After sitting through 4 eps of this drama, I dont really like it. I Doesn't compare to the Jdrama since i've only…
I totally agree about the music. Nodame Cantabile is written by, for, and about people who love classical music. As much as I really love K Drama, Cantabile Tomorrow misses the mark. It's obviously that a generic (and probably very talented) production team was used to create this version, but it's obvious that almost no classical music advisors were attached to this project. Nodame played great music from the beginning. The problem was that her music was too personal and her mind set too skewed for most people to realize how brilliant she was. So far this Kdrama has missed that. But the great thing about Kdramas is that they are written "on-the-fly" and a course correction might just fix these issues.
Korean dramas and Japanese Dramas have their share of cliché elements, I agree, but to say that Korean Dramas have no depth just doesn't sit well with me. I love both J and K dramas, and I agree that J Dramas do quirky a bit better. But in the same vein, I think K Dramas at their best, ie TPM, etc, can often be incredibly thoughtful and deep.
I miss Lee Se Ryung, one of the best kdrama heroines
Wel said and I do so agree. She is the one character that I can think of who gave up her power WILLINGLY. The Princess was forced from power, as was her entire family. Their singular struggle was to regain it. Lee Se Ryung gave up her power entirely in protest of her father's villainy.
This dramas is so much better than others in all its qualities… An epic Romance w/ political intrigue, in a…
I do enjoy your comments! You really get it. This drama is so good that frankly I cannot understand why it is not shown in Europe or America. So many lessons about story telling could be learned from this drama. And not to mention the OST for me is the best and most amazing that I have ever heard. Moon Chae Won and Park Shi Hoo are two of the most amazing actors in the world.
Whaaaat is the point of this drama?? every good person is murdered, or killed either by poison or by tearing their…
I so disagree. The King did not have a happy ending. In the end, he lost the one thing he that he treasured most, his daughter. Every night he had nightmares about those who he had wronged, and he knew in the end that in the next life his family would not greet him with open arms. He would be alone forever. His body was wracked with pain and he prematurely aged. And most of all, the one thing he wanted was revenge upon Kim Seungyu for taking his daughter from him. But he could NEVER accomplish it and in the end his only joy was watching his daughter alive and happy in the arms of the man he could not kill.
I miss Lee Se Ryung, one of the best kdrama heroines
Agreed. The only criticism of her is that she lied at the beginning. But people do forget that the reveal was not hers to tell. The Princess bears responsibility as it was her choice, not Lee Se Ryung. And then when she tried to tell Kim Seungyu that she was not the Princess, her father found out and forbade her to do so. At that point she trusted her father so she complied.
Lost me at "Multi-season". That is the reason I don't watch American or European episodic television. I stick with Kdramas and JDramas, with the odd Manga/Animé.
Story telling is all about a beginning, a middle and an end. American episodic television is mind numbingly boring because they do away with the middle and end, and just rehash the same story over and over without an arc.
I started watching this Drama but i will but it on hold! I realy can't sympathise with the heroine. I just watched…
The loss is all yours. That "stupid guy" that the princess married turns out to be one of the greatest heroes in any drama, and their love is for me the highlight of the series. The Princess herself becomes heroic and her story alone is well worth watching. Not to mention how her fate and Lee Se Ryung are intertwined. You really missed one of the best dramas ever made.
For me, this is absolutely the best drama of all time. Everything from the acting, the amazingly intelligent and well thought out plot, the pacing, the music, the acting. I loved it from beginning to end. Have watched it four or five times, have lost count, and will watch it again.
One of my fave dramas. I marginally prefer HYD, as that is my second favourite drama of all time. But this one is great too and a lot of Korean flavour is added. I actually love the music in this drama, and I felt that Lee Min Ho was great too, and closer to the animé version of Domyoji than Matsumoto Jun. There are actually some other aspects of this drama that are superior to HYD, such as the omission of the beauty pagent.
Really liked this drama. I've owned it for a couple of years, but didn't think I would like it. I found both JGS and Yoona perfect in their roles. I'll definitely watch this again. Kudos to the director and loved the OST, especially Again and Again.
