So what are the things I learned from the discussions about this series? So many things, but here's one of the biggest ones, if you wanna know if a BL fan is truly an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, make them watch this show. Because believe me, as a lesbian woman who's been around for 3 decades, and a BL/yaoi fan since 2007, I've come across so many types of fans, straight or LGBTQ+, and series like these with very effeminate leads, can show how people really think about LGBTQ + people internally, the homophobes, transphobes, and misogynists unconsciously reveals themselves.

Mind you, MOST of these people are unaware that they are homophobic, transphobic, or misogynistic, so when they do show it after watching this show, let's try not be too harsh, since nobody is born a bigot, the homophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic ideas they had were just a product of their environment. So try to gently nudge them in the right direction.

Edit(9/15/25): today I got too pissed off at one of them and couldn't hold my temper. But still, please do try to be nice and polite as you try to nudge them in the right direction.

Kosol may be the most tsundere male character I've ever seen in a Thai series. Dude may have a gruff and unfriendly exterior, but he is the most caring person in the story. Dude might try his best to hide it, but he cares so much for his little brother, probably even more than anyone, and the man can't say no to his sweetheart.

So why are you uncomfortable? It's because you still see them as men, and not as the gender they are presenting as, right? Now look deeper into that. I said all that I need to say already in my last comment. I'm not going to argue about this, you can't change my mind about this. And I don't really care if I couldn't change your mind either. I'm still going to let transfem people use the bathroom that's safer for them.

Because as loud as the webtoon fans are on Twitter, not a lot of people actually read webtoons, most webtoon readers are within the teens to young adult age range. Also, the series is not just being aired online, it's also being aired on PRIMETIME national television. Not everyone reads webtoon, but a huge majority watches TV. Also does anyone know what the author look like? Most people don't know what the author looks like or who they even are irl. However, almost everyone in Thailand know who owns GMM Grammy, and they also know who Change2561's CEO is, because P'Chod has been hosting a very popular talkshow for like decades now.

So here's the situation... As stated in EP. 6 Prince is a kathoey. Kathoey can mean lady boy, non-binary, transwoman, or effeminate man. In the translation, she is a called a transwoman. Let's also take into account that Prince is hated by half the nation, which means, just like any transfem presenting person irl, there are dangers if they went to the men's bathroom, only amplify that by a hundred, since she is a celebrity and it is a well known fact that she is fem presenting, like girliepop was even wearing heels and a skirt for christsakes.

It has always been safer for femme presenting queer people to be in the women's bathroom, since the chances of being hate crimed in the women's bathroom is significantly smaller than if they go to the men's bathroom.

Also, let's not forget, women comes in all shapes and sizes. And transphobic laws, like banning femme presenting trans people from women's bathrooms is not just detrimental for them, this can also affect cis-women who don't/can't conform to what people see as feminine. For example there have been recent cases in the USA where a women were harassed by people just because they thought they were trans. One is a tall white woman who's working at Walmart, she was harassed by a man for just going to the woman's bathroom, she was threatened with physical assault, just because he thought she was trans, because she's tall, just because she doesn't look woman enough for him. Another case was a black lesbian woman, who's dressed in a stud fashion, who got the police called on her because someone thought that she was a trans person.

See where I'm going here?

Also, here's a grim reality for you; if a man wants to do something nefarious in a woman's bathroom, they wouldn't need to dress like women. Scenarios like that rarely happens, these scenarios usually only happens in the heads of transphobes. The amount of times when a woman was assaulted in a bathroom is not by femme presenting queer people. They were assaulted by men who's dressed like a man. When hidden cameras are planted in women's bathrooms, the person who installed it usually aren't dressed like women, they are dressed like men.

So in reality, femme presenting queer people is not going to be a threat to you in the bathroom. But this way of thinking; the thinking, that they are dangerous, is not only a threat to their safety, it's also a threat to the safety of other women.

Also, here's the thing, you may think you're an ally, but even allies are not immune to the misogynistic and transphobic ideas that were instilled into us from a young age. And the idea that femme presenting queer people are dangerous in women's spaces is very much misogynistic and transphobic in nature.

So it's an established fact that femme presenting queer people are not dangerous in women's bathrooms, and it's also a well known fact that it's dangerous for them to be in the men's bathroom. It's also an established fact that femme presenting queer people only want to pee, poo, or wash their hands in the women's bathroom.

Yes gender neutral bathrooms would be amazing. But not every establishment has that.

So now what? Should we women, expect femme presenting queer people to just hold their pee and poo in until they get home? Should we expect them to risk getting hate crimed in the men's bathroom? Or should we just allow them in our spaces knowing they pose no harm?

Honestly idc what you guys answer in that last paragraph, but I do know I will let my transfem friend come with me to the bathroom, you can side eye us all you want, but her safety matters to me more than your unconscious transphobia/misogyny fuelled discomfort.

For real, like this is the first thing I thought of when I heard that they are changing the setting. Because remember that fashion blogger that almost went to jail back in 2018, because he said something about the dress of Miss Universe Thailand? Yeah that dress was designed by the princess. If someone faced potential jail time for something this small, just imagine what would happen if a company made a series where the royal family of Siam(fictional or not) is painted in a bad light?

