Yup, the leads got shafted in the end. They had so much sweet materials to work with but they basically jumped from XZ agreeing to marry CY before she was born and then next scene they're already together walking into the restaurant 😑

If only the "what if" ending focused more on XZ and CY. The novel dived deeper into their childhood sweetheart era.
