No breakup in a jdrama "A Calm Sea and Beautiful Days with You" - arranged marriage plot with them slowly…
Thank you! This is exactly what I need if I get to finish "The Princess Royal" without my blood boiling of dropping it any second now!

Title The Princess Royal Spoiler
FL decides to live separately from ML because apparently he cared for another woman, that was on her deathbed…
I feel like all of that character leverage and influence feels hollow and forced by the writers. The fact that this guy had no power is introduced early in the story, and used to justify why FL and SML couldn't be together right away in this second life, but suddenly and out of nowhere, we are presented with an SML whose father is an important and active member of the imperial court and backbone of the noble families; if that was not enough, he is given a high position in the ministry of Justice and the emperor himself seems to favor him by giving him power and authority in multiple occasions.

I believe I understand how this weird and annoying love triangle works by episode 15. The problem seems to be that the relationship is very "political" and many, including the main leads themselves, and SML are convinced that there are no feelings involved therefore, FL "heart" is still available, and while this is the "reason" why this love triangle seems to be allowed, it just makes no sense. Even if this was true and their marriage was political, they are legally married and part of the royal family which carries a lot of significance, and doesn't mean that they are free to fall in love with other people. If we go by that, most marriages back then were for convenience, but that doesn't mean that it was a free for all where people where married to someone and in active relationships with other people at the same time...

Following the previous argument, we know by now that ML loved and still only loves FL, because he said so himself, and was extremely obvious with the way he treats her and his jealousy as well. However, we still have a problem with FL in this regard.

FL recognizes herself that she never felt love for SML, and it was more like a deep and strong bond with a friend, which was confusing for her at the time because she felt betrayed by the person she actually loved, but even after recognizing this herself, she insists that involving her feelings in her "marriage" is dangerous, but that just makes no sense, since the danger would be if she thinks that he killed her, which she knows from very early on not to be true, and in fact, that the other guy who she defends and still prioritizes killed her himself, and not in a nice and quick way, but poisoning her and widening the gap with the person that she actually loved for years!

There is absolutely no reason for FL not to recognize her feelings for ML, and become a power couple in full to bulldoze their enemies together.

Instead, we thankfully get the bickering and heartwarming relationship of our main leads, but then the shadow of a nonexistent relationship with SML is constantly looming over them. FL loves teasing ML with her interest and "affection" for SML, instead of making up her mind, even when ML has asked her directly several times about her feelings.

This reply is long enough, but I cannot end it before agreeing completely with with the fact that it makes no sense for SML to pursue FL. In the first place, he killed her and there is no doubt about that regardless on how noble they try to make his intentions. The story is trying to convince us at every corner that FL has conflicted feelings and cannot choose between ML and SML, but by episode 15 it is more than clear that the love between the main couple is exclusive to them, but maybe because of FL's fault, SML thinks that FL is in love with him. I say that it is FL's fault because ML's interest in FL is undeniable and SML should be able to see that (sometimes I am not sure, and think that he is too stupid, and thinks that they are just a marriage of convenience after everything that has happened). To be fair, FL sends to many mixed signals in SML's way with the way she treats him, which is why my biggest complain is not even that FL hasn't recognized her feelings with ML because I feel that it will naturally happen at some point, but the fact that she has not made things clear with SML, and let him know that without a hint of a doubt, she has no feelings for him, and what's more that she is in love with her husband...

I am also glad I am still watching because while I am still annoyed by the scenes with SML, the ML finally told FL that he never liked the other girl, and she has a good conversation with herself where she finally sees that what she felt for SML was a strong bond of friendship and not love! I am here for the main couple and yes, their chemistry is great, so I hope to get a lot more from them, while at the same time, I am so ready to skip SML as soon as his scenes start to annoy me again...

This ML is worse than a simp because not only he lets the FL do whatever she wants with him, but also is helping her to get together with the other guy... I am on episode 10, and he has the other guy picking her up in the wedding after making it clear to him that this wedding is basically a business deal (not a real marriage in a sense)... It was ridiculous enough that he is getting exclusive scenes with a romantic tone with FL, but with ML being so weak and spineless, if it wasn't for the promise of the main couple actually committing to each other and their undeniable chemistry this would be a nightmare to watch worth dropping any second by now...

It is funny how even in the second life, FL has full on romantic scenes with SML with background music and exclusive scenes (the level of disrespect), but ML dares to mention this other girl for whom he shows no interest at all and FL looks like a thunderstorm ready to destroy him... He is not perfect, because he should have told her in the first life right there that he has no feelings for this other girl, or in the new life at least, but she should set the example and keep her distance from the obvious villain and intruder in her relationship...

Why would you watch it again if you didn't really like it? She never loved SRQ. She only loved PWX. She wanted…
This is a lie, she did love the other guy, or at least liked him. She was obviously biased towards the guy even after she found out that he killed her, and like that wasn't enough she would treat ML badly even after the misunderstandings were cleared and he would selflessly put her and her interests at every turn ... but then you tell me that she doesn't even reject right away this guy's marriage proposal after everything... another scene to skip for me...

I am sorry but there are things that belong only to the main leads and allowing a third person into so many of these elements removes the uniqueness that should only exist between the main leads.

I agree. She’s a loving, caring, reasonable princess. Wanting to save someone’s life, even if that person…
I respect your opinion and hope I feel as strong as you feel about the main couple by the end of the show. However, it was FL who forced ML to live separately; She found ML holding this girl on her literal deathbed and gives him al ultimatum with only two options, and since he seemed like he wasn't able to speak for himself or excuse himself at all in his first life, than I guess that that's that. I Insist because I really like the main couple, that I feel as strong as you do about the main couple's relationship by the time I finish watching this one...

I upsets me so much that she is so obsessed with this other dude... I am only on episode 5, and if it wasn't for the skip button, I wouldn't watch this with all of this SML BS!

Ok, so I am just over halfway through, and it's pretty clear that Li Rong is incredibly selfish and entitled.…
I strongly believe that the main leads belong together because that is the whole point of a romance story, but in this occasion I even hoped for a moment that the ML would go away and find the "real" female lead in his second life, only for the current FL to be played again by the other guy, and come back for ML to find that he is not available anymore ...

I agree! Besides, a woman that loves and respects her husband, can still be smart, independent and resourceful. "The Prisoner Of Beauty" is a perfect example of a woman that is a good wife, and still has her own thoughts and she obtains what she wants with smart moves instead of just because...

Useless ML No self worth or value What a shity drama, bang bang average
I couldn't agree more... this seems to exist for the sole purpose of convincing women that it doesn't matter how bad you are or how you disregard or disrespect a man, you are worthy of one that will die for you in exchange of nothing...

Yes! This Argument! She is most definitely biased towards the other dude, and while the relationship she has with ML is unique, she still has and somewhat still has (in the second life) with another man... ML helping the girl was an obvious misunderstanding and nothing happened, but he was the only one who remained loyal to her while she did not waste a second to get a new boyfriend... let's be honest, Dramaland is supposed to have true love, love of those who make people wait for 20 and 30 years for the other person, and even after getting the chance to do that in her second life she still was way too close to the other dude ... I myself, I am only on episode 5, but I am already ready to skip SML and all interactions with FL...
