Even though the novel doesn't dive deep into their relationship, they do end up together. Gongsun actually returns her feelings but he was avoiding her by refusing to take position in court and instead be in the battlefield as Xie Zheng's advisor, the drama made him a school headmaster instead. I can't exactly recall the reason for it, something about his family and how the generations ends up in calamity.

I thought they both denied dating, it was speculation

I wouldn't be surprised if they intend to pair them up again since their CP is massively popular, but it comes down to their management. Given how difficult it was to even have them collaborate for this drama with the billing war and their managers' dislike of each other, I imagine it might be difficult.

In the novel, Xie Zheng is under the impression that Changyu likes scholars cause her ex fiance is one and so is Li Huai An, this causes Xie Zheng to hate scholars. He also only allows Changyu to read books HE annotated, when he found out another man gave her a book with annotations, he literally lost his mind from jealousy and "punished" poor Changyu in bed 🤭🙈

Oh how I wish for them to actually include THAT scene but it's probably too scandalous 🤣. I'll gladly take what they give us lol

I have a feeling they're setting up a jealousy arc with the subtlety of the opening scene in episode 11 when Changning calls Li Huai An "Scholar Sir" and when asked why she calls him that, she said Changyu told her his carriage has alot of books, you can see the mood shifts after and Xie Zheng's expression. I could be wrong but it just seems like a random thing for Changning to say if its not meant to serve a purpose. Novel readers will know what i'm in implying with "books" and how Xie Zheng feels about scholars 🤭

ML is very obsessive over FL throughout the entire novel, he gets jealous easily even the mention of other men like Li Huai An would trigger him, so far ML has not shown this side yet in the drama but I think its too early right now

I can't recall if it was Iqiyi or Tencent but one of the platform released blurred pics of 16 kisses, not sure if they included pecks though, guess we'll have to wait to find out 😍

Their separation is vital to Changyu's progression in her military journey, its all about her her own resilient and bravery without having Xie Zheng there so as much as we hate for them to separate, I'm also looking forward to our girl's journey
