" It will forever remain a mystery what Kinn's family really does for a living, other than senseless killing. " They were in the casino business. I got this from the show, but I guess it wasn't laid out that obviously...aside from the fact that Kinn's cousins are named Vegas and Macau (two popular international casino cities).
Do you have any videos of him speaking Chinese? I'd be really curious to hear it because in the scene where he's…
Yeah. They way he says the second character 'you' in pengyou is completely off and it just makes the whole scene ironic since Neungdiao is getting so frustrated with Palm's pronunciation. The correct pronunciation is the tone 3. Palm's on 1 and Neungdiao's on 4...over and over again. lol The Mandarin teacher also says a sentence to Palm which was completely unintelligible to both me and my partner. We had to rewind and still didn't get it.
Phuwin also speaks Chinese although he isn't fluent in it like with his English. He's really a very talented,…
Do you have any videos of him speaking Chinese? I'd be really curious to hear it because in the scene where he's trying to teach Pond how to say 'friend', they're actually both repeatedly pronouncing it wrong. lol
I wonder if it's easier for Thai speakers to learn Mandarin due to it being a tonal language than it is being…
Funny you ask this because when the Mandarin teacher tells Perth's character to help Pond's character "catch up" I was thinking to myself, "Mandarin isn't math. You can't just jump in from 0 and get to a level the rest of a class is at."LOL
But to answer your question, I don't think it's necessarily easier for them because the tones are different. Also, because they have tones in their language, I think they sometimes subconsciously apply those tones to Mandarin. So when I hear westerners speak Mandarin, it's slow, over-pronounced tones. When Thai people speak Mandarin, they speak quickly, but the tones are still off, which makes it honestly harder to understand them (for Mandarin speakers).
So, I've seen two opinions about this part that I want to touch on:1. Why is Mint still friends with Dew / chasing…
You're right it isn't enough, but I think that's how it's going to be until and unless he says it outright. :/ Which makes me realize how little the sexuality of boys in BL is ever defined, anyway. Seldom in BL do we have gay people falling in love. It's usually one guy who we know was involved with girls before (i.e.-bisexual, I guess) and another guy with no previous romantic interests. Or two guys who were involved with girls before....sorry I rambling.

"2. Why doesn't Dew tell her he's gay? That would help her move on!
Yeah, no. For one, do we even know he is? Like is there a scene when he openly said that? I don't remember one. If he isn't gay, the whole thing falls apart. So let's assume he is."
In Ep. 4, when Aun confronts Mint on the stairs, he says he heard that Dew is gay. So, I guess from that, we can take that it's either rumored or known that he's gay. Also, while Mint and Dew were at the bar, Vee (who's 100%, no one doubts it gay) says point blank that Mint is a cherry (a girl who likes gay men). Plus, you can kinda tell from the Vee's eyes he's giving a look of "Girl, this boy likes boys. What are you doing?"
This one seems off to an expected start. It wasn't totally underwhelming, but I don't know what, if anything, I'm going to be looking forward to episode after episode. Pond's voice, maybe? Also, why is Perth in like a side-side role? It seems like he's going the way of White (that is: star in a groundbreaking BL then only ever get casted as a side character until you slowly fade out of relevance) and that's BS because Perth is amazing.
I'm really liking this so far. I didn't see any of the other OhmFluke productions this year, but from the comments, I'm getting the feeling that this is going to be one of the better ones.

I agree about the difficulty of Chinese though you really can’t get by without getting the tones down.
