- I actually fell in love with FL in this one lol. She has such a cutesy character. Like if you see her, you wanna steal candy from her. She is plucky and tries to be tough and acts tough, but is literally harmful level 0. She fights injustices she sees - esp if it involves her money or food. Or if someone bullies her. She expresses all her emotions openly, but with a level of vulnerability that you only see in kids.
Best Chemistry:
- King and FL. They're just too adorable together. Honestly, if I was a girl, I would probably love the king more - he's fun and at the end, it proves he's actually smart. And their chemistry is off the charts.
- I loved the FL's "team" of guards who all revert to her name of "Xiao Chang Zi" even when they see her in female form lol. They all consider her a bro. This team is hilarious and despite misgivings of each other at times, they fight like brothers and treat each other as one. And how can I forget her other eunuch bro - he's unfortunately caught under her influence and stuck with her due to unforeseen circumstances, but he makes a great comedic relief.
Honorable Mention: - The Queen. For once we see a decent queen and head of the imperial harem who doesn't exhibit typical side b*tch energy! She's understanding, beautiful and a great person in spite of her environmental growth. How rare it is for us to see her actually accepting another woman, despite her fervent love for the emperor.
- Whoever voiced the FL in here is genius. How does she manage to make her sound so adorable and babyish without being annoying?! Her emphasis and accentuations in certain places puts me in awe. Great voice actress!
dont know why it takes so long, perhaps it hardly pass censorship by SARFT, so they do some edits?
Apparently even though the acting and storyline is complete, they still need to do post-production work...which can take as long as the actual acting period if not longer. Things they add in post-production: music, lighting changes, CGIs where necessary, editing of scenes and combining scenes, maybe dubbing if original actor doesn't speak proper Mandarin, along with sound effects. After that, they have to look into the best release date and coordinate that with all the other projects onboard.
I know in the end, that there was a bond between SSS (romantic fate god now) and Ao Ge, which is so strange because I don't see what she sees in him lol. I liked Xiu Yan better, he seemed a lot less hot-headed and he did sacrifice his life in exchange for realm peace. How come this boy doesn't get a love line? As for SSS, I love this novel called "SanSheng, Death Exists Not at the River of Oblivion" (find this at NovelUpdates). It ties in to this drama in a way because the MC of that novel is also a rock. It'd be cute if they could make a drama focused on the tribulations of this SSS.
MingQi and Xiu Yan were smoldering. They were, at times, even more enchanting to watch than all the characters, maybe because you can actually feel at peace when they're together. There's no fighting, it's just calm discussions. And MingQi is such a devilish gentleman lol. We can have an entire drama focused on his reincarnations as a devil god, would be fun to see.
It's really difficult to hate any characters in the end. Even HuaShu earned some pity (I think she did a phenomenal job at the end especially, her acting was on point.) Her life is relatively tragic; had Lan Feng been there the whole time, I think she could've done well. I heard that in the novel, her father had cut all her "love strings" from a young age, so she didn't recognize her love for LF. FY later revealed the past and what happened to her and when she retrieved her love strings back, she realized she loved LF the whole time. And then she rebelled against her father. I think that would've made things even more interesting and a great avenue to explore.
The 2nd couple was a genuine joy to watch. I loved that Hong Yi stayed consistently immature throughout lol, but like a toddler boyish kind of immature. It was a good role. I felt he did a lot more for A Yin than Yan Shuang, but he made a huge sacrifice for Yan Shuang as well. Maybe it's cause he grew up, so he's not as obsessed about his love as he was with A Yin. It made me a little sad that he knew A Yin can never return but had she returned, would things be different? It wouldn't have ended well, anyways, since A Yin only loved YuanQi, but still, it's an interesting thought. And then I felt so good for Yan Shuang when Hong Yi reciprocated her love - it was like, yes! All that sacrifice was not in vain. For all the folks who had been rejected or strung on, this was refreshing to watch.
As for FY and YQ, their tale is pretty grand, but not as epic as his parent's lol. Still, I thought their relationship felt more intimate and fun than Shanggu and BaiQue's relationship. I love how young they all felt in this drama. Like many have stated, YQ and FY are basically babies as far as immortals are concerned. YQ didn't even get help from his fav uncle, TianQi. Where the heck are all the other heavy-hitters when you need them?
