Yes that'll be straight up phobia. Forget dating, if you noticed they're very carefully avoiding important interactions between the two male actors. They even have gl kiss because they're in m/f form but no m/m so far. It's not posible to be there with your love interest all over the place and not percieve beyond their gender. The drama has so many m/f kisses, to balance it out atleast one kiss between ml and fl's male version is absolutely needed.

Yes. Their storyline is the most common trope in omegaverse. If you've read omegaverse before you probebly know how typical these kind of stories were in early omegaverse works. But as most people aren't familiar with this genre stories they would find this relatable and get attached.
