Maybe because his character is supposed to be cold but somewhat cool, but instead you get another generic cold dude who is super famous and popular for a niche sport that realistically only a few people would follow and because he is attractive, but the cold part is actually a guy that is rude, condescending, socially inept, without common sense, basic knowledge of how to use a smartphone even when he is supposed to be a prodigy and a genius, and more ... Yeah... I think I understand

This is a J-Drama, they will most likely end up like best friends and the other guy will tell the protagonist something stupid like "I can take her away anytime", and the guy will just laugh that off... xD

Too many Japanese dramas suffer from this. For some reason, most female characters in Japanese dramas are unable to say no and must comply with whatever any person tells them to do. I have seen J-Dramas where the girl is literally assaulted by a guy and not only does she brushes it off like nothing happened, but she will even stay friendly with that person. The worst part is that these toxic tropes are not isolated for women; J-Dramas are flooded by male leads that could watch their significant other forced into a room by a random guy and they would just stand and watch and then either blame the girl or become best friend with abuser by the end of the show... J-Dramas need to do better.

Thank you for sharing, but I think I'll pass on this one. I hate love triangles too much to endure two annoying love triangles in one show.

I am on episode 10, and I found very uncomfortable that the mother even considered literally tricking other people into marrying her mentally challenged son (that is mentally 7 years old)...

I believe that this show is worth watching, but I am not on that episode yet. Worst case scenario I can simply skip them.

As I am starting to watch this show now, I am considering skipping side characters to arrive at their dating era faster.

Break up can work in a story, but if that will make the story better or worse depends on the writing, because in my experience, most times, it is just a device to postpone the main leads happy ending. Someone who does things right can even increase romance during break up, showing how much they miss each other and becoming stronger emotionally so after they get back together, nothing can separate them, but again, way too many dramas where the main leads are supposed to have a fairytale kind of love break up for the slightest misunderstanding or just for noble idiocy, which is why I generally prefer whenever the show does not have a break up at all.

Yes, there is a break up! But "Go Go Squid 2: Dt. Appledog's Time" doesn't have a break up as far as I remember...

Don't quote me, but I believe I read somewhere once that it does have a break up, but I don't remember the details.

Hey, DrBuni! If I remember correctly, this one prioritizes the plot and the action, but the romance is very much present throughout the whole story. In Happiness, the romance is subtle and maybe even hidden in plain sight, but this one has a lot more romantic interactions like little cute accidents, but still has a good plot, almost like action story from a Webtoon.

I am only on episode 8, but thanks to your comment, I am ready to skip now, because while I am laughing a lot now, I am here for the romance.

On the contrary, I believe this drama is great, which is exactly why it makes no sense for characters like Chu Zhao to have so much artificial relevance in the story, because the story was perfect without him. The romance had good pace and the plot developed well, and would've been the same or even better without filler characters like him.

It was very funny for me when I realized that Chu Zhao character was beyond useless. He was first the minion of the Chancellor, but the Chancellor himself would send someone else to do the work anyway, then, he was supposed to put pressure on Xiao Jue but he was powerless to do anything about it, then, he gets two promotions and the ear of the emperor simply for tagging along, and does nothing with his new authority beyond stalk the female lead that doesn't even register him beyond another of her buddies... waste of screentime