Oh well - it was a fun ride any time with Lusi, But honestly, you wait for someone for a thousand years and when…
It's not all a loss. Prior to this drama, I didn't know who Wang An Yu was - he got plenty of exposure due to Lusi's influence, and his star will rise as well.
Admittedly, I think his acting was rather flat for some scenes and could've been done better, but he did hit the right notes in others. I heard a lot of his relevant emotional scenes were put on the chopping block due to the drama's 40 episodes rule, so maybe he did put in the acting effort, but for brevity's sake, they took them out.
In any case, the drama has good ratings, and the script was okay (I felt like it was much better towards the latter half, but that could be me.) I knew Lusi wouldn't disappoint and I def feel a distinct difference between A Yin and Feng Yin. She did her homework.
Agreed. wasn't the best scripting out there ( blame on the dumb writers) But it was basically an enjoyable watch…
No, I think so, too. BL is very weak in the acting department. She's good at crying, but other than that, she lacks micro-expressions. She still has a ways to go.

I didn't like WAY's acting for the first half of the drama and his characterization. Some of his acting fell flat and could've used more nuance. But, his character improved towards the latter half, and while his acting is still somewhat stiff, he was dreamy, cute and hawt during that scene-stealing wedding ceremony hijack lol.
I think for the most part he is green flag, just a bit indecisive and impulsive at times. I can blame it on his age, but really age doesn't dictate someone's maturity, rather experiences do. He was coddled, same as his mom.
If I were to compare ALP with SY, I think ALP was far grander and on a bigger scale. But SY is more personal and intimate and FL has more character.
I hate how dramas are made based on books or whatever - yall are talking about things that haven't happened since…
I wholly disagree with this. With adaptations from novels, it means the script was properly planned, written and established before they started filming, with some adaptation editing to be made. That means the whole story has a plot and there are usually good rationale for the character's existence and motivations. The problem with original scripts is that these are usually made on the fly, and hence you have crap endings because there's not enough time to flesh out a story, e.g. JtL, and AJtL. It's not coincidental that both stories led to almost pointless characters' demise.
True, well-written original plots do exist, like Here Comes Trouble (T-drama), Exorcist Meter (HK drama), but these were usually written way in advance and individual contributions, which means these folks were not hired to create the script (these were submitted via a competition.)
The problem you have is the spoilers and people's ideas of what canonical plot should be like, but oftentimes you see that there are differences between the story and the drama, e.g. Joy to Life, so even IF there are spoilers, it doesn't mean they'll still be true in the actual play.
A'Yin is a part of Feng Yin's immortal soul. A'Yin is Feng Yin. A'Yin is a soul that became sentient after entering…
Well, going by the logic presented by the OP, if Ayin is not FY, then GJ is not YQ either. Both of their old identities have died. Ayin is formed from the soul of FY, but the body is Ayin's. I don't really see how this is any different than reincarnation, which FY has done in over 1000 years. GJ has "died" from saving his brethren in Mt. Daze, so it's not totally GJ who remains, just a husk of who he was. He hasn't reincarnated, so he's still him, but it's not really him at the same time
A'Yin is a part of Feng Yin's immortal soul. A'Yin is Feng Yin. A'Yin is a soul that became sentient after entering…
But Gu Jin is also not Gu Jin, since he technically died already lol. So it's a case of new characters meeting new characters who both have their previous memories
i love YL too, but you cannot force someone to love you just because your are kind and your intentions are pure.…
@SD1D Enthusiast No, I don't lack empathy. but I'm saying the logic in the drama makes no sense. If Yan Lin has no chance, then Xie Wei should have no chance either. But fact of the matter is, Xie Wei is the ML and he will get together with FL in the end. It's not fair and doesn't make sense - that's what I've been trying to say all along. But on the other hand, you also lack empathy towards YL; he went thru so much trauma and got rejected in the most brutal way possible by the love of his life. Even after he won the war, he still loved the FL.
i love YL too, but you cannot force someone to love you just because your are kind and your intentions are pure.…
@SD1D Enthusiast - Xie Wei basically pushed her to commit suicide, yet HE has a chance with her, but someone who has actually been intimate with her (YL) and actually tried to repent for what he did to her (in the novel anyways), doesn't deserve her love? No one deserves to be r@ped, and what he did was wrong, but she did a ton of awful things to him as well - in essence, they're both similar in that aspect.
