I like how they’re making him court her and experience all the mundane things a man of his stature shouldn’t…
Yes! I would say it's nice to see because I can only imagine a man of his titles and privileges, he obviously have women fawning over him and mothers pushing their daughters over. For him to be nervous and actually plotting to court LMT is refreshing and quite hilarious
Can I just say how much I love the ML? Lol. He is really so unbothered by all the s*** going on in courts. His expression is really LOL especially with Prince Sui. I really like calm demeanour and unbothered attitude. The ONLY reason he goes to the Capital was because his man told him LMT's uncle is there and possibly LMT herself. He only went there to probably hoping he could meet her. LOL.... Under the guise of being "called" to Capital. Really so unbothered until his "wife" is involved.
You can literally hear CXZ's heart breaking and see the agonising pain in his eyes. He knew this is coming when he allow himself to fall in love with her. And he also knew this is inevitable now that he knew she is actually Lu Wen.
Yesterday's episode on how both knew but pretend not to was really heartbreaking. They wanted to be in the lie but they have to face reality.
It really does take LMT guts to break the lie when one can see she is somewhat reluctant too, but she has a family and unfinished business to settle. She has to go back to being the real LMT. And CXZ by now, loves her too much that he has to allow her to leave, knowing she has to.
It is the ML character.CXZ never fell in love before, and was a cold ,ruthless and calculated lord.He did not…
Lol. I still remember when Nanny Li and CXZ side kick were saying that when LMT walked on the streets, everyone look at her... And CXZ was so dense... Asking why? Is she pretty?... Both Nanny Li and sidekick were like.... Zzzzzz
I'm not ready to say goodbye yet.To the world, The Last Immortal/Shen Yin is like a water divine beast, lowly,…
Beautiful review. This is my first WAY drama and despite the bash, I thought he acted perfectly well. He could be cheeky, sly, endearing, heartbroken etc all at the right places. He won me with his acting during the scene where his character accidentally killed Ah Yin
I saw this well said tweet:When GJ/YQ got a lot of hate for being lacking as the ML of ZLS character and even…
Right. The scene when he accidentally killed Ah Yin. That acting was... Really.. I have never sob so hard in any drama. He was so heartbroken and at that few secs, you could see he was trying to say something but couldn't and just hug her. It was really good acting there.
It is so hard to move on. Going back watching One and Only always open a floodgate of water. I just hated the injustice ZSC suffered. T. T.
I am just wondering... If the author or drama has written for ZSC to somewhat remember a bit about his past in FnE, maybe their couple dynamic would take a different turn and my heart will be more soothe. It will finally be like... ZSC gets gets the his Shi Yi... Sobs...
Anyone here know anywhere there is fanfiction for them..i need to sink into it.
Heavy. The last emotion that I felt for this drama. "Forever and Ever" had this heavy touch of rebirth, past-life…
Have you watched One and Only? It's the prequel. After watching Forever and Ever, I feel what u feel... It still feels heavy. I will forever grieve that due to censorship, the reincarnation thing wasn't really properly presented... And it does left me to wonder if the author has wrote that ZSC remembers bits of parcels of himself in the past, their relationship dynamic would have been much more.. Dynamic and perhaps, very interesting to watch...
LOL i notice that and I'm still watching. He's kinda nerd but he still do what his heart told him to. He's slow…
U r right. Like the part when he ask for her number. He gives me this vibe like a nerdy unpopular high school boy asking the most popular, beautiful girl on a date out. Lol
Who has done a complete whole rewatch? LOL. I just like completed the whole rewatch last night with my friend.
After the rewatch, only we realize.. Despite everyone (almost.. Maybe) Prof ZSC is so slooow... But wait... After a rewatch, we realize, he is the 1st ONE to ask her out alone for supper in the middle of the night, he is also the 1st ONE to ask for her phone number and then.. Propose. 🤣 Like it's so easy to lookover cuz Shi Yi seems to be the more forward one... Well, they say... Still waters run deep. 😂
My friend also pointed out, ZSC was attracted to SY at the 1st first time in the airport.. Else, he wouldn't have been bothered to give her his email or reply her (given how busy he is) or even took her out to the temple... This whole thing, he later on confess (in Bremen) in Ep13, that he thought she was very beautiful. He quoted a line from Shanglin Fu, "Her beauty is breathtaking and charming with only a touch of makeup" (which I am sure is kind of lost in translation 😂) So, he definitely is interested in her from the very first meeting. 🤣
So many stuff to notice after you rewatch again. Most seemed to like One and Only more, but I think both are equally good. Allen in One and Only look hotter. That's all 🤣
MBFB posted a comment on her account saying thank you to directors, main leads, production team and supporting…
Omg yes. I felt that is why it is the ONLY thing lacking. That line was never spoken because of censorship. It would have been a better closure to his past life and tie everything up. It is just sad that the whole reincarnation was watered down.
