I'd say that about him, not her. I don't think her choosing to live her own dream instead of his was selfish. Not saying she was perfect, none of them are; otherwise, there wouldn't be much of a story to be told. I do sympathise with both of them though.

Exactly. Her whole life revolved around him back then, and she found out who she is on her own in the meantime. He was stuck in the past; the lingering feelings were for the person she used to be, not the one she had become.
I feel like people who are unhappy about the other couple not ending up together either completely missed the point, or are too young to understand why that made perfect sense. As much as I am always rooting for love and I am sad when things don't work out, that was the perfect ending for them. Bittersweet, but I feel like it was done right.
