“Pai’s love that matches courage”
“ความรู้สึกดี… ที่เรียกว่า รัก”
(A good feeling… called love.)
This quote comes from the book Plaifah gave Phuwanai before her death, and it quietly reflects the heart of this drama. Khun Chai Liang Mu, Khun Mu Liang Kae leans more toward action and justice than romance, centering around Phuwanai, a police officer determined to take down drug dealers and corrupt cops, with the help of our female lead, Pai. While romance exists, it’s subtle that this story is more about partnership, trust, and doing the right thing.
One of the strongest points for me was the duo and the supporting cast. The second leads were refreshingly non-toxic, and there were no unreasonable in-laws stirring unnecessary drama. My favorite character was Tawan, the second male lead. I appreciated that balance a lot. Even the villains eventually got what they deserved, which made the overall journey feel complete. The drama also had its lighter moments, especially Pai’s clumsiness, which brought in natural comedy without forcing it. Somsuk annoyed me at first, but he was funny in his own way, and I liked that he accepted his mistakes and eventually helped the police.
What stood out to me was how the drama didn’t force the supporting characters into backup romances just because they were rejected. Instead, they were allowed to walk their own paths, which felt mature and realistic. Not every story needs a consolation love story, and I liked that the drama respected that.
Interestingly, I felt the real villain wasn’t the mafia gang, but Phu’s friend Chat. He played his role so convincingly that I genuinely disliked him throughout. His betrayal felt more personal, more painful, and when karma finally caught up to him, it felt earned.
The one thing I didn’t enjoy was Pai disguising herself as a teacher at Phu’s house. I understand it was for her safety, but her teaching scenes felt pointless and irritating to me. Instead of showing her genuinely trying to teach, most scenes were just nonsense conversations. I know she’s a dancer and not a teacher, and the drama made that clear but those scenes dragged and didn’t add much.
I also wished the romance had been explored a bit more. The feelings were there, expressed mostly through looks and quiet moments, but I wanted more communication and emotional depth between Phu and Pai.
Overall, this is a fairly typical action drama, and I did get bored at times and action scenes weren't much. Still, I liked Phu’s family, the way Mok slowly came to understand his uncle, and how the family ultimately stood together. I also liked that Phan found her own love. While it isn’t unique, it has its moments with grounded characters, light humor, and a clear sense of justice that carries the story forward.
