sangyeon is a much more interesting character for me because i can actually analyze her actions and think about why she did what she did. you donāt often come across such characters in dramas, since usually itās circumstances or other people that ruin the main characters lives, not they themselves, like sangyeon did.
A toxic trope that is called āromance.ā When will people finally understand that sex without active consent is rape? She literally remembers nothing. The male lead shouldnāt have touched her at all, even if she had been lying naked. Only then could he be called a real man. But what do we see instead? He chases her, stalks her, doesnāt listen to her words at all. And the fact that this is a historical drama is not an excuse. Seeing how many people consider this āromanceā is frightening. This is exactly how violence becomes normalized in our society.
Its not sexism if its the truthIts all a bunch of illogical nonsense
You're focusing on gender - why? That is sexism, in case you didn't know. You reduced everything to women, even in the title.

I also don't really understand the characters yet, but I've only watched 2 episodes and I'm not in a hurry to make conclusions ā I think everything will become clearer later. Even if the story continues in the same vein, that's no reason to blame it all on the fact that they're women š¤”. You could have just said that the series isnāt for you, instead of showing bias and sexism.
Hey do not bs... THERE ARE ZILLION AMAZING FANTASY KDRAMAS. Koreans have ***fun*** fantasy dramas like nobody…
you didnāt quite understand me. comparing light dramas like good day to be a dog or bon appetit your majesty isnāt very accurate, since thatās not full-fledged fantasy. i mean complex, well-built worlds, different creatures, a system of rules - everything, not just turning into a dog or time-traveling without any explanation. i've watched almost all korean fantasy dramas, including the ones you mentioned, so i can say this with confidence. there are a few exceptions that i genuinely liked, but overall the trend is just like i described
i've noticed that koreans struggle with creating well-thought-out fantasy (not just the usual time-travel stories), but i'm still glad theyāre trying. i don't think i'm as disappointed as others. i liked the intro, the graphics, the coloring, and overall their take on the story was interesting. but the directing and the script leave much to be desired. i wish they focused more on the plot instead of empty moments that don't matter to the story, and the writing itself felt flat.
this year, lee dong wook is a good guy in dramas hehe. but both dramas failed in ratings⦠still, I want to praise this drama for its unusual approach. i thought i would finish it just because of dong wook, but this drama actually grabbed me. it stands out with its directing and a script thatās different from the typical k-dramas, which i really appreciate
such a cool concept, but such weak execution. they ruined it further with this sappy romance that doesnāt fit, and constant running around instead of properly developing the plot.
you can see how Park Chan Wook has grown. this film was a failure for me, whereas The Handmaiden is a masterpiece. there are similarities between these works, but The Handmaiden has a much stronger script and direction.
