family but also supported Fiat building a better relationship with Fiat’s. That’s not something abusers do so Leo is really not like that.
All this makes me hope that this whole tendency is likely mostly a product of being somewhat traumatized by watching Fiat sleep around so much in the past. With a little time and stability, I’d assume he’ll simmer down.
That was some far-fetched junk. It was an episode where I was anticipating the commercials to provide the intellectual…
Err, actors don’t need to look hot 24/7? It would have been ridiculous as hell if Leo’s heartbreak was filmed with the main priority to make him look good. The only thing I disliked about the crying scenes was the number of them. Like wouldn’t it have been enough for us to see him cry after Fiat left, the nightmare and when talking to Leon? They had to have an actual montage as well. 😂
Don’t say no as the title is a bit off though, I’ll agree. Turns out Fiat is game for anything as long as it involves him and Leo (and them only) together.