It’s nice to read a different comment like yours.Your point of view on this drama is noteworthy. How you pointed…
You are welcome. I owe it a lot to the hard work of the translations and in-depth views given by other netizens who are watching the drama. Do read Cyn Lynn blogspot for more. She has really done quite a bit of insight in all the poetry lines. There is just so much beautiful poetry used in these dramas
Allen Jialun Ren has been criticized for his role as ZSC. One criticism is that he should not take idol romance…
I thought he played ZSC quite well. Whether in One and Only or in Forever and Ever. He is supposed to be awkward and nerdy in FnE. You can't compare him in past and him in present. I like how charasmatic and all those gazes he threw at SY in One n Only.. As oppose to FnE where if you notice.. He touches his knees often (nervous), wets his lips (i dunno what u call it), fidgets a bit.. Etc... Completely two different characters.. I think it's great acting.
Thank you. Just pointing it out too that LOVE to some people like ZSC doesn't need to be loud and clear and in grand gestures. And that LOVE comes in many forms and ways and each couple has their own way of loving each other.
I think for those who do not know Chinese or is half-baked on it (like me..LOL), we miss A LOT of subtle references and might not FULLY get the prequel/sequel/novel.
Forever and Ever is all about subtleness. A lot of commenters were complaining about ZSC's character without understanding that this man is the epitome of being subtle (I am not going to touch the physical touch thingy).
Example : It took me a rewatch to actually saw him "retaliate". ZSC was NOT okay with Wen Chuan targeting Shi Yi, meeting her to pass the ring in an envelope and attempted to create a misunderstanding. Later on, all of Wen Chuan's dealings couldn't go through. His friend/partner(?) pass him a letter from ZSC, which turns out to be an empty envelope. The envelope was the one Wen Chuan gave Shi Yi which has ZSC's ring inside. It was a very ZSC's way of warning. Do not touch my wife. LOL.
Also, I realize Forever and Ever has this one other consistent theme; TIME. It is frequently mentioned and ZSC is always about it. It felt to me that the original author who is also the scriptwriter for both (correct me if I am wrong), wants to drive the message through that everything and everyone has their own time. It wasn't the time for love for both ZSC and SY in the past because each had duties to fullfill and each has a lot of responsibilities to shoulder. In Forever and Ever, time was "delayed" for them, as SY is able to meet ZSC because she was being held back by that metal detector and ZSC left his ID in the basket.
I also confirm my feeling about this theme thanks to this amazing lady (cyn lynn) who took so much effort to recap and explain so clearly the otherwise LOST CHINESE TRANSLATION.
Do you know both ZSC and SY's name is related to time? I quote from her blogspot :
"Shi Yi may sounds like eleven but the Chinese character Shi means Time and Yi means Suitable/Proper. As for ZSC, every single word relates to time. Zhou can mean week, Shengchen is one word to mean birthday, Sheng itself means birth, Chen itself means time (7-9am).
Isn't it utterly romantic how connected they are? And their love that spans 2 lifetimes. How can anyone say it is boring? T.T
Though I regret the (slightly) unsatisfying closure at the reincarnation thingy....(cuz biography ain't doing it for me T.T ) I thought it would be more satisfying to have ZSC say these exact words to SY "I think I must have used my beautiful bones as an exchange for you to remember me" (it was in the novel). It would have been better because he died so tragically in the past for it. I wanted him to say it is worth dying the way he did in the past because he has Shi Yi in the future.
What I did like though was how they added that extra scenes of ZSC'S relentless determination to take care of Shi Yi when she was in coma. Kudos to Allen for potraying how despair and disappointed and utterly broken ZSC is when he 1st saw her lying on the hospital bed. This part was missing in the novel. I cried so hard at that scene .
I also love how in the past, he couldn't have her because he couldn't leave the "world"/"family" but in the present, he "gave them up" for her.
Such a beautiful beautiful drama. I will definitely rewatch both of them again and cry again and again. LOL

To truly appreciate both dramas and the novel, please do visit and read her recaps:

So much more she has helped translate and give insight into those complicated Chinese poetry/words.
Thank you, Cyn Lynn!!!
