okay so i like it and it was very cute especially towards the end (and next time's preview!) but i gotta say with the Shrine and everything it is a looottt... then again after having watched secret crush on you, it can't possibly get worse than that, i'm desensitized now. also naitou is way young to be acting yanase with the kind of work experience he's supposed to have and everything, but he did do a pretty good job with the acting so i'll forgive that too! (i watched on tver)
When you say ojisan , do you mean older guys? As in, not high school or college kids like all the Thai BLs?
yeah i mean middle-aged men! late 30's up to 50's. japan has done lots of ojisan bl manga since the very start in like the 1990's and i love how they also do live action nowadays!! so many countries just do hs/college stuff, maybe 20s working life... few countries do actual middle aged men y'know. they deserve some love too, thank you japan
This might end up being the best bl of the year for me... I love how Japan makes these ojisan bl's we need moooore of them. The first couple episodes were so cute I was almost crying from it, and the acting and their relationship come off really natural too.
I loved how they shot the scene in ep 5 where Zheng Ze Shou came out shirtless, with him never being fully shown. This way the focus was on the audience understanding Fu Li Gong's feelings in that moment: "oh no he's right there and I can tell he's shirtless and he's hot but I can't look I can't look" So often in a scene like that they'd show us Everything just to give gratuitous fanservice to the viewers, but this way was so much better. It made us focus on what Fu Li Gong goes through in that moment, which is the important part of that scene, and I really felt it. Super happy with how that scene was shot, wish more BLs would know they can take this route rather than always the unnecessary fanservice route
Second ep sometimes Fukuhara's mannerisms seem a bit much, but it does also make sense for his character & is common in Japanese comedies, so I can mostly let it go. Just hope that they'll manage to make more emotional moments still feel real!
It was a super fun first episode, I really recommend!! Getting a university BL from Japan is such a nice change of pace, and the start totally had me... And it's just a small thing, but as a bisexual, I really really loved how Fukuhara said right-out, "My type is good looking people," with emphasis on People. It made me really happy, cus it's a rare thing to hear stated so clearly in BL.
this is definitely a bl in my mind, it's just showing us a romance that's still developing from the beginning of friendship and trust. the romantic tension is very clearly and intentionally there, it just doesn't reach its climax yet in this series. i didn't find it censored at all, they've just got a whole lot of other stuff and baggage to get through before they can take their relationship further. a kiss scene or whatever would've felt really out of place at this stage
This was really happy and fun, but also had emotional parts that got me teary-eyed. And the grandmother made me laugh so hard I had to pause and wheeze for like a minute. Super recommend, it's a quick watch that leaves you feeling happy! (I watched this in Japanese on TVer within one week of release)
for those that are confused about what the point of this show is: it's a family sitcom with the strict rich dad and the soft chef dad co-parenting a spineless bodyguard and a retired boxer. then there's some random kids kidnapped or something idk