Honestly... Most of the people who complain don't even watch the show. Since the politics of the webtoon and show are not too different at least at this point in the story, yes they did tone it down, but the idea is pretty much intact so far. The show is just funnier. They did made some changes though, like changing the setting from Thailand to Senya, and Siam to Thanapura(which i kinda do understand since I don't think the production wanna offend the Thai Royal family), aging up King Chet by like 4-5 years(which is good in my opinion, since I don't think children should be cast as a prominent character in a BL), making Jade's role bigger, Pandao actually having lines(her role is pretty much non-existent in the webtoon, I mean... Girliepop was just there...), and Banjong actually returning Worradet's feelings.

The thing is, the show is not finished yet, so we can't really tell if the show actually removed the things that the webtoon fans claimed they removed, since those things didn't exactly come to light until further in the story.

oh don't get me wrong they(the webtoon fans) have every right to be mad. But they're not directing their anger on the right people. They lost any moral high ground they had when they started bullying the actors, the Thai fans who showed any small amount of interest on the series, and random YouTube reactors. they officially lost the plot completely when these people started calling foreign fans stupid and fake in Twitter, just because they liked the episodes, even though foreign fans didn't know anything about the issue. It's hypocrisy at it's finest, since the main reason why they got mad was because they felt like the author was bullied, only to turn around and bully others in the name of said author. The author also lost all their moral high ground when they started encouraging the bullying through their actions.

For real, I got so weirded out by the fans who claim that the series is a "bastardization" of the webtoon, when the webtoon itself was basically an adaptation too, and the fans of the original didn't drag the author for BL-izing it.

Apparently, according to the author and the webtoon fans, Ping looks "too Chinese".

Yes it's as bad as it sounds.

Yes I still do love the show too. And tbh now I wanna post more about it out of spite. 😂

Also, according to the author they reached out to the production team to lend a hand with the writing, when they said this their fans got angrier. However, they never specified WHEN they reached out to production, because if they reached out when the script was already done, or crew was already filming, then it's understandable if the production couldn't accommodate them, since accommodating them means rewrites and refilming. And seeing how they're acting now, it's safe to assume that they would've demanded a LOT, from writing down to costuming, And I don't think production can afford those changes, specially when the production only managed to get two sponsors, after the webtoon fans absolutely dragged the initial promo that Change2561 aired last year.

Answer about Thai fans: They've been boycotting the show, because they hate that theproducers changed things from the webtoon(they changed the setting from Thailand to Senya, and Siam to Thanapura, and made the series less political compared to the webtoon, the producers also Changed Chaiyachet's age to 18 years old, from his webtoon age of 12-13 years-old(which I'm highly in favor off, since I don't think child/underaged actors should be given prominent roles in R-18 BL shows), and making Jade's role bigger), and they hate that they casted Ping, since to them Ping doesn't look big enough and Thai enough.

The author also didn't like the adaptation, so they're doing all they can to make their fans hate the series, going so far as to change their pen name and title of the webtoon to disassociate themselves from the series...

According to the author, Webtoon owns the rights to the work, and sold the rights to make a series to Change2561 without their knowledge. Change2561's rights ownership is temporary though.

I mean... I get why they're mad, and I was sympathizing with them and their fans at first, that's why I don't tweet or talk about the show in social media. However, I couldn't be sympathetic to the author anymore after they did their most recent action.

The author knows that fans of the webtoon has been bullying the cast (Specially Ping and Aton) and the crew since last year, when the show was announced. However, instead of asking their fans to stop, they've been fanning the fire constantly instead, specially since the series started, making comparison tweets, and whatnot, and the fans only upped the hate and bullying a notch after the author changed their pen name and the name of the webtoon.

Am I the only one who's being weirded out by the author of the webtoon that this series was adapted from? Like, back then ghorl has my total sympathy, but now, I don't think I can sympathize anymore. Ghorl is really trying their best to make people hate the show. I mean I get why they're mad, but going so far as to change the name of the webtoon and your pen name as to not be associated with a series produced by a company who only own the rights to the work for a limited time, is overkill to me. Like, ghorl has everyone's sympathy, the series is not even popular in Thailand because people there know that the author doesn't like the series. Sis had already won. But this?

Like, sis if you really want a series to follow your work 1 to 1, 100%, all you needed to do was to wait until the series is over and you can sell the rights to
another company or produce a
series of your own that follows your story completely.

Now I'm 100% sure that this person doesn't have good motives. Like they knew the actors are being bullied hard, and they didn't say anything to prevent their fans from bullying them, and now this? The author know doing this will make their fans bully the production and actors harder.

Tbh, I was so excited for the 3rd season of the webtoon, but now I don't even wanna read it anymore. I don't even wanna read any of the other webtoons they made.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I know my readership wouldn't be a loss for this author, but it's just a matter of principle. I've been following the situation in Twitter for a while now, and ghorl's patterns high-key reminds me of the patterns exhibited by the pastors of the old christian cult that I left behind, to make the members hate non-members, atheists, and LGBTQ+ people, and it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Kathoey are also considered as third gender in Thailand. So I don't think it fair to directly translate kathoey to transwoman, since most kathoey/ladyboys don't consider themselves as women, kathoey/ladyboy is their identity. The closest western gender identifier to Kathoey is non-binary, I think that's why they used "non-binary main character" in the tags instead of straight up using "transfemale main character". 😃

Nut has said in an interview a few years ago, that he has dated a girl back in 7th grade, but after that he's only been with men. He used to date a male senior during his highschool years, and he had a 7-year long relationship with a man that he met while playing online games(Both guys were implied to have cheated on him). And yeah, I'm so happy that the series is serving camp beautifully, it's such an amazing show.
