Well, as usual, I enjoyed MarkKit this episode. I love watching their relationship progress and it reminds me in some ways of my own...especially going to the temple to make wishes and pray to Goddess Mazu. My bf and I have done EXACTLY that on several occasions.
I've been more or less ignoring Wayu/Thanu/Phai as I wasn't as invested in their arc, but then this premonition thing coming out of nowhere? Weird, but they have more of my attention now. I think it'd be somehow less weird if only one of them had seen it, though. And according to these premonitions, it seems clear that Thanu and Phai will get together, but at some point, Thanu's gonna go through some sort of doubt about their love in the future (probably because of Wayu?) which leads Phai to say "No matter who you have in your heart, my feelings are still the same." So, what to make of that? Because I hate to say it, but it looks like Thanu might end up being a bit of a jerk in the future .
Speaking of jerks, I actually kinda missed Padbook this episode.
That kissing scene between Bun and Tan was completely abrupt and out of nowhere given that they had just robbed…
The testosterone and pent up sexual tension were already there. They just needed the adrenaline rush to give them extra push to the bedroom. Robbing Inspector M was that push. lol
Dam is the supposed leader of the gang, That's gang. He connected the dots, Sorawit said Dam only wears black,…
BRUH. I didn't even catch on to that, but I'm low-key happy? Like I wanted Tan to really be a "bad guy" and of course Bun finds out AFTER they have sex. lol Thank you. You just made me even more excited about this series than I already was.
Jaa and Fiat = love themKimmon and Copter = Love them Nat and Max = Love them in WhyRUYoon and Talay = ummm i'd…
I'm not crazy about Jimmy and Tommy either. I think Talay/Perth may be /slightly/ more visually appealing to me, but Talay/Yoon chemistry is just really good. Granted, Talay and Perth's roles in My Engineer were such that they didn't really get to the point of heavy interaction yet, but still...I prefer Talay/Yoon just a liiiittle tiny bit more. lol
This was a great episode this week for me for several reasons, the most shallow one being: shirtless Inspector M. Also, I ship That and Sorawit /so/ hard and I hope nothing bad happens to either of them.
You've made such great points here, thank you! I'll add this...At the rate this is going (and I could be wrong),…
It's funny you mentioned The Effect. I was thinking about it as I read this thread and it's the only Thai BL that comes to my head too in which the rapist gets some sort of retribution, but even in The Effect, I don't think he got what he truly deserved.
I liked it. Apparently, this was made by the same people who did Where Your Eyes Linger? I’m not sure, but I see a lot of comments comparing the two. Imo this one wasn’t as good, but I still really enjoyed it. It’s lighthearted, funny, and the leads have chemistry. My favorite aspect was how bubbly Sangha is. He’s just a walking, well, running, ray of sunshine.
Yeah, that plot point's overused. I think falling for a straight/"straight"/questioning person and becoming angsty…
I don't mind the plots with gay guys falling for their straight best friends. You're right that happens a lot and so many films/shows have shown what a beautiful mess it is, but I just don't specifically like how often those film/shows end on a happy note, as in both of them getting together after a really short period of time. I'm not saying we gays don't deserve happy endings to our youth, but is it really necessary to exhaustively show us realistic gay life up until the very end and switch to fantasy? I guess it is all for the fantasy. My Bromance is one of the only Thai BLs that I can think of off the top of my head that presented queer teen life beautifully and realistically from start to finish without being too sad (side note: I definitely cried. lol). Two low-budget productions Key Love and My Friendship also felt true to life, though much darker in tone.
I guess Chon doesn't come off as immature to me as he does just selfish. Everyone's allowed to fight for their love, I'm just really uncomfortable with the notion of making someone "realize" they're both gay AND into you. Like, yeah Ton is into Chon and loves him deeply, but the notion of a romantic relationship with Chon is something he's quite blantantly said he didn't want and this is on top of the fact that he doesn't want to come to terms with his sexuality and displays a lot of homophobic behavior too! Yet here we have Chon and no fewer than five other people purposely manipulating Ton to get him to do something he's clearly not ready to do. I mean, I'm not really trying to defend Ton, I swear, because I don't like him either, but I feel like in spite of his personality and temperament, there are so many better ways Chon and his "team" could be going about this.
It's horrendous - like inexcusable. It's as if this show was filmed 5 years ago and forgotten on a shelf and someone…
In the context of gay coming-of-age film plots internationally, the plot of ITSAY is formulaic and isn't anything that hasn't been done several times over since the mid 00s in one way or another. In the context of Thai BL, It's in a different realm. ITSAY's strongest points imho are storytelling and cinematography. I didn't like the ending, but I'll be damned if it wasn't the best gay show I saw last year alongside Cherry Magic.
This series is far away from being perfect. There are so many unnessersary characters and also some scenes are…
Part of the reason I never got around to watching season 2 of 2 Moons is because Kim/Copter weren't in it. Since then, I've been patiently waiting to see them on screen again. I can't believe how completely enamored with them I am. They really are one of the most, if not THE most underrated BL couple right now.
