I liked this review for the most part. I slightly disagreed with ep 5/6 and then you completely lost me with ep 11/12 lol, but I like how this was worded. :)
Ep. 1-2 I like this couple and their chemistry, but the writing was bad. Despite the other parts of their acting being good, I was at no point convinced that they were Muay Thai fighters. That took me out of it at some points. Maybe tennis or track would have been a better choice of sport for them.
Ep. 3-4 If the last three episodes don’t blow them out of the water, this might be my favorite couple, if only for Nuea. Maybe because I’m somewhat of a Sun-type who likes very cute and very sassy/bossy guys.
Ep. 5-6 I didn’t hate this couple. The chemistry was good and Mon is adorable, but it just seems off that Mon would be *that* head over heels in love and dedicated to Team for almost no other reason than how handsome he is.
Ep. 7-8 The simplest, least conflicted couple in the show. Both actors were nice and it just felt good to watch their story.
Ep. 9-10 Either way, this definitely the hottest couple in the show. They aren't my favorite so far, but they're for sure the hottest. While I love how sexy Kaeng is, his actions at the dinner were a little bit much. Also, something about the way Puth ended things with the tutor seem weird to me. He was so into him, then suddenly not.
Ep. 11-12 Imo this couple had the most potential, but this fell flat for me for a few reasons. 1) The English-speaking. Sat speaking on the phone in fairly decent English, Chinese, and Korean at the very beginning of the first episode was cute and funny, but all the extra English? For what? It comes off like they’re those rich, stuck up kids who’s parents could afford to send them to international schools in Thailand, so they just speak English whenever they want just to pretend like they’re cooler than everyone else. I knew kids like this. They’re annoying. If the story had somehow tied the characters to a foreign country or something, I think I wouldn’t feel like this. 2) The pacing. At some point at the beginning of the second episode, I put the speed on 2x and it still seemed like it went slowly.
My ranking (so far) and this is based on chemistry alone since that's where I think it's most competitive among them: 1. Sun/Nuea 2. Kaeng/Puth 3. Team/Mon 4. Ake/Tue 5. Pao/Thurs 6. Choke/Sat
This felt very real and as it's the middle of summer right now, I was fully immersed. Everything about it is really "incomplete", but not in a bad way.
Sohee introduces herself in the second episode as the "crush of 3 years" of Daon. So, she's openly liked/flirted…
Those are good points. We'll see what happens in the future. One thing I'm wondering about, and I wanna know what you think about it too. His grades? Why would he have thrown those away and why did he get awkward when his parents were mentioned? Any theories?
Sohee introduces herself in the second episode as the "crush of 3 years" of Daon. So, she's openly liked/flirted…
Do you not get the feeling that everyone already knows that Daon's super giving/nice anyway? Tbh I feel like people try to take advantage of his lack of confidence/self-assertion and do it shamelessly because he's categorically good-looking and wouldn't second guess any implied lack of satisfaction that he shows because "omg this hot guy is actually being nice to me!" ...his character kind of reminds me of the handsome Wei Jie from the ancient Chinese legends. The saying goes that his death at a young age was due to an excess of attention. In spite of being so handsome and kind, I feel like Daon's going to lose it all. T_T Hopefully, this isn't the case.
Sohee introduces herself in the second episode as the "crush of 3 years" of Daon. So, she's openly liked/flirted…
True, but based on what we saw on screen last episode: So Hee purposely chasing inviting herself, then later chasing off two girls. Then in this episode, he flat out told her he wants to do something with Taekyung and to go away and she says, "Ok, but I'm REALLY gonna wait for you".
It's hard (for me at least) to believe that it's "she doesn't know how to take a hint" and not "she refuses to take a hint", BUT we have a long way to go. I don't hate Sohee though. I hope she actually gets a happy ending.
Well this certainly just got more interesting. It seems now like Daon has feelings or is developing feelings for…
Sohee introduces herself in the second episode as the "crush of 3 years" of Daon. So, she's openly liked/flirted with Daon for three years, but is still not in a relationship with him...I don't think Daon's the one who needs clarification here.
I know Shinwoo/Taekyung is end game for most people and I won't be totally unhappy if it is, but Daon! :'( Some may write him off as a basic bootlicker, but there's something to considered in the defense of people who tend to be more deferential. Daon's only as clueless as he is because he's as attractive as he is. He really doesn't seek or yearn for attention, people just give it to him and he doesn't want to be on anyone's bad side. I think his lack of interest it only comes off in a mysterious or "mixed message" kind of way to Sohee because her own personality is so dominant. So far, Daon acquiesces to her, but really doesn't try to deceive her. Another tragic thing about him is that he's so good at being nice to everyone that when he's actually trying to be *extra* nice to the person that he likes, the person can't even realize it. T_T If Taekyung ends up with Shinwoo, my heart would be completely at ease if Sohee somehow ends up with Sinwoo. Something about him being silly to try and cheer her up while looking for his phone just got me wanting to ship them.
Aesthetically, I wouldn't have put these two actors together, but somehow, it's working out for me. Also, we know *how* Sun grew up, but would like to have known *where* he grew up. He was adopted by Sky's dad, so did he grow up in the care of the bodyguard who trained him or??
This isn't fair. You had the capacity to see the very faint glimmer of quality in a show like The Cupid Coach,…
I wonder if it's because Tae's very measured about having friends. He wants to have friends and express himself more, but he's not sure who he's ready to do that with. He seems like he's getting ready to do that with Daon, but we also see that he's apprehensive since Daon is already everyone else's friend and too eagerly friendly. He obviously wants something to do with Shin Woo, but Shin Woo doesn't want anything to do with him rn (on the surface anyway). Despite being the main character, so far we've gotten to know the others through him, instead of more about Tae himself. I don't think they'll that up though.
Also, I don't really see him as being only being awkward. He's observant, curious, direct, and apparently brave enough to tell a group of obviously aggressive guys to shove it.
I really hope Taekyung will end up with Daon. But I can see them pulling the enemies to lover trope and having…
As of right now, I'd like him to end up with Da On too, but I'm almost positive that's not meant to happen because if it were, it would pretty much negate the need for Shin Woo's character altogether.
I'm still not getting why everyone likes this so much. This episode was much more interesting than the previous…
This isn't fair. You had the capacity to see the very faint glimmer of quality in a show like The Cupid Coach, which was categorically bad in basically every respect, but you can see any substantial appeal to this show? Really? lol I'm not going to defend how great it is yet because I think it's still getting set up and my opinion of this set up is that it's taking too damn long, but I really think your evaluation of Taekyung is too harsh too soon.
I liked it, but kinda wanted a little more to happen this third episode. I don't think we needed that much time with the date and showing So Hee's character. We get it. She's the jealous, spiteful girl character. Back to Taekyung and more importantly: Shin Woo, please!
