Lol, what? Smiling Proud Wanderer was one of the absolute worse dramas I've ever seen. That drama was so low budget…
Wirework done well helps add variety and artistry to fight scenes. Without it, the result is Smiling Proud Wanderer that incorporates the exact same cut-slash-block sequence in every single fighting exchange that tries to make actors look edgy and cool by having them jump 2 feet off the ground. DFBB's rooftop fight scene early on in the drama still leaves mental scars in my mind. Who in the hell though having him clumsily rotate 360's on nothing but his heels would be a cool-looking dodging maneuver. Even when they used wirework, it was cringe AF. Case in point, Ling Hu Chong's fight scene against the chess-board master, where it looked like his head was receiving whiplash from being dragged forward on his final gliding stab. Chinese kungfu and wushu captivates global audience for having beautiful choreography that provides the Western world with a fresh breath of air from the mindless boxing scenes Hollywood used to call action. SPW on the other hand seems to take Western cues by having 90% of its fight scenes incorporate brain-dead sword pummeling and calling the abomination "wuxia".

What is all the slow-motion about???A new way to fill a series with a bigger number of episodes???It's tiring,…
Lol, what? Smiling Proud Wanderer was one of the absolute worse dramas I've ever seen. That drama was so low budget they were forced to rip off soundtracks from other movies and shows (Dark Night and GOT) and every single fight scene was the exact same repetitive sword exchange crap. Heck, they couldn't even afford to use wires in the vast majority of the fights. This drama runs circles around it.

And speaking of the umbrella, what exactly is it and its origins? There's no way it's just a regular old umbrella…
Makes sense in accordance to the drama. Hopefully, the touch more on it in the next season.

Last episode fight is good but till the end he is still so weak
Nah, those skills he showed off in the end would've good enough to wreck pretty much everyone's he faced throughout the season. Heck, even Xia Hou would've gotten destroyed if it weren't for his armor.

I started but stop to watch Legend of Fuyao. Which better?
Infinitely better in terms of plot, depth, acting, and production value. Not as much romance though, so if you're looking for a drama that's warm and sappy, you'll probably be a bit disappointed.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. Totally forgot about the part where Sang Sang got sent away.

Just finished the whole drama. I'd say the last 10 episodes are quite a let-down – with the last episode a complete…
Yeah, this drama doesn't do tension and suspense really well. It's nothing like Nirvana in Fire which gets you on the edge of your seat every 5 episodes. Just enjoy it as a piece of art.

Okay, so it's a magical umbrella. That's what I was thinking.

But if SS were the child of Hades, why did they target NQ and try to wipe out the general's manor? That's a world-class screw-up by WGM.

Did Sang Sang seriously try to stab Xia Hou with an umbrella in the final episode? C'mon man, that's just so ridiculously…
And speaking of the umbrella, what exactly is it and its origins? There's no way it's just a regular old umbrella they found on the ground, that thing is more indestructible than Captain America's shield. Heck, how can it even deflect energy blasts?

I've only watched to 32, but this is by far one of the best Chinese dramas. As far as quality, this completely…
Legend of Fuyao is the most overrated show in dramaland. Cheap effects, cringe CGI, fake plastic sets, horrible green screens, mediocre script- it has everything negative that is stereotypically associated with C-dramas. Even more pathetic considering that it had the largest C-drama budget of all-time. Thank God for shows like this and T&E that show how money should be properly used.

Heol! 9.0, is it that great??
Nirvana in Fire is the best chinese drama and is has a rating of 9.2. Anything for 9.0 is very rare. We'll see if this show can maintain it.

Not as much romance as Princess Agents, no.
Princess Agents technically had 0 romance. There was one kiss and a hug, and then some incidental contact and whole lot of the cat-and-mouse game. Never were they once actually together, until YWY pretty much died.

it's a plot hole :)
Yeah. Wouldn't call it a plot-hole. It's just a script screw-up.

If there's a second season, then I'll be surprised because it's not being well received in China.
There probably will from what I've heard, but Leo Wu won't be returning.

No, it was extended to Monday through Friday. 4 more episodes per week than the original schedule. http://www.dramapanda.com/2018/09/schedule-announcements-for-battle.html
Never mind, that was last week's schedule. I believe you're right; the broadcast schedule's gonna be shortened to just 4 episodes per week.

Laura, this drama it is lighter in tone than those on your list. But FBS is just the first part of perhaps two…
Sheesh, no need to be so condescending. A simple "yes" would've done the work. You don't need to get your panties in a bunch over your mighty superior literacy skills.
