why do we need all these personal dramatic backstories for the characters... sorry but i didn’t get attached to them enough to feel any empathy. kinda sad how this season’s characters are, no one stands out, everyone’s boring, but they keep pushing this forced drama.
watched 3,5 eps and it’s kinda boring. the games are interesting by themselves but the way they’re shown doesn’t really work for me. they reveal the games without much intrigue, it would be better to have fewer but with more tension. the new characters didn’t catch my interest either, some just die because of their stupidity… i don’t have any favorite here (yet 😏) so it feels boring to me.
the first episode is introductory. 5 left for the main plot. i hope it gets more dynamic, and doesn’t slide into a romantic drama. i was expecting more episodes, but we’ll see how it goes.
well, in the drama they didn't actually show till the end whether something happened or not… i haven't read the manhwa, i'm only judging the drama. still, even if there wasn't sex, it's toxic. the female lead thought there was, and the ml keeps chasing her because of it, proposing marriage and manipulating and deceiving her that way. he doesn't hear the word "no" i don't understand why the fl gave in to this, but i can't blame her, because in reality women often fall victim to such manipulation from men. it would make sense if the story condemned this kind of behavior, not ended with them living happily ever after with a bunch of kids. just think, they even portrayed the fl as happy and willing to give birth to 12 or 13 children (i don’t even remember the number anymore)
sangyeon is a much more interesting character for me because i can actually analyze her actions and think about why she did what she did. you don’t often come across such characters in dramas, since usually it’s circumstances or other people that ruin the main characters lives, not they themselves, like sangyeon did.
A toxic trope that is called “romance.” When will people finally understand that sex without active consent is rape? She literally remembers nothing. The male lead shouldn’t have touched her at all, even if she had been lying naked. Only then could he be called a real man. But what do we see instead? He chases her, stalks her, doesn’t listen to her words at all. And the fact that this is a historical drama is not an excuse. Seeing how many people consider this “romance” is frightening. This is exactly how violence becomes normalized in our society.
Hey do not bs... THERE ARE ZILLION AMAZING FANTASY KDRAMAS. Koreans have ***fun*** fantasy dramas like nobody…
you didn’t quite understand me. comparing light dramas like good day to be a dog or bon appetit your majesty isn’t very accurate, since that’s not full-fledged fantasy. i mean complex, well-built worlds, different creatures, a system of rules - everything, not just turning into a dog or time-traveling without any explanation. i've watched almost all korean fantasy dramas, including the ones you mentioned, so i can say this with confidence. there are a few exceptions that i genuinely liked, but overall the trend is just like i described
i've noticed that koreans struggle with creating well-thought-out fantasy (not just the usual time-travel stories), but i'm still glad they’re trying. i don't think i'm as disappointed as others. i liked the intro, the graphics, the coloring, and overall their take on the story was interesting. but the directing and the script leave much to be desired. i wish they focused more on the plot instead of empty moments that don't matter to the story, and the writing itself felt flat.
this year, lee dong wook is a good guy in dramas hehe. but both dramas failed in ratings… still, I want to praise this drama for its unusual approach. i thought i would finish it just because of dong wook, but this drama actually grabbed me. it stands out with its directing and a script that’s different from the typical k-dramas, which i really appreciate
such a cringe "love will save the world" moment
