I recall watching a video on Douyin in which the cast and director were talking about how they changed the romance…
It is all in their words and double play. When a man gives a woman his handkerchief, it means he is showing interest for her. When Su tells meals must be eaten, he meant something else because it’s a Chinese expression. He asked her when he placed the flower in her hair, “Are we steady now, my young beauty?“ she replied „Steadied,“ meaning yes, she considered them as a couple. When she was almost raped and he gave her a whistle, he told her to call for help next time because he didn’t want “before the game is over, to lose his chess piece (qi rhymes with WIFE) and she smiled at the word play. Lots of such instances throughout their dialogues. So the romance is there. It’s just in their naughty wordplays.
Most of us have been asking that question since beginning, but we decided to put the logic away and just accept…
You’re talking about a woman who can see the ghost of the real Jiang Li and who can make a whole CGI show while playing the Qin. 😆 of course getting out of being buried is a piece of cake! 😂
he still literally dug a grave and put his wife in, burying her alive. he deserves whatever the plot has ready…
Right, I agree. But he "cared" enough to feel guilty LOL. So he's kind of sick in a way, no? I really believe there are layers of evil in him we haven't seen yet. And maybe not the mwahahaha kind. He's the kind that wants to sell his soul to the devil and will live to regret it because you know how that trope goes--the devil always have a surprise for the signee :).

I don't even think the word "care" comes into his thoughts. It's more about how he was going to survive this "challenge." I don't think he'd planned to have his wife killed, but I do think he'd planned to use the Princess as a step up the ladder. The Princess, however, was unhinged and then suddenly, he got caught up in the gold mine/King Cheng web. So to go up higher, his next challenge was--yes, how to get rid of the Xue family. Regret? Sure. Sadness? Sure. But that didn't stop him from being greedy enough to GO THROUGH WITH IT. I'll bet you in later episodes, we will see it be revealed that he'd been playing his cards close and that he was playing his own game of chess. I'd also add that the Princess' brand of sickness had also infected him.
He isn't married to the Princess and his previous wife is already his ex. Guess you need to search for an alternate…
During the first episode, girl, she was still his wife. He was holding a shovel, so I meant THAT scene. The song is meant to be ironic. It's OK, my humor ain't for everyone. :) I'm just having fun while sitting here waiting for my next episode.
Tongue-in-cheek while we're waiting patiently for next episode.... If this were not Chinese opera, but a Western musical of a dark comedy, here is Shen Yu Rong singing to his soon-to-be ex-wife at the start, shovel in hand:
THE Rick Astley chorus: Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you **** Oh, wait, Evil Princess' orders! Whack!
"I don't want, before the game has ended, for my QI to be taken." Bwahahaha. I keep replaying this part.
Yes, there were several flirty lines like that. Earlier, in that other city, he asked her "Are we steady now?" referring to an earlier stumble, and yet...not. LMAO.
I was wondering exactly the same thing since there aren’t that many episodes left. Unless it’s at the very…
Well, I have listen to the channel before in Malay with all the spoilers on The Last Immortal and she had been correct. And now I have seen all the spoilers for the rest of the show ha ha

I don’t know how else to explain to you that murder is wrong in whatever language or whatever reasoning. But if you want to sympathize with them, imagine him standing in front of a court and saying, „I didn’t want to die. I didn’t want my mom and sis to die either. So I killed my wife, her brother and my father-in-law. That’s okay, right? I mean, evil princess!“ And the court says, „Oh! Evil princess! Why didn’t you say so? OK, then, not guilty! Carry-on.”
