I thought this series was light, fun and cute. Something not too serious with lots of good eye candy. And, my god, the location shoots on the island are gorgeous!
This a a cute 'light' BL series that's focus is more on the dynamic interaction of all the friends/characters in the story. A cornucopia of good looking Thai actors. I watched on iQIYI and the subs were a little awkward, like the translator(s) were not great at English....but you get the gist of what is going on. It feels like it was maybe originally a much longer series that was cut in half and maybe squashed down due to time/cost or whatever. I got the vibe they wanted to do so much more with all these characters.
Not sure why so many hate on this series unless people just came from watching KinnPorsche and now expect all BL series to be at that level or something???..... :D You all need to calm down. :D Sure, this little series isn't going to win any awards, but it was entertaining and had enough queer in it to make me happy.
Also, if your bf is a private detective, there are no secrets :D
Anyway......just finished watching this. And damn....am I surprised at how good this was. I absolutely LOVED all the damn characters in it, including the wife at the beginning with her 'confession' (you go girl!). No one is innocent. No one is perfect. So many flaws. We are who we are and I think this series captured that. Such great direction and cast and cinematography. Sure, it is not fluffy....but it is so REAL. And hot damn the chemistry is good also. The ending is so open ended. They are so flawed, but you just know Imagase can't help but coming back....
Isn't one of the production companies Youku? I wish they'd put it up on Youku channel on Youtube or something. Anyone know what region it is on in the Viki Rakuten app? Or maybe Netflix will pick it up; aren't costume dramas like super popular for them? lol
Need help. So I barely got through the first half of the first ep. Suicide is a strong trigger for me. It was so eerily well done that it made it even worse. Like, I am ok if it is just referenced off screen (or indirect scenes with less detail), but having it played out in a lot of detail is so different; I really can't watch it. But so many people keep telling me it is one of their favorite series. Is it possible to keep going with this? How often is the suicide part thrown into view or a part of the story? Is it possible to watch this and to avoid those sections? If so, can you warn me what eps or sections of eps to avoid? Or is it a lost cause to try to watch this? I really had a difficult time with ep 1. Please be honest, guys. Thanks in advance for any advice/input <3
Is this series somehow related to HIStory4: Close to You? In DNA Says Love You in Li Ching Lung and Guan Yu Chen’s…
lol! That is awesome. I'll have to look for it on rewatch! I bet, if so, that it is an easter egg or a "shout out" to the other drama. I mean, it seems like Li and Guan would LOVE that series anyway ;D They had some shout outs to other dramas from other countries like "Crash Landing on you" and even "Lost". Just look at all the items in Le's room ;D Anyway....that is a nice one you noticed!....I totally missed that! Damn! It makes me also want to pause a lot more in Le and Guan's apt to see what other little goodies there are :)
So, I know we all love the 3 couples but do you think PeteVegas are more popular than the main couple? I saw a…
I think they had some really good eps toward the end, so of course their popularity will increase. I just get the strong vibe that they are going to lead into strong characters in a season 2 if we do indeed get it. I mean, the series has most eps focused on Kinn and Porsche, so I argue that they are still the MOST popular since it is THEIR show ;) Plus lets not forget eps 1 thru 5 which show a lot of strong emotion for Kinn/Porche. But i think that Vegas and Pete have such an interesting story, which is different than the mains.....which is EXACTLY the best thing to have. for them. We don't need all their stories to be the same; that's BORING. I just love all the couples!
Overall, it was a great series. It really emphasized the ignorance of society when it comes to intersex anything or even an understanding of human development in general. It had two very different intersex characters interacting and navigating life as teenagers.
Though, three things bothered me a lot:
1) What I don't understand, is after Haru told his school he was IS (thus breaking the promise), why did he still keep wearing the stupid girl's uniform after that? Kinda pointless to keep the charade going. Just seemed absurd.
2) Who'd feel safe being in the same room as Miwako's mom after all that?!?!? Seriously?!?!?!!
3) Just because a child likes to play with 'boy' toys instead of 'girl' toys (like what is that even?), it doesn't magically mean they are a boy (or identify as a boy). There is copious amounts of data that show it says nothing of how a child will grow up identifying as or who they will be attracted to. That is ridiculous stereotype that needs to die already. So ignorant; stop perpetuating it. C'mon!
Yes. It is a happy ending. But You go into the last eps thinking it won't be and you cry a lot...but then it slams you with a good ending where they do end up together :) If that helps you :)
I binged this last night and today. I hardly cry while watching BLs. It was an absolute gem that had me in tears…
The mom scene.... what really got me was how Le was saying that he couldn't treat Amber as 'just a friend' now that he knows how he feels. about Amber. My heart. Sooooooo goooooooood.

Honey, some of us like both. It's not so simple;)
