Title A Dream within a Dream Spoiler
Surely you recall how she woke him after falling off a cliff , yanking at him like a sack of potatoes. That scene…
She also made it all about herself again....how dare he hurt her...by making her worried. How dare he make her scared...he only saved her life again and sacrificed himself again...but his hurt is no matter I guess he has been stabbed so many times she probably thinks he cannot feel pain...her lack of empathy is shocking. She is a tsundere but not in an endearing way.

Love your analogy...ML is really ready to become buddha. Also FL is now appalled at how the screenwriter dismisses everyone in the script world as fake but did she not do that herself for far too long. Was she not in willfull denial of reality for the majority of the story? Other than run away even though she knew it didnt work she did not do much. I also resent that people try to justify her behaviour because he tried to kill her. She tried to kill him as well but incontrast to the ML who grew out of such behaviour she never really did. 2/3rds through the story his life still meant nothing to her, and looking a little guilty while disregarding others isnt enough.

I agree people confuse standing up for oneself and being a strong FL with selfishness. I dont find her strong at all only cowardly and selfserving. Even when she supossedly loves him she still beats him and bites him when he is gravely i jured for her...its not cute.

After watching ep 32 I'm wondering how much of NH's love for SYM was actually the screen writer's intention? And…
Since he was never supposed to love her and just use her I guess all his love is his own?

I think what bothers me about the FL are two things, which probably affected other viewers' liking of her too.…
Agree she is passive and lets stuff happen. She doesnt explore different options and is defeatist. This may bot be unrealistic but it makes for a frustrating viewing experience.

Lol agreed her passivity is sooo annoying by now and she tries to pass it of as wisdom...who never risks anything cant gain anything either...but I dont think she ever got that memo.

Ep 32, shows the wits differences between SYM and NH. SYM is always trying to avoid and run from the script, which…
Exactly she is like someone running against a wall over and over trying to carve a path head first without trying to explore other methods or searching for a loophole in the games rules...it is insanity to try the same thing over and ocer and expect a different outcome.

I think I know now why NH is such a compelling character compaired to YM. They represent both sides of a coin when dealing with fate. He defies fate and rejects the idea of destiny and insists on not being governed by such things and carve his own path against all odds as he has frankly always done. He insists that intend and action matter and that decisions form your path in life which is not preset. Where as she personifies a fatalistic point of view of "fate cant be helped why fight it" and is guided by doubt and fear which are stoppers in real life too. Many people are hindered from taking charge of their life because of doubt and fear. It feels safer is easier and requires less bravery. It also easily disguises itself as being reasonable and rational. The drama also shows that knowing your destiny is not a good thing. It feeds fear and nurtures passivity and leads to poor judgements. If you fear something will happen before it has happened you deny yourself the possibility of a positive outcome and treat others unjustly. Also preemtive strikes because of presumptions for the future are inherently amoral as the future no matter how much knowledge can never be fully known.I think this drama is a comment on that. One can understand both points of views but taking charge of your own fate is more compelling. The FL did try in ep 1 and was actually quite successful advancing further and further against the odds but after ep 2 she somehow gave up until she found her strength again today.

