I'm not going to write an official review, but here are some thoughts:
This series had a high school video project feel to it. And, with so many high quality BLs coming out now, I can't give it a super high rating. But thumbs up to the actors who played the characters of Vergel and -- especially -- Miray, who gave a powerhouse performance as a young trans woman. Big kudos!
I liked the OST theme song very much. Unfortunately, the story didn't wrap up to a cohesive conclusion. But I do give props to the crew for trying to give a realistic presentation.
I havent watched it but this comment tells me expect something like Tonhon Chonlatee.... I wish you didnt mean…
For me, this is even weaker than Tonhon Chonlatee, because there is no story to keep our attention. It's just really dull, the acting is meh and the characters are bland.
Huh? Step away from Mame mind here. Gene was looking after the kid and trying to involve him because he didn't…
Okay, fair enough, everything you said but... yeah, still creepy.
And no, the reactions (well, speaking for myself, at least) have nothing to do with having some need for a dark plot. But this series is not all sweet and lightness, either... the Aoey backstory has proven that.
Bottom line: the Gene/Nubsib backstory is just... weak. There are so many other directions they could have gone, and the writers should have done better.
Hoping we can move past it and end the series on a good note, because it was really good up until now.
Count me in as one happy to see that there will be extra episodes. I started out really skeptical, thinking this would be something I would drop or suffer through. But it has been a really pleasant surprise!
It's no masterpiece by a long way but, at least for me, it's super sweet and a welcome diversion. I'm enjoying it.
Agreed. I am so disappointed to consider this episode a total failure.
Yep... there are so many other ways the writers could have gone. I'm hoping that, moving forward, this lame episode won't have to much of an impact on the rest of the series which, I think, has been really good up until now.
I watched most of Ep. 1 and finally gave up. The truth is, three or four years ago I would have jumped to watch it, because there just weren't all that many BLs back then.
But now the genre has exploded. The fact is that we have so many high quality BLs to choose from now, this one just doesn't cut it.
That, and 15 episodes, each nearly an hour long just isn't appealing to me, for a mediocre series. Just my opinion. Dropping.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I pretty much... hated this episode. Here's why:
1) Gene is supposed to be something like 6 years older than Nubsib. As adults, they look the same age. And in real life, they're both 26, with Kao (Sib) a few months older. So the age difference is hard to believe.
2) When they first met as kids, it was kind of cute. I can understand how Sib would have a crush on Gene at that age, it happens. What was the purpose of "two years later?" Kids change dramatically in two years. If they wanted to make that credible, they should have used two different kid actors, who looked realistically two years older than the younger actors.
3) According to Gene himself, he did remember Nubsib and was upset that Sib hadn't seen him off when they were kids. So that's what Gene is so angry about? Seriously? So many problems with that. If Gene had romantic feelings for Sib at that young age, that's kind of creepy. And, if not, Gene should grow a set. Sure, Sib lied, but there are lies and then there are LIES. How terrible was Sib's hiding his identity from Gene? And -- more than that -- are we really supposed to believe that Gene has known so many guys named "Nubsib" that he wouldn't put 2x2 together?
This series just took a major downturn for me. I thought the plot would have been more believable... like Gene had some head trauma as a kid that made him forget much of his childhood, so felt especially betrayed when he discovered Sib hadn't been truthful to him. This storyline was just lame.
I'll still watch, because I've liked it so much up until now. But this is so disappointing. Hoping this was just an unfortunate bump in the road.
That's fine, but here's the thing: If ATOTS beats out ITSAY in the awards department, it doesn't mean your opinions and feelings about it are unjustified. At the end of the day, we like what we like.
There have been plenty of Best Picture Oscar winners that have had no impact on me, while many of the "losers" have been meaningful to me. I'm sure we've all had similar experiences.
Honestly, I've already forgotten them, since it's been awhile since I watched the series and it didn't have that big of an impact on me. Mainly, I felt there were a lot of "huh?" moments. I do remember feeling sorry for Bas, as it seemed Oh-Aew had a better chemistry with him than with Teh. And Teh's over-the-top crying grated on my nerves. What classroom teacher would just allow someone to sit there in the middle of an exam, loudly bawling his guts out and disturbing everyone, when concentration is key? Made no sense.
I was moved by Oh-aew's red red bra scene and the final scenes between Teh and his "girlfriend."
