I agree. It felt a little odd to me too. We didn't get to understand how it made sense in her heart and mind. They look good together and their relationship is sweet and all. But in comparison with the jungle gym scene where she tried to convince him it was not the kind of feelings he thought it was, this sudden realisation was a bit off in my opinion.
