Here's my theory about the delays and Song's silence. From what I've gathered here and elsewhere, the culprit…
As a celebrity like her who makes a shit load of money (yes chinese celebrities her level still make money), regardless of wether she knows/manages/look at her fianances, it’s pretty stupid & obvious to hide a hunk of your salary from the government without her knowledge/signatures, and approval. Especially since evading taxes have become such a hot/sensitive topic, you’d bet any top Chinese celebrity get their taxes straight with some even publicity indicating that they have correctly paid their taxes full on social media. Even if her former employee never reported her, she would sooner or later get flagged by the government (It would be difficult for Song Zuer to prove that she had no knowledge nor involvement with her money relating to evading taxes). In most cases, before it goes public (like any celebrity who has been cancelled because of tax evasion), they get warning and penalty to repay their portion of missing taxes within a time frame before tax officials go after them publicly. Seems like Song Zuer’s case is passed that point of warning and paying back for her career to recover. Yuan Bingyan pretty much set the example of (laying low/silent after her tax scandal erupted , still active on social media, all projects put on hold; up until tax officials called her out by name which put the nail in the coffin to her career.)
He might not take any new projects until next year. He seems pretty busy rn with a lot of fashion/magazines events but his recent work was dubbing for Disney’s Wish as the little goat which he is also promoting. Not sure if he has finish filming his new film “Welcome to my side”. Let’s see if he or his agency decides to delve into dramas because they seem to be moving towards a serious acting career not the pretty, glize xian xia or typical modern rom drama.
I enjoyed it but it lacks plot development. It’s like watching a drama series squeezed into one episode and…
A lot of scenes were cut unfortunately. The movie would have dragged out pass 3 hours. I’m hoping once the trilogy is released, they would do a drama ver. that includes the cut scenes (in which would explain the story better). Part 1 seemed to be successful during its summer release & garner a cult following. Hoping Tencent would take this on since they seem to have been part of the production company that invested. Netflix would sound like a great option seeing how c-dramas have made it there. It would be such a miss to let go of such scenes.
up until not it’s not appearing on my youku app T . T
I eventually learned that Youku is named here on DL & some promotion video on YOUTUBE with the Youku logo however it airs on HBO Asia. My advice is to watch it in Dailymotion as it’s posted there.
Isn’t it strange how everyone complains about historical C-dramas being too cliched and predictable and as soon…
I love this format. I swear I have short term memory lost to Chinese drama plots spinning around. The format allows viewers to remember the past & present right then and there for each supporting role.
Some forget that the revenge plot consist of Meng wan gathering the 9 people to fight Ru lan’s case. If there…
They might add Wu Lian’s POV because there is still some parts missing between him & his wife. As for Madam Ning, the recent ep 12 kinda provides an insight. She wants to still be relevant/remembered in the capital city & she seems reluctant to move far away to follow her husband. Wu lian’s embroidery school was her golden ticket to still be relevant in the capital city.
Watching episode 12. They keep adding timelines within the timelines. As soon as one's POV is completed, they…
Some forget that the revenge plot consist of Meng wan gathering the 9 people to fight Ru lan’s case. If there were no backstory for the context & how each person was involved in the past, no viewers would care/think that they are important in the present timeline. This drama is different in that each supporting character has a spotlight to Ru lin’s case & Meng wan being the middle man. I personally liked or at least understood why each side story was necessary (Shen Mu’s side plot was the one I loved most). It’s like everyone knows the ending to Ru lin so it’s the story in between that is being caught up to her death for viewers to understand.

Idea of alternative episode is plain bad. Also they release one episode. Stupid people. I dont want to know how…
This drama is literally based off of Ru lin’s trial 7 years ago. The revenge plot would be a random ass story if not for the context of the scenes from 7 yrs ago. The alternative timeline gives viewers a deeper meaning to the present revenge plot & why these 9 people are even involved to begin with. Seeing the past plot (7 years ago) as a viewer allows us to understand Ru lin’s pain/injustice & wanting success for her in the present timeline. It also allows us to see how these 9 people and the lives have drastically changed.
my thoughts exactly, and that's what they have been doing before, i just dont know why they released only one…
Probably because there are only 25 eps & the drama is gaining traction. It’s almost hitting the half way mark point so marketing team is probably milking for what they can.
