I believe that there are way too many people confused about what a love triangle is... A love triangle do not require reciprocity, it only requires at least two different people liking the same person. Most dramas have the female lead not liking the other guy, but that does not make it less annoying because the writers insist in giving these characters a lot of screentime, a ton of scenes with FL, the guy blocking the main couple and persisting even after multiple rejections. In this case, then yes, there is a love triangle here, and what's worse is love triangles in historical dramas are not only about another guy interested in FL, but a guy that wants to marry her to the point (most times) where he already decided he is going to marry her because aparently, only a few male characters can be decent enough to actually care about what the girl wants. I plan to still watch this one, but thanks to your comment I will be ready to skip any love triangle scenes.

I decided to give this one another chance, but I read somewhere that it will have a love triangle that exists on both seasons. Do you know anything about this love triangle? What can you tell me about it?
I just finished episode 6. when does it get better? All im seeing is the FL getting abused left and right. This…
I am on episode 5 now, and I need her to be able to protect herself and be protected as well. I need to watch a power couple even when they are not together yet from both main leads.
I did not like "Si Jin". The plot is all over the place and too many elements are abused for the sake of creating angst with no proper motivation or development. The romance is enjoyable, but the plot inconsistencies in addition to a last minute separation during the last few episodes doesn't help the already bad written and poorly executed show that otherwise had great potential.
They never explain her past life so if that is what you are waiting for then you'll be just as disappointed as…
I believe they explain that they separated because they make her jump off a cliff after writing a separation letter which was forced. However, it doesn't change that too many things are left without a proper explanation.
1 from ep 16 (but not officially) 2 There isn't any3 There is a 2ML, but FL doesn't like him and tells him very…
I am in episode 22, and while they seem to be flirting they are not together yet... For what is worse, he is a fool in love and she is a selfish person that goes around his back to help her friends from the enemy nation... I feel sad for ML.
I agree! I am still watching this one but it has gotten to the point that the only way to somewhat enjoy this one is to shut down your brain and have the skip button at hand, to maybe enjoy the romance a little bit because the all over the place plot and female lead, and wavering simping ML may ruin the romance for you if you are not careful...
My other complaint is about FL since like the plot, she is all over the place... I understand that she felt she had no other option than to join the enemy when she was left for dead, but in her new life she is playing both sides because apparently if someone was in her flashbacks she has to save them or something regardless of what is the right thing to do... The romance is the only reason why I am here, but they opened with a male lead that fell in love without any setup or development, he was just in love, another annoying (trying to be funny) love triangle that is no more than a waste of time, and finally more dragging instead of getting them together, and focusing on the plot... I need to find a good show after this one.
This is the first time in a long time that I read a long review from beginning to end. I am currently watching episode 22, but I had to look more into this show because I was surprised. My surprise is that on the surface everyone has praises for this show and comment that it is a good watch, but the more I watch, the more I am unable to find why so many people has this in a high place. I have to say that I agree with everything you said, and I don't expect the show to improve or change in the second half. I would've prefer is they decided to give us 2 - 3 episodes of her past at first than all of this out nowhere and all over the place flashbacks that end up explaining or justifying nothing at all.
The only reason I am watching this show is for the promise of a main couple without break up from beginning to end, however, the inconsistencies just make it difficult to enjoy the good parts of this drama.
The female lead's first life is odd and tries to cover too much making her know way too much about way too many things, and having her abused by her family, married to another abuser, her brother and father dying, one of her sisters dragging her to be molested and another sister taking her own life, but then you have that she is somehow divorced or something and living in the frontier, meeting ML, getting on the bad side of the princess, left for dead, rescued by the enemy nation of spies and/or nomads, learning that supposedly her husband (ML) dies, killing the princess and then being killed by ML... if that seemed long and confusing is because it is even worse in the show.
I still believe that show has good parts, but they should have anchored the plot better, and find the way to make all events connect properly and contribute to the plot.
I love how Jiang Si speaks her mind and stands on business.
Completely out of character for a woman from those times, but I guess people like the fantasy of a modern woman in ancient times even when that wouldn't really work, and instead she'd have to rely on smart but careful planning... but well ... it is what it is
my thoughts: went into this with high expectations since it was recommended a lot on reddit but i came off disappointed…
Unfortunately, many historical C-Dramas are plagued with a modern women mindset applied to a period drama which can cause a lot of noise between the story, the characters, the plot and even the acting. There are ways to create a powerful woman figure in a historical C-Drama, but you must follow rules, and understand that men had more power, more influence and more rights, which is why a smart woman will thrive using methods that would work in those times. A perfect example of this being properly executed can be found in the C-Drama "Prisoner of Beauty".
Re-watching, and I don't know if it is because I know what will happen and want it to happen already, but this show is extremely draggy on my second watch.
I’ll send you a copy of an answer I already gave to someone : I liked it ! But it depend of your tastes.Jiang…
I guess this FL is more straightforward than many, but I am episode 12 now, and even-though she knows that this other guy is actively courting her, she keeps getting close to him. She is not flirting with him, but considering the time when this is happening and that this is a drama, accepting any kindness from this other guy can be interpreted as giving him hope... I wouldn't call that straightforward, specially, if it is true that she only rejects him on episode 25 out of 40...
Some people have commented that this show has no love triangle, but that is simply not true. There are multiple love triangles in this show, but the main leads are not interested in other people.