I think you are partly right when you say many like ML and then want him to be happy and bash the FL too much because she does not automatically become enarmoured and forgets every horrible thing she knows about him. But your other conclusions are really wrong. I dont think most female viewers are jealous of the FL because she is prettier and that is why they dont like her. Especially in Drama
land where most FL are unbelievably beautiful that statement does not make sense if you consider that the primary target group of sich dramas are female. Secondly calling all female viewers who criticise FL s behaviour and that are emotionally invested in the drama irrational and immature is a very undifferentiated view. Is it not the hallmark of a good drama that people are invested in the story? And are men not equally capable of it? I have watched many a youtube video about GoT or LotR where men analyse the story and characters on the quality they are written in and nitpick very small details because they like analysing storys and because they are emotionally invested in a piece of fiction. Worse you postulate that any female that disagrees with you must be one of those irrational creatures you mention and therefore confirm your view that your regard as a fact....thats confirmation bias. No matter what one does your opinion remains unchanged...kinda like the female lead...that ignores all new information that challenges her previous knowledge. No wonder you identify with her then...My grief is not with her rejection of the ML or the conclusion to distance herself but in how she treats all paper characters also the ML and does not self-reflect very much. I think a healty opinion is not achieved by doubleing down on it but by constantly reevaluating and challenging it to confirm it its still valid and ajust if necessary. She does not struggle with evidence that challenges her view. That ultimatley her conclusion to not entangle herself with fictional characters remain the same is plausible but while trying to escape the plot she never explores different paths of actions she remains emotionally distanced from everything and rejects everything and does not try any alternatives like allying herself with other characters or confiding in them so they can change the narrative together. That is pretty unstrategic and also not a very compelling viewing experience. It would be more interesting to see her struggle with becoming invested in that world but trying to remain detached because they are fictional and that is the rational thing to do. Otherwise what any character despite herself does becomes pointless and the viewing experiences is boring. Why bother with any paper characters fate at all if we dont take them seriously at all. Also this is a romance story so there should be a progression in behaviour. I agree with you it should be believable and she should not drop her pants and forget everything just cause the ML is hot but since the ML changes and deviates from the behaviour thatbshe read about and there is progression there should be a little more progression in herself too. Especially since by now both have done terrible stuff and both have tried to kill the other. If she struggles with her previous knowledge and the fact that there is evidence that challenges her previous knowledge it is not shown very well. I hope my point comes across that there are things about FLs behaviour and chatacter progression that can be critizied from a writers point of view that has nothing to do with wanting to f**** the ML or being a jealous b**** over a Female that is pretty...thats such a reductive and basic viewing lense you put on. Now it depends if you see my rebuttal as "angry" or not whether any of this is taken into your consideration.

that turn over was done way too fast 29 eps full of distrust only for everyone to suddenly be on Nan Heng's side…
Agree their insight was rather sudden and felt unearned or rather it was weird that they dropped all their prejudice all of a sudden and had the audacity to say..." why did you never say anything?"....I was ready to beat them over the head with their question...

CGH has officially lost the plot seeing as NR is the voice of reason
But I at least agree with CH that their switch in behaviour towards him was sudden. I understand he feels like he was suddenly dropped like a hot potato by everyone when they previously supported his cause.
I also found YMs fathers line very true: you cant wake a man from sleeping that is pretending to sleep...but I feel that also applied to the FL a little bit not only CH. This is a smart critique of taking responsibility..if you dont want to take responsibility for your own fate you find excuses outside of yourself...to make it seem like stuff just happens to you and lies outside of your influence...which is a cop out.

Listen, I love this drama to bits and am fully committed to watching to the end but the writer dropped the ball…
I agree it feels shoehorned in. In LGIEF they did something similar with the father and that worked really well because it was introduced early but here its like: fearing death is not really plausible for her especially since she just survived a cliff jump lets give her something outside of her self to fear otherwise she cant keep rejecting him.

Side note: Some argue the FL’s actions are justified. But tell me—what reasonable person stabs someone in…
In general I hate that FL in chinese Dramas are way to trigger happy alsways stabbing first ask questions later...its really toxic and something only FLs get away with. YM also lacks compassion to his getting hirt all the time especially when its for her sake...and I also hate she makes fun of his wartime experiences and says he does it for fame and ego ...nobody goes to war for fun and fight against really bad odds for ego or because they want to.....she is like a spoiled brat that has never faced anything harsh or serious which is grating whether she likes the ML or not...its just such an ugly blasse attitude towards the suffering of others in general which makes it hard to sympathize with her own fears. She is the most self centered character in this story by far. When she talks of the suffering of others or ordinary people its always just because it serves her and her agenda never because she truely cares about others at all.

I thinknyou are right but it is preciesly what happens in teal.life and drama.all the time
People hide behind not javing a choice and become comfortable with the horrible things they do. They justify it to themselves comfortably...just like the FL does. ML has a lot more growth and is more human and real than her...maybe the show will adress this later. That to be a person means to act human and responsably not just be transmigrated. FL has one giant double standard for herself.and for others. Also one important lesson to be learned is to judge somebody for what they actually do not what they might do because that is an injustice. I am kinda hoping that somebody will treat her the way she treats ML so that she feels the unfairness. Id like it if he gives up on her and also asumes she will only do and believe the worst of him so why try. I want her to feel what its like when nobody expects anything but the worst of you .
