Oh and I like the idea we also get to know things by quarters ! More dramas to look forward to. Might be useful if writers don't have time to make a recap at the beginning of each season. (Btw shouldn't Q1 be January March?) Thanks once again!
I need to know if in this case it means writing something or if it means the kind of content or genre... Thanks (and sorry for taking so much time on this matter, I'm still working despite the lock out)
Thank you for such a wonderful comment SumiTheCat. Super Sentai makes us all strong!
Yes!
The comment above reminded me there are other parodies of the genre in Europe. In France, there is "France five" here is a link on YT, apparently you can watch it with English subs : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q_ryBUMimA (it's recommended but it has french humour and it's France centered) and there is SaturdayMan, which is from Belgium if I'm not mistaken, but I haven't watched it yet so I don't know if it's accurate or recommended. Thanks a lot for this article, I was looking forward to it since you announced it. It is indeed a very detailed and very informative article, I learned a lot about the premises. Congrats and thank you!
Ah, super sentai ! I've discovered them in the 80es (Bioman, Flashman and Liveman), then watched some others with the Power rangers franchise in the 90es (can't remember which), and finally rediscovered them in 2011-2012 with the Kaizouku Sentai Gokaiger. I've seen others since then, but none from the 2000-2010 era.
They used to be my favorite shows. Correction : Choudenshi Bioman used to be my favorite show as a kid (I liked it even more than Saint Seiya !). I was fascinated by the powers they got, the transformation, and the giant robot. Like @Bluexxangel, I used to reenact the show with my friends at school, or even alone at home. I never doubted I would become one someday (yeah, I know...). It was really a thing at the time. It is still (I think it's the only super sentai you can find with french subs/dubs).
I was a teen when Power Rangers came in my country, but I don't remember it having the same impact on the kids of that era, but I'm maybe biased. I didn't realise at the time it was the reuse of japanese series, it just seemed to me to be an american adaptation of the japanese shows I was watching as a kid. At least until i watched a documentary about H. Saban.
Even if I can clearly see now the lack of character development, the bad acting, the strange special effects (I swear the maquettes and car toys were the same some years ago as in the 80es), they still have that special entertaining charm that makes me regularly watch them. I'd like to be able to watch them all, starting from the first, but it's easier to watch them while airing. I think I'm also more attracted in the first series, they have this particular aura I'm not finding in the next series, maybe, because , as you mentioned, it is more sci-fi based than the other ones. And they all seem to have the same singer at the time! I also tend to enjoy more the series with many characters. Three are not enough for my taste. In that matter, Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger was a must!
I'm looking forward to the new serie, hope it's going to be interesting (and a bit more than the previous one which was lacking on many points).
once again thanks a lot for allowing me to recall of fond memories, and making me interested in many seasons I was not really looking forward before reading your article!
I had difficulties translating the american rating content system because the french one is different with different ages. So I kept the american system and translated it as much as possible.
Sorry to bother you once again, but what is the difference between Special and Drama Special ? On my lists (PTW and so on), I can only see "drama special" in the "type" section.

Thanks once again!
Otsukaresama deshita !

If it's the website, I won't change the name (of course).
