I first saw him in Mei-chan no shitsuji but didn't really like his character (I was 200% for Mizushima). I started to like Sato as an actor since Bloody Monday, but I confess I haven't seen Rurouni Kenshin yet. Your article reminds me I should watch it soon. and I should take a look at Princess Princess D (just for fun) and Q10.
I've also always been curious to listen to him singing during the Super Handsome Live show (by Amuse)...

Hope you could go there soon, it's a very charming country (at least I really enjoyed it the last time I went there). It's an expensive trip (well, maybe less for you since you live "not so far" and plane tickets are maybe less expensive) but it's really worthy. Plus Japanese people really like children, so you can go there with your son too.

Believe it or not, i don't know "to be free" !!! (well, I know lots of their songs, but I'm unable to remember the titles...) Concerning Popcorn Concert DVD, i'm planning to buy it this summer in Japan. As well as many other Arashi's goodies... (I think I will need a suitcase especially for their goodies...)
Concerning "Ryusei no Kizuna", you should really watch it. Not only because of Nino, but because of the story. It could sound dark, but what stroke me the most about this drama is how funny it was. You'll enjoy it, and Nino is really cute in this (well, he is cuter than in others, even though this man is damn too handsome). I call myself a YamaPi fan, but I'm unable to start Proposal Daisakusen, which seems to be one of his most appreciated drama.

lol, I thought the same about Matsujun, and didn't dare at first saying I didn't like him. But things have changed.
Regarding Nino, I do agree with his amazing talents. His solos are always so... well, they could make me cry at times. I don't count the time i've spent listening to Niji in concert (thanks YT users to share those moments !), and i'm a very very big fan of his solo in Popcorn. I became aware of his nice voice while listening to "subarashiki sekai" in concerts, that was the first time I was asking myself if his voice was not deeper that Ohno's (don't know if i'm clear). I didn't know he also wrote some songs for Arashi. I'm curious about that. Too bad i'm still unable to speak and to read Japanese.
As an actor, I'm always pissed of by his characters (except maybe in Ryusei no Kizuna) but I think that's BECAUSE he is a good actor. Never seen "letters from Iwo Jima" though.

I only know them since beginning of 2012. I had a problem with Matsumoto when I started watching dramas (before I knew he was a Arashi member, but at that time I din't even know what Arashi was). I just couldn't stand him since his performance in Hana Yori Dango. I was fed up with him shouting all the time, it was one of the main reason I rated it so low. I won't say more it appears you haven't seen it yet. I spent more than a year avoiding all the dramas he is starring. But one day I decided to watch Gokusen. And it was magic! Since then, I like him.
I don't find him arrogant. On the contrary, I find him quite a shy and nice guy, really sensitive. It seems he likes to make jokes, but I don't find him arrogant. Not as much as Nino... Yet, I start to like Nino a lot, even if he seems so mean sometimes.
Though, that so different characters can work together is really amazing.

I understand what you mean about Sakurai, I also think that's what makes him so adorable. I especially like him when he plays the upset man when mocked by his fellows.
I do agree about him being maybe the cleverest, but what I like the most in this group is that they all have something different that makes them absolutelty irreplaceable.

As somenone previously said, they often come from families with great economical difficulties. They cannot afford to pay for the restauration their children take everyday at school, but they can afford an expensive smartphone with an expensive rental. Strange sense of priorities.
So after all, in a drama, that doesn't bother me so much.
I earn very well my life, still I just bought the cheapest smartphone I found (and yes, it's a Samsung, but not the newest one...)

Interesting article, thanks a lot. Even if I don't often watch K-dramas, I noticed it too, especially in City Hunter. It's the same in J-dramas too. Plus in Japan, there is always this moment in the beginning of the show where the main sponsors are named. That always astonished me to see dramas for young people sponsorised by whiskey brands... There's also an increasing number of Music videos with brands obviously shown all along the song. In my country there is now a special label for those music videos, in order to make spectators be aware they are not only watching a mV but also an advertisement.
Nevertheless i'm not so surprised to see "poor" characters with obviously expensive phones. I'm working in a Junior high school and they are numerous students with really expensive phones (Iphone or any other smartphone). I just cannot understand why. Why do they need smartphone at school?

I don't mind answering about my age : i'm currently 31yo and a half (!). Perfect for Sakurai or Ohno!! I hesitate a lot between the two leaders in Arashi, but I guess Sakurai is my favorite one. I think it depends on the moment, or who has a drama at the moment! As Sakurai is on the front now with Kazoku game, he gain the first place over Ohno at the moment. I find Sakurai absolutly perfect in so many ways. Damn that should be impossible to be so handsome and sociable and well mannered... and perfect.

Finally watched it subbed. I think I will enjoy it a lot. I really want to see and to know more about that insane tutor. Big family crash in perspective.
I haven't seen all his dramas, but I'm under the impression that Sakurai-san breaks with his past performances (and in the mean time, with the clean image I (we?) could have of him). Just brilliant.

well... because I found it really good, so it's at least a 9. But I don't feel the mood to give it a 10. I don't really know why. Because of its kind of crazyness? Well, a 9.5 would be my choice, if it were possible.

Like you, I'm only watching J-dramas, maybe above all because they are shorter than others (and also because I find Japanese actors more handsome than others, but that's something we cannot say in loud voice). I do agree that Miura and Sato are cute actors though maybe too young for me (even if, like you, i'm only daydreaming about guys who doesn't know I exist).
I do agree too about Ninomiya's talents, he is quite an amazing guy, even if not my ichiban in Arashi.
