I read with great interest everything you all write here. The level of discussions is high, qualified. What catches…
Eh, I post here for fun and games. My dreams are with food and tea, my friend. I just critique plot, writing, camera work, dialogue for fun, nothing more. The more I do so, the more it shows my interest. If there were no continuing shenanigans from me, then it meant I have found nothing to my interest to say about the drama. Good luck with your Chinese novel! I look forward to it!
Are you for real? Like she as been playing him all along? I mean crown prince
I suppose I could see her that way. The way she talked to MRJH is so brusque and unromantic LOL. JingHe has never viewed her as a childhood sweetheart, has he? More like a bro, in fact.
Yes, she could be heartbroken but I interpret it as in the space of ten years, she had never visited him while he was an invalid, has steadfastly believed him a criminal. what kind of love is that? She claimed they studied the book of Generals together. Surely she understood his mindset as a general? I find this a contradiction.
Regardless, even if she was pretending, she is still robotic with both princes until AFTER she lost her virginity to Clown Prince. Then, at her own betrothal announcement, we see her greet him with an intimate smile. So there, the girl could act like one.

I wrote a bit more in the Other Discussion section breaking down Episodes 1-4 and then 5-9. I'm currently rewatching 10-14 to break down the next segment (and Writer #3), as I call it LOL.

She started not bad at all but her one note became boring to me. No nuance in her character interpretation at all. Even her Younger Self had more nuance!
for those who wanted the spoilers to the ending this is the link https://video.weibo.com/show?fid=1034:5091785463234573use…
I saw the same TikTok BTS of him with a goatie, looking lonely. So that's not the true ending, I don't think. He appeared to be lonely and alone for always.
ok don't worry it's confirmed on weibo it has a satisfying ending I think, so mei lin married yue win and later…
Well, if I could believe there is this magic drug that make you not breathe for three days so they think you're dead and then someone could rescue you from prison as a dead body....I can surely can believe that the poison's antidote is somewhere around and could be written into that plot to save her in the end. After all, she's not a historical figure. She lives and dies at the whim of the writer. Since they're all building up for a happy ending with hearts and kisses via the interlude, why not give the same hugs and kisses for the ending? But eh. Wuxias. They always end badly. That's why I look for spoilers and make sure I watch to a certain happy denouement and just not continue for the tragic end. I did the same with Journey to You (end where they were together and not when she had to leave to visit) and Journey to Love (end where they were all in the happy place before they all just DIED for no reason, every single one of them).
I wouldn't say pathetic, but I understand what you're trying to say: You would like more suspense, a cat and mouse…
Yes, I must admit the speech/dialogue is written well, especially during the quiet moments of our couple just talking. I'm hoping that they (and Writer #2 and #3) won't forget these conversations when the true test of their relationship comes in the next batch of episodes. Heh

I read the book too and it's clear to me the change in tone and intensity in the drama of these "interlude" episodes versus the original author's voice throughout her book. Its cuteness is fun to watch and I was entertained, but definitely, the pudgy suitor, the mosquito moment in bed, etc., deviate from the absolute terror and urgency of the few days prior when they were close to death. I'm just critiquing from a writing/tone point-of-view. The acting is still stellar--both actors brought their A-game into their romance moments--and the cinematography is gorgeous.
I think you mentioned a suspension of disbelief to someone before and yes, we have to do it to accept that our self-immolating, cynical, totally ruthless san wang-ye is a love-sick young farmer boy sewing gloves and that he and his assassin woman are cosplaying in a equivalence of a Renaissance Dressup Festival that will last for 2 weeks. Heh heh. It's all right. The kissing was good. I'm easy to bribe. LOLOLOL.
You saw a beard in the trailers? Link please! Thank you.
OK, I have now seen them all.😆. I am a spoiler so thank you! I also speak Malay, so reading all the comments, most of them were asking where Mei Lin was And crying about the possible BE.
Welcome to cdramaland ,idk if it's the restrictions or something but yeah expected that asawell but only thing…
The ones I see that I”enjoy” have very anusive CEOs they slap, steal the kidney or blood, send the Fl to jail and cause all kinds of torment for half the drama before “falling in love. “ I watch these every night so I know what I’m talking about. I’m not throwing any stones because I “enjoy” these CEO shows. I have a few favorite CEO actors, who are great at least abusive roles:She HaoNan and Liu Qing are two., Just in case you think I’m Talking out of my behind.