This is another home-run for the Hong sisters for me. Loved it. I wish in the end they had actually shown Kang…
I must say, attacking someone in real life because you disagree with their opinion is the surest sign of a sicko I can think of. I can see why you were dumped.
Thank you to everyone who suggested this drama. I am only episode 38 and it is bloody FANTASTIC. In only the way…
The ending was not at all what I wanted. The poor girl never did get acknowledged as a Princess, but then it was so much more. The artistry of the final scenes, too beautiful for words. It was poetry. And I was so hoping for a happy ending for Seo Woo's character, I cried my head off. First time I hated a villain and felt such compassion for her as well. I don't care what anyone says about her plastic surgery, this girl knocked it out of the park. Fantastic on every level.
you left out Jang Hyuk, who has more talent than all the other's combined. And added Bae Soo Bin who literally has one expression, and who cries more than the entire cast of Autumn Sonata in every drama he does.
I think if the average age of fans here was a few years older, this drama would be MUCH higher rated. It's excellent overall and I found the writer's understanding of trade and stock manipulation on a par or better than Hanzawi Naoki. With the added addition of having Jang Hyuk who I think is one of the finest actors working today, and smoking which is certainly a benefit for us ladies. Loved it.
Thank you to everyone who suggested this drama. I am only episode 38 and it is bloody FANTASTIC. In only the way a Kdrama can be. Of course there are the typical niggles of any Kdrama, but this just rocks in every way. Beautiful score, wonderful acting, amazing script, larger than life characters who are anything but cliiché. Right now, I'm watching the section which I now realize is almost literally lifted scene for scene from La Femme Nikita. Solnan is believed dead and is hired by Crown Prince to join the gang, an elite spy community. Just as in La Femme Nikita, she undergoes months of cruel training, she is beaten and battered but somehow manages to complete her training. Also just as in La Femme Nikita, her last mission involves given lovely clothes and taken out for dinner by the Crown Prince. And again, just as in La Femme Nikita, she is given a "present" and it is a weapon, in this case a knife. She is then directed to intercept two foreign agents and kill them and retrieve their documents. Yes, it is all so very LFN, but interpolated and refreshed and convincingly fit into the storyline of TKD. Somehow it is even more exquisite and more touching, as Soo BaekHyang is not some sociopathic robot, but a sensitive woman seeking only to find her sister.
I don't know what lies in store, but so far this is amazing and all characters are multi-faceted and simultaneously touching and flawed. If this gets any better I don't know if I can stand it! THANKS for letting me get to experience this very special drama.
Wonderful, Wonderful drama! One of my all-time faves. I love Uee in this, she is amazing, and her romance with Joo Won is great. For me, however, the true love story is between Ja Eun and Park Bok Ja. As a spoiled yet goodhearted girl striving to take what she considers to be hers, and her main opponent, the mother of the Ojakgyo family who firmy intends to keep the farm. Their relationship starts out very badly, but in time because a study of the true nature of motherly love, as Park Bok Ja (brilliantly played by Kim Ja Ok) begins to love the child she cheated. In fact, for me the three seasoned actors who are officially "supporting" actors outright steal the series. Kim Ja Ok is fantastic as Mother Ojakgyo, as are Kim Yong Rim as the earthy, traditional grandmother Hwang, and last but not least, Baek Il Sub as father Hwang, a strong father regretting his mistakes.
Esoteric, erotic, imaginative and deadly. This drama is a masterpiece of film making at its very finest. Bi and Shin Min Ah are electric together, pulled fast in a spellbinding love hate relationship that defies categorization. Technically, the cinematography, design, and story telling are wildly artistic, ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime. But it all works in ways I've never seen before. I loved this drama. Warning, definitely not for the reply 1997 crowd. A work of art, but not necessarily a crowd pleaser.
Absolutely the worst drama I have ever seen. Ha Ji Won does not impress me, but here she makes me want to slap…
Youre right. Its only my particular taste. Lots of people loved it. I definitely am not so arrogant to think that simply because i hated it that its automatically bad.
