It is not the first time we see this in kdramas. The 12yo teen and the 9yo boy or the 9 yo girl and the 18 yo…
Thanks for pointing it out. I love dissenting opinions too. π My concern only stems from not getting used to the idea of literally using children in dramas to drive the point of age gap romances. Adults can do that when they become adults, but kids shouldn't be exposed to dramas where other kids their age are engaged in this type of relationships. It's like society giving them permission to do just that because they saw it on tv. Yk. I also believe, that as adults, we are responsible in shaping their perspectives in the type of relationships they'll have for themselves in adulthood. The kind of exposure we give them is also part of shaping that. Tv is like a mirror in real life. It doesn't have to be real, but it feels like it when we watch it. I admit, in some cases, it's like that for me πThat's my point being. π

It might be true for some culture since it's still being practiced eg betrothal and underage marriage, but being in 2023 and that children are already being protected by laws from such relationships must also be upheld by our society as a means to protect and safeguard their rights to fully live according to their basic human right. Though it's just a drama, in my opinion though, it may bring certain repercussions to their understanding of romantic relationships. Yes, the world is evolving, I just hope though, that this type of romance is something we should as a society wouldn't come into terms with. π’
I absolutely praise the director for the camera work and angle shots of nazha and kai. I didnt feel the chemistry through the characters initially, but men, the direction made up for it. It's one thing for leads to have that chemistry themselves but when the scene calls for the right atmosphere for romance, it's all in the director to make it happen. And episode 12 just screams that! π. I've said in my previous post I don't mind the romance part, but yeah, I've now changed my mind. Hahahaha.
The worst cgi for me that I can still remember in my entire adult life is the deer in The Walking Dead. Lol. That blunder is so huge it's totally unforgettable. π So the cgi in SEL is fine with me.

In kdramas?!? π€― oh no. That can't be true. That means I haven't watched much kdramas in my life yet. π€ I would rather not watch those. πI'd rather stick to my swoon-worthy romance dramas and daydream about them all day long.
The concept is π€.... and to use child actors to get that point across is for me still quite unnerving. They could have used a 20yr old ML acting like a highschooler and a slightly older FL if they want to stress that age gap concept you know. There's nothing wrong w/ using adults as actors acting in these type of themes but, yeah, I'm from the conservative population so Im still not used to seeing children being portrayed in this kind of concept. For the sake of creative freedom and artistic license, they could've just changed some of those crucial aspects, because there might be actual kids watching this drama and we all know how the absence of parental guidance affect how they view these themes and in real life. Right?? π€
After the 8th, I think I somehow understood the intention behind this drama. Some said, it destroyed the novel badly; I haven't read it but I love where the story is going. And probably the reason why ML did this project. I don't mind the romance but what I find interesting is the character of the ML. Virtues like humility, perseverance in the midst of suffering, patience, and his drive to excellence strike me the most. His humility just stands out. And saving mom is just an added bonus to the whole appeal of this drama for me.
Same feeling. This is my 1st cdrama, and I had to reach ep4 before I got the hang of the voice. I realized after…
Yes, I read online that it may have to do with the accent and also some also said it's like a certain standard in the sound of the dramas that they have to follow. I'm not sure, but that's what I've read.
I'm on episode 2, and this seems like a pretty okay plot so far.. it's just, I can't stand Orchid's voice.. please…
Same feeling. This is my 1st cdrama, and I had to reach ep4 before I got the hang of the voice. I realized after this, that cdramas are actually dubbed! Imagine my surprise.
I've mainly watched kdramas, so this is my 1st Chinese drama. And wow, fell in love with this story. Can anyone…
The Legends by xu kai and Bai lu, is also somewhat similar in story> But you have to try modern cdramas too, they're equally beautiful. Start w/ "falling into your smile".
I haven't read the novel but this drama just keeps giving, in terms of it's plot. It's really getting better and better. I never thought I'll enjoy this.i also realized that Im thankful for my ancestors because I know people a long time ago have this kind of love. W/o it, I wouldn't be here in 2023, that's for sure. π
1st episode gave me avatar the last Airbender vibes. I don't know why. π vfx and editing is neat. And xu kai does really well in his action scenes. Gulnezer's visuals is stunning. So far so good. I hope the story gets interesting
So far, destined is a great watch. I hope everything unfolds well and ends well for this drama coz it's gonna be a waste if it's not gonna end on high note. This is beautiful. And I hope it'll stay this way till the end.
Now this is one drama I wouldnt have thought I"ll watch right away after viewing the teaser out of curiosity. Perhaps I was even shocked at the amount of incredulous smiles I had while watching the romance that unfolds in this drama. If you are up for some truly unconventional kind of love story, then this is for you. The peculiarity of the ML character is what makes this drama charming and very fresh to seasoned romance drama viewers. Something you wouldn't see in a typical romance genre. Give this a go. The director really did a good job in making heart fluttering moments to an otherwise boring character. And the script is good too!
