No its an original work but there is a novel written after based on it. There are cut scenes, but they mainly show zjb "taking care" of ytc. Youll see what i mean if you watch them. Their relationship is quite complicated . I think youre right in saying that zjb shows a lot more affection toward ytc than vice versa. I think if not for ytc's past he would have returned that affection too. Then when he discovered zjbs true identity there was no chance of that happening. Patrick quan is ytc's actor. He makes agood point in that ytc is stuck in his past and he cant accept anyone or anything new in his life bc hes so bent on revenge . He just cant move on. So any chance of them having a love story is short lived, which i think is whybppl find their relationship so tragic. Sorry for the long reply, this is just my opinion :)

I've seen the Guest - that was good but not that scary for me as I've watched a lot of horror movies XD I think Strangers from Hell was a little more scary for me cos of how psychologically twisted the characters were.