The fl’s husband is completely MIA. They mentioned earlier that she went from concubine to second wife. So,…
I’m assuming he should be supportive as he knows that his former wife owes Meng wan. Interesting to see if he’ll be shown again because I don’t get how his former wife knows Meng wan or how MW even got married into the Xu family.
This drama is too much. I have my issues with MW. When all this went down with LR, she backed off and didn't really…
She knew that nothing would have came out of it if she intended to take on the case with RL. MW only started to agree to help RL after she went through with the lawsuit but MW could only do so little. What was needed at the moment of the case was time and a higher positions to go against Wu Lian which cost Ru lan’s life. It was this moment when WM decided to come back for revenge. 7 years later & everyone involved in helping Ru LAN’s case has become so different from who they were before.
This drama makes my blood boil although it depicts such real struggles. Borderline giving me PTSD of *cough* Kris *cough* Wu. And absolutely love Shen Mu.
Wished they did the prequel first because after watching sequel u already know who's is gonna survive/die.
The animated version started off with the Journey of Teenagers. The live-action is probably following the order of the donghua because there is another series that follows the Anhui sec (which occurs the generation before Journey of Teenagers). Journey of Teenagers was also the more popular series with multiple seasons and following the current timeline so it makes sense to start off with the popular series first & possibly introduce a season 2.
The cast, acting, chemistry, and production quality on point. BUT I am the only confuse with the storyline and characters??? I have watch so many, maybe too many Chinese dramas, but this one I’m deadass slow to catching on. I’m on ep 5 and I’m still lost on what’s still going on. I understand the base storyline & how the lead characters are connected but that’s it. CAN SOMEONE DO SOME EXPLAINING?? At least up to ep 5 & and what the heck is going on because I really don’t want to drop this.
I just laughed for comments about Ju Jingyi. She is such a good actress, she is hard working, if ju jingyi in…
I think the main issue surrounding Ju Jingyu is that all her roles are essentially makeshift to her persona of the beautiful “Ju Jingyi”. Meaning that her acting is not convincing to a role (whichever type of character it may be) Every drama she act as a the lead just screams Ju Jingyi. From the way she talks to the way she walks to the way she dress. That’s it. Home girl is typecasted and any director that choose her as lead knows they can milk her fan base.
The core storyline and cases were interesting and relatable to our human nature, emotion, thoughts, values, beliefs,…
Aside from the investigation/forensic profiler, this drama discusses nature/instincts of humans & mistakes/choices that lead people to their actions. (Almost like therapy) It goes much deeper in human life and societal struggles than your average crime/investigation drama. By outcome and end result, I do not mean verdict of the case. We all know they be serving some life in prison. I’m talking what were the life lessons learned, the reality checks (the takeaway from the cases) Some of these cases had an ending that were vague asf. For example, the case of the couple where the woman covered up for the guy and she change her description of him. My dude took Shen yi on a ride and tossed him in the water. Shen yi woke up and that was the end of it. I don’t know about you but this is what I mean by investing emotionally into the individuals of each case just for an abrupt ending like that. Did the couples see each other again and had their closure? What happen to the dude?It leave you to desire something. It’s like seeing something good that smells nice but taste like nothing. It leaves you somewhat dumbfounded when bam the next case arrive and you felt the one before wasn’t fully answered
#3 one of the main reason of Shen yi joining the police department was because of “the lady he could not draw…
First, TAP THE SPOILER BUTTON. You’re giving spoiler that some people have not watched yet. Okay Yes, “his art kill” but that stems from his fallout with Du Cheng and the breaking point that as to why he stop being artist (as in selling his art). It is not the driving point that made become an police officer but what made him quite the art industry (selling) for good. As for the lady, was like wishy-washy. If you know what I mean by that. As an audience, I didn’t even understand about her identity as the lady until she gave Ducheng a call. It was so scatter out for how her identity unfolded, that it was damn underwhelming. For how suspenseful it was for her to approach Shen yi. The resolution to her death was mehh. The suspense that kept it moving but Ducheng getting frame for her death.
