Alright....starting in ep 8, things got more interesting. I was starting to get bored, so am pleasantly surprised. They put all the best bits in eps 8 and 9. I appreciated that the main story arch finally got some focused attention. I guess I cared less about the BL part of the story since the tropey BL stuff was WAY too awkward for my taste. But it cool if that's your thing :) Overall, the series is worth a watch so long as you have some caffeine to get you through the long dragged out boring stuff in middle....and just fast forward through all the Hongye stuff.....she grated on my last nerve and added nothing to the story.....unless her character's purpose was to be a very poorly written 'red herring' that the writers just abandoned or forgot about? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First off, Hongye is the most irritating and annoying female in a BL I have ever seen. I am sure the actress is a sweetheart, but damn....I HATE the character. And the awkward scenes are so annoying to me.... UGH. I feel like I am forcing myself to finish this drama..... Why is this series just not vibing with me at all.....

Series all speak to us differently. It could just be where we are in life, our experiences, mood at the time, tastes etc. Like what you like. There is no right/wrong here. Just keep in mind that people tend to complain more loudly than compliment.....so don't worry about naysayers;)

What a dream cast! Still gonna hope this might be released some day. We can have our dreams :)

What an interesting thread to find here! Love the sharing of info. Yeah, laws and societal expectations/ideas are varied around the world. For legal reasons, it is often safer for minors to have sex with one another (since they can't legally be jailed for it), and for legal adults to stay clear of them (we call sexually active minors 'jail bait' for this reason) since it isn't worth it. Yeah, for me the age gap with a MINOR is only awkward due to local laws regarding it, but age gap with adults is fine. I have an Aunt/Uncle who are 11 years apart: Aunt was 20 and he was 31 when first met. They have similar interests/careers and have been married over 20 years still ;) People are different.

update: Zu Qi Zhang's apt with his mom in another Taiwanese drama 'About Youth' ....is same apartment that Li & Guan share. Those same pipe/wooden shelves on wall and that same red/white good luck statue sitting on it....and the giant map poster over couch :D Same Desk. Too funny.

I don't worry too much about this. Taiwanese dramas give shout outs to other Taiwanese dramas. It just feels like a fun thing they do....even it it is just a similar poster on a wall in someones room (at minimum) or an actor from one appearing briefly in another (at max). I feel like it is fun for fans who notice these details..... like Easter eggs :)

Maybe it is to highlight that sometimes the little nice things we do for strangers can come back around to us since those strangers can become future friends/family/allies?

Why does every Taiwanese drama have an awesome OST?!?! Such a great series! Loving it so far (half way through).

OMG. Auntie still looks like the girl from Hunger Games. And most of the actors are the same; fun seeing them 2 years later...... Enjoying This! i am here for the drama and angst ;)

Some of the best kiss/intimate scenes I have seen in BLs. So lovely. Great chemistry from these actors. Much respect.

yay! Korean Suits is so underrated. So glad you liked! Devil Judge is definitely the BEST, but you totally see what I mean about the connection between the two male leads! :)

I mean even hetero couples in Japanese series do simple kiss. But could just be a cultural thing maybe....don't show too much PDA :D Idk.....

I just finished this also. I enjoyed this overall, but I totally agree about the awkward does-not-make-much-sense forced drama-for-the-sake-of-drama thing in those two eps before the last one. It just felt unnecessary. Last ep redeemed itself at least. I rate it a little higher than you since the two leads had a lot of great chemistry; they seemed super comfortable with one another and no awkward crap as if they never kissed another person before :D And the all the eps when they were first dating was super cute ;) I totally loved the supporting couple also; loved having the daughter around, cheering them on.
