Ahhh blew my budget on KAT-TUN and Yamapi this year. (still waiting for IGNITE to hit my mailbox) all the thanks…
I refuse to count how much I spent on Arashi this year. But I couldn't miss this video clips release, this is what I was hoping for, more than the cds editions, which are gorgeous in fact.
Just an info for those interested in them : to complete the 5x20 CD released erlier this year, they will release the 5x20 All the Best! Clips (DVD and Blue-Ray) in October, with most of their later works clips.
Thanks a lot for this article, I'm bookmarking it for further use. There are still 8 dramas and movies I need to watch to complete the list (mostly earlier works and Aiba shows in fact, the ones which subs are barely available...)
I won't redo my profile on here, but that were dramas that led me to Arashi, and especially Nazotoki wa, dinner no ato de. I liked Sakurai's character that much in this serie (and it stays my favorite character of him alongside his amazing Kazoku Game show) that I wanted to know much about him, and discovered Arashi. At the time (beginning of 2012), there were still some PV available on YT and "Monster" was one of the most catchy, as well as "Believe". More than" Meikyu love song", those PV on YT made me addicted. That and Ohno's wonderful perf in Kagi no kakatta Heya. Suprisingly, I've seen Matsumoto in HYD far earlier but I disliked the dramas so much that I couldn't give a damn about the osts. Up to date, "Love so sweet" is the song i just dislike the most, and even if i know the attachment of Arashians of the early hours to this song, I'm not really enjoying it when I'm listening to it, probably because of HYD. ("Wish" has had a better fate in my drama ost history though)
So far, my favorite stays "Face Down", but it's because it's deeply connected to KnkH and Ohno, more than the quality of this song. I watched it continuously on YT till they deleted the whole series of PV available, soon after the realeasing of the PV. Other songs I really enjoy are "Believe"," GUTS!" (this song is bringing a big smile on my face everytime I'm listening to it), and "A day in our life". A special mention for the "Michi" song from Pikanchi. It deeply impressed me, probably because of the scene it is attached to, which deeply impressed me. I like this short song a lot.
The only drama I watched because of an Arashi song was Yoiko no Mikata. "Tomadoi Nagara" that I discovered on the 5x10 album was the one which attached me to the group and to Ohno's voice. As much as I love the song, the drama was a disappointment. All those discoveries occured in a short period of time (6 months approximately).
Thanks for this nostalgic journey in (my) drama history.
Do you guys happen to know the song from the rooftop scene? I really love that music. It always gives me the feels.
The one Arthit is singing? It's "Kaub koon tee ruk gun" ("Thank you for loving me") by Potato . Here is a link to an acoustic video : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pdcyz9VLEs8
Thank you so much for this article, what a great idea! I've added some recommendations to my PTW list, and I totally agree about Osozaki no Himawari. I'm looking forwrad to the next articles! Are you planning to really do all the 47 prefectures?
What a good idea to put them on the front for once! We all know (I hope we all know) what we owe to those fansubbers. I would not be here, 9 years after having discovered modern asian dramas, if those people didn't take time, and probably a lot of their free time, to provide us with pretty good fansubs. They deserve to be praised, and they have all my gratitude. I would add that I learned a lot about the Japanese culture thanks to fansubbers too. I'm the kind to really appreciate the side notes accompanying the dialogues. It also shows the dedication of the fansubbers to their (unpaid) "work "and their will to make other viewers enjoy the show as much as they did.
So thank you for your article! and THANK YOU TO ALL FANSUBBERS!
I'm watching it too. I've got mixed feelings about it (I know, I know). I like Igarashi as a character with his funny and cute moments, thanks to Kubota, but I can't buy Honda Tubasa as a doctor. She has zero credibility for me (and I've got nothing against her as an actress). I like the side characters but nothing more for now (watched 7 episodes). I particularly enjoy the ending song by Man with a Mission. All in all, it's just another medical drama for me, even if it's nice to see the japanese hospital system from another angle.
I've caught up until episode 5. i was a little bit bothered by the humour at first, and the general pace of every episode, which is quite classical. That being said, episode 5 was trully interesting and I hope they will keep with this way of resolving cases. I like to see Nanao playing this kind of character, putting her in situations which don't fit her looks, she is an actres i'm liking more and more. But what really keeps me watching is the bond growing between Himokura and Takaie. I really like how they care for each other. I'm looking forward to what the ending of episode 5 is promising. *on a side note, at this rate, Hamada will become bald in 5 years!
Watched 29/60. Of course I wouldn't have ranked it that way, but I'm way too biased about Nobuta wo produce and Tumbling. Honestly, Taiyou to Umi no Kyoshitsu is far better than its ranking. Thanks for the article and the links, it would be handy to choose other school dramas to watch!
Thanks for the compilation! I'm less excited than fellow MDLers. I've only added the asadora (if I'm ever able to accpet the idea of watching such long dramas - taigas are okay, but asadora still have to convince me), Perfect world (out of curiosity because a friend talked about the manga) and Yamapi's drama. Honestly, I really enjoyed winter season, so I'm less eager to see what comes next. That being said, the only spring drama I'm really waiting for is not listed here : Tokyo Dokushin Danshi, and its stellar cast : Takahashi Issei, Saito Takumi and Takito Kenichi. But once again, thanks a lot!
there was a write in poll in december and from that write in the poll was made from the top 5 in each category.…
Your propositions are interesting, but won't it be too difficult to set up, or at least take too many time? It's already time consuming to count in every category where not all dramas are nominated. Unless admins can extract dramas per year and category, but that implies the database needs to be clean, and that's not always the case when we see some dramas from years ago are still apppearing as "airing" in the lists. At least something needs to be done because, even if it's more a game for every participant, numerous members are making remarks at how shows are overwhelming or are not fitting categories (see behind). That being said, I also like how things are not too formatted, it's making the proposition process and the counting more... entertaining...
Thanks a lot for the results. I can't say I'm not disappointed not seeing my favs winning (at least anone got one first place), but as I didn't watch 4/5 of the winners dramas, I cannot really complain.
I had fun participating in this poll this year too. Thanks Skye for organizing it ! Hope we'll have another great poll at the end of 2019.
Thanks a lot for those recommendations. i really appreciate that they are numerous Japanese dramas among them. I've added too many for my real free time and probably many of them won't be subbed, but I'll try to give a try to many of them. I've added some Thai dramas too, thanks for mentioning them!
Ikr? I see that dramas like Chugakusei are winning and it makes me wonder if people only watched this drama...…
Yes, it is more a popularity contest. That being said, I haven't watched Chugakusei Nikki (and the others) so I don't know if it doens't deserve the popularity it got. I see that many japanese dramas watchers (hardcore fans) are watching it and like it, so it's probably a popular AND good drama.
You need to disable your add blockers and any extension on firefox to see it.
Oh... have you disabled the protection against trackers? and reloaded the page? well, if you found it on another browser, I guess it doens't really matter.
Why am I not surprised to see Nishijima in it?
Thanks for the article.
