To those contemplating dropping this because of Jang Hyuk, give it some time. The loud drunk routine is not permanent, he's excellent in the later episodes
Only only only one complaint. This drama underestimates the field of psychology. Lack of information and effort…
I think the drama had a great mixture of lighthearted optimism and some heavy doses of reality - if you dive too much into melodrama you run the risk of being even more unrealistic. It's a drama - first and foremost it is meant to entertain, not to educate. I don't think they treated it too lightly, I would have been offended if they did.
I miss Lee Se Ryung, one of the best kdrama heroines
I thought that was a perfect example of her growth as a character - it made her slightly more endearing for me. Her strength and independence grows as the plot evolves; she starts as a rebellious girl and matures into a true crusader of love and justice. She was still being manipulated by her father and friends (the true princess) at the beginning, but develops a sort of autonomy after the plot shifts from lighthearted to tragic near the first turn in the story.
I really need to rewatch this one, it's been over a year and I still use it as an example of near perfection for a kdrama romance. Not only did I fall in love with Se Ryung, I fell in love with Seung Yoo as well.
You write this so amusingly that I think if it had the 'comedy' genre I would have watched it. Very well written - I won't go within 20 ft. of this drama or any drama written by the same guy.
I think the funniest part is that, as I write this comment, there are 21 people that have given this drama a perfect 10 on this site. There is an audience for this kind of garbage out there, apparently!
I'm still in a very big dilemma about how much should I rate it though I've finished it a while ago already. On…
I gave it a 10. I honestly couldn't pick a single fault I had with it. I'm sort of in a different situation than you, though, because I always wait as long as I can before watching currently airing episodes. I hate cliffhangers, so I at least have to wait until I have two episodes to watch back to back. If I am busy, I am only watching a show every two weeks. I think it's pretty easy to forget how much you love the show if you get distracted easily (I certainly do) but I always remember as soon as I turn it on and start watching.
That said, I definitely would have marathoned this show if I had a chance.
Great drama :) But probably I've missed something... What happened with his Lou Gehrig's disease? I've read that…
His Lou Gehrig's disease was a coping mechanism - the guilt he felt towards his brother and his subconscious realization of his mother's culpability led him to develop a disease, completely psychological, as some form of penance. The only disease he had was schizophrenia, he imagined everything else.
Boys Before Flowers - 9
You're Beautiful - 9
Healer - 7
Something is wrong with this picture.
