Actually, this is pretty solid production. Stunning cinematography, great acting, and nice OST. It also has some psychological depth, especially around childhood trauma shaping them into imperfect characters. However, at the same time, the story doesn’t really have a strong hook. It’s missing the kind of tension that makes you immediately want to watch the next episode. Or am I the only one who feels this way?
The problem is that her mother has no boundaries. She completely derailed LZQ's plans for the evening and she…
I don’t think sharing her home password with her own mother is a big deal, especially since she doesn’t even live alone. Even if their relationship isn’t good at all, she’s still her mom. That’s why I said her stubbornness is really something. If her mom had access to the password, the situation might not have escalated or disrupted her plans in the first place. I just feel like this scene doesn’t really sit right with me (at least in terms of LZQ’s character). Again, all the characters are imperfect and I understand that.
5 episodes in, the story flows steadily. All the characters are imperfect. I like that. But I hope they don’t stick with this Tom-and-Jerry dynamic for too long; it’s starting to feel repetitive. I also think LZQ’s stance on “boundaries” goes a bit too far, especially in how she treats her own mother. Not sharing her home password is one thing, but leaving her mom alone in the kitchen preparing food for her while she locks herself in her room drinking wine feels inappropriate—no matter how beautiful or successful she is. Her stubbornness is really something. I don’t know why, but I’m more into Zhou Mei’s story at this point.

At this point, it’s very clear why this discussion has become unhealthy. @Xiang83 repeatedly asked for scene-specific analysis and concrete comparisons, which is how constructive criticism works. Those requests were never answered directly or addressed appropriately.
Instead, the conversation shifted into personal attacks toward characters, viewers, and entire groups, using terms like "idiots", “weak,” “brainless,” "cowards" or “needing a cure.” This is not critique, not analysis, and not respectful disagreement — regardless of how often it is claimed otherwise.
Disrespect is defined by language and impact. When a discussion cannot stay focused on the work itself without dehumanizing people, it is no longer a discussion worth having.
You do not need to reply. I will not engage further unless the very basic meaning of respect is understood and applied.
Pls could you mention under Spoiler, im curious ? ( except Bee scene what else ?
Can I add one?
For me, another important scene they changed is how they reveal ML’s wife’s phone number.
Ji An discovers the number when the phone displays “My Wife” (which very sweet IMO). It indirectly tells Ji An (also us) that DH truly loves his wife and how pitiful it is for him to be cheated on. It also gives Ji An some time to remember the number, which makes it believable to me. In this version, however, they chose to reveal it through dialogue. The ML says the full number only once, and the second time he mentions only the last four digits. For me, it’s not very convincing that someone could remember all ten digits just by hearing it in such a short period of time. At least it wouldn’t work for me, LOL—my brain capacity can’t process that.
But this is a remake, right? They couldn’t copy all the important scenes exactly the same, but I was expecting something more impressive. Or maybe they just didn’t find this scene as important as I do. I’m only on episode 4, so there’s still a long way to go. Maybe I’ll be surprised along the way—who knows? 😀
I like Mark Chao but one thing he lacks is Lee Sun Kyun's unique voice. It's not Chao's fault obviously, just…
Totally on point. I think LSK’s deep voice is so iconic that it matches the title "My Ahjusshi" perfectly. I’ve only watched up to episode 4, so I haven’t seen how the recording will play out yet. I also believe in Mark Chao’s capabilities, but let’s be real—his voice is much softer. Still, IMHO he is the best casting choice they could have made for this role.

Everyone has their own preferences. You’re free to like the remake, but disrespecting the original isn’t necessary. If the original were as bad as you claim, this production wouldn’t have made a remake in the first place.
나의 아저씨 (My Ahjussi) ie "My Mister" is the original drama which now-airing "Loving Strangers"…
I’m the one who’s struggling to watch this drama without comparing it to the original. I’ve finished watching up to episode 4, but I’ll keep my personal opinion to myself for now. You were right—this drama needs to be judged objectively on its own quality. Still, since it’s a remake, the comparison is unavoidable.
First episode I like it. I'm glad they kept the melancholic vibes without doing exaggerated in the few light scenes,…
I don’t know why, but I like IU’s visuals more. Even though she doesn’t smile much and has a cold demeanor, her beauty and piercing gaze are unmatched. I think the production put a lot of effort into casting faces that look “similar,” like the cheating guy, the team member, and the brothers. I also just realized they changed the Big Brother into an uncle—is that right? So does Jiang Jia Qi only have one brother now? I love that they’ve kept the main points of the original story so far, and that slap scene was kind of surprising, because if I remember correctly, that bug was supposed to die by the FL’s hands.
I have to wait and see the reviews first before jumping in. I'm still traumatized from Sword and Beloved 🫠…
I think ZYX has a couple of dramas with CY—South Wind Knows is one of them. But unfortunately, I just can’t get into the storyline. CY is great at playing the beautifully tortured type and it’s basically become his trademark, but somehow it’s starting to feel a bit repetitive and kinda boring. Hope you enjoy The Vendetta of An though! 😊