If you know someone will win a war later on, don't you think you would work hard to ensure the relationship between you and that person stay on good terms? So wouldn't you hug their thighs and put it as a condition that no matter what wrongs you do in the future, they'll be lenient on you?
JXN said it herself - Yan Lin is the only person who has never lied to her, has always given her warmth and tried his hardest to be good to her. He has everything she wanted. But, he really is too good for her IMO.
So since Xie Wei is son of Duke Xue and Madam Yan, technically it is his aunt (Empress) that pushed him to his death. Him being Duke Xue's son, how it is possible that Duke Xue doesn't hate the Empress? Could his son's death (Xue Wei) be the reason why he wants power of the throne?
i love YL too, but you cannot force someone to love you just because your are kind and your intentions are pure.…
Don't get me wrong; I know you can't force love, but logically, it's love and security that JXN has always been after. And after YL's fiasco has been solved, and knowing he'll come out as victor in the end, and showing her how much he loved her in her past life, there's just nothing that should make her say no to him. If anything, she should hold onto this thigh and beg for mercy in her current life. Instead she seeks someone who is lukewarm and is afraid of loving her. Like tell me how does this even make sense
Dude, YL is like my favorite character out of all 3 candidates. He really is too good for JXN. Yes, he's hotheaded and not as steady or smart as the other two, but he's also younger than both of them and haven't had a lifetime of adversities to temper him out. With time, who's to say he wouldn't be as good as the other two?
If I were him, I'd demand a reason - that dream reason is just super BS and I wouldn't buy it for even a moment. It's so callously explained, so callous that it feels disrespectful (even if it did happen in the plotline.) How can anyone think that explanation is good enough (or people just skimming it and thinking that no matter the reason, they wouldn't be together and that's it)!
My heart hurts for him. How can JXN even say no to him in the 1st life? He couldn't give her the things she wanted and that's it? How she treated him was very cruel. Even when he came back, he still wanted her, so it's not as if his heart ever changed.
In RL, men like this don't exist. He's too perfect.
One of the biggest dog-blood dramas of the year. The plot became a haphazard toss in whichever direction would lead to more drama.
ML: I loved Peter Ho back in the day and I still think he's an excellent person. But these muddle-headed, bumble-brained roles are doing him no favors. He's doing his job perfectly, but this ROLE isn't supposed to be an idiot. Except he's coming off as one. Not only as an idiot, but a slimey, manipulative, vengeful and ignorant one. I just can't back a ML like this.
2nd ML: Omg, LBY is so sad. Honestly, everything that happened to him isn't his fault at all. He had to willingly sacrifice the love of his life to the ML. A genuinely better ML than the ML. He lost his family, his life, his love and his dignity to the ML to exchange for his life that rightfully belonged to him. He had no choice.
FL: In the looks dept, she's not up to par. But at least she can somewhat act.
I actually like the main villainous FLs more. They're definitely more interesting and colorful.
I find HRZ'us acting very distracting due to his eye surgery (double-lid)... It just feels not realistic some…
Wow, you're right. He did have plastic. And I didn't even realize, but he was the ML in "King is not Easy." Wow, what a transformation -- I did wonder what happened to him after that drama (he made that drama popular IMO as Bailu at that point wasn't in any state to be an actress.) And seeing him in here now, compared to how he was in King is Not Easy -- it's a huge difference. His acting is still *chef's kiss* - he knew the assignment - and can deliver.
Low-key, though, I think he's gay. If you see how natural his mannerisms are in KINE and then check his chemistry with the FLs, and then also being under Yu Zheng...it all comes together, y'know? If it's not true, I'll just say he's a a great actor. If it IS true, he's still a great actor.
It wasn't really explained how she got back to the real world, right? She never put the remaining money into the box, so how did she get booted out of the game? Unless the game ended at that point when everyone got their happily ever after, which is sad.

1 of them is herself (from that drop at the cliff); what's the 2nd one?
