I loved all the foreshadowing in this series. For example, one of my favorites is of the little kids all talking at the beginning of ep3, eating that orange dessert. Yuhe and Ah Le were teasing Wenwen for believing that the Nunnery story was real, and Wenwen was sad that they couldn't make wishes and have them come true. But Ah Le told Wenwen, "Then tell me your wish and I'll make it come true." OMG.....so cute. This is really hinting to the last episode :)

Do you guys have any more examples of foreshadowing in general or any that you specifically liked or noticed?

I'll just jump to the "kisses" part: I watched this series after watching 3 Chinese mainland romantic dramas in a row.....which we ALL KNOW are notorious for bad kissing scenes. So when I came to this cute series, the kissing was GREAT! lol But I can TOTALLY understand if you came to it after watching say 3 romantic stories from Thailand, for example ;P
I think it was sweet and a little awkwardness/inexperience actually matches the characters personalities. :)

But you are spot on getting that 'sibling' vibe I think. I did also, so I am glad I am not only one. I mean, they ARE childhood friends who have known each other FOREVER. So I think that does come into play in their actions and comfort level. I agree, it maybe does not have a lot of sexual tension like MOST BL stories....but it might be also why I kinda like it. I like sweet and simple and cute and fluffy. I don't always need it smacked into my face, smothering me. HA! Lust and love are two different things; sexual tension tends to be driven from lust and hormones more than anything (less has to do with love). I feel like this series emphasizes the 'love' part more which ties into interaction and shared experiences and values and relating/understanding/empathizing to someone whether that is emotionally or spiritually....

But I did feel some sexual tension and chemistry between them. Mostly for early part of series it is from Amber heavily (like whenever Ah Le grabbed his arm or touched him at all really) , but you get those subtle scenes where Ah Le is noticing....but he is a kinda clueless so clearly is not hugely aware of what it means.....until later in story (Though I feel Ah Le was TOTALLY flirting with Amber when they were on his motorbike together.....It was like Ah Le noticed Amber's awkwardness and found it cute so he was MORE interactive/maybe-aware-ish than usual....but who knows! But seriously, look at that 'knowing' smile on Ah Le's face after he made Amber hug him; and notice that brief eyebrow raise of Amber's right after.....like even Amber is legit thinking "Is he flirting with me?!" Hahahaha!). That morning after Amber spent nite at his place was sooooooo awkward and filled with LOTS of tension, even cuter because Amber is wearing Ah Le's bigger shirt! LOVED IT. Ah Le was so hyper-aware of Amber....it was like he got an electric shock when Amber touched his hair! Then that "almost kiss" scene was really good chemistry wise until Ah Le brain started thinking too much! Alas! But I have gone back and rewatched the whole series at least 5 times now, so THAT could very well be why I am noticing this more?

Translation thing. Mandarin does not have gendered pronouns like English, so the characters in the story are not misgendering. It would have been good if the translator might have been more sensitive to that so could have done it in such a way to correct for that in the English, but the translator may not even be aware of it. Whenever Wenwen's name was mentioned, the translator just automatically used she/her. The translator would have to be aware of the story more to know when to shift to he/him....or just to use they/them to get rid of the gendered pronouns all together.

If you listen closely when they speak, you will hear them say Wenwen or "ta" 他 (tā). "Ta" is equivalent to he, her and it. There is no gendering there.

Yeah, I was thinking trans at first also until the reveal. But intersex is also a rarely explored story, so I ended up liking it. Depending on specific circumstances, there is some overlapping trauma/questions/fears/stigma/etc with Amber's story and say someone who is trans. I think they may be able to relate more intimately to Amber's situation than others, especially on the re-evaluation of ones identity and navigating that in the complex social human world.

Yay! They DID go full circle with that whole story of the 'fairy couple' and the temple!

The "missed you so much" is what really got me..... I could just FEEL the years of pain/longing in that :(

Also, did you notice that Yuhe ONLY ever scolds Ah Le, even if both boys are up to mischief? HA! Nice touch; like Amber can do no wrong! Just love that friend (very strong sibling vibe) dynamic with them!

OMG, his smiles were so big and bright that I needed sunglasses to watch the last 5 min!

Wow. So yeah. This is one of the most deeply moving series I have watched in a long time. So cute and fluffy and sweeeeeeet! It is so rare for me to actually watch a series as it aired, waiting patiently for a new ep each week. Each episode just kept getting better and more interesting and more engaging. The whole mystery was fun to try to figure out. I was fully hooked and immersed into the story with its beautiful cinematography and music. Such a lovely series that I will never forget.

On iQIVI itself it is rated so far as 9.4 out of 10.

Me scared too! I really hope his mom won't be an issue at all..... hoping for a quick resolution of that so we can move on to focus on just he boyz the last ep! AND DAMMIT I WANT ONE GOOD KISS ;)

guys guys.... did you all notice when Le ASKED Amber if he could call him Wenwen, but Amber shook his head and said he wanted to be called Amber.? And Le just was like ok....no big deal....'Amber" it is.....? Just the level of respect there was so nice.

I agree with what Bri73 said. I also think that Le is more nervous/shy/awkward than anything else. Le is an inexperienced baby..... Amber would realize this more without his pesky insecurities fogging up his mind, screaming for attention ; P Le really likes Amber; it was clear for me at least. Le also chased after Amber (notice Amber's little smile when he turned and realized it was Le....right before car hit him), and Le also stayed with him at the hospital all night. Le is just just an awkward goofy boy! But Amber is gonna love him anyway!

Yeah, after going back and rewatching the earlier eps, it is so clear NOW that the 'side couple' is so important as an example with many little parallels to the 'main couple' navigating the beginnings of a relationship. The writing was so good there, but I really appreciate it more on rewatch.

I'd sooooo watch these two characters/actors in a spin off maybe covering Yuhe and her falling in love! lol

Yeah.... I feel like this series is too short so we get less detail. My feeling is that Le just never thought much about it maybe? He clearly really liked Wenwen (who he thought was a girl) and there was definitely feelings popping up for Amber (who is a guy). So Le may just never contemplated this too much? I legit assumed Le to be bisexual at first (or maybe he is gay but never realized since his first love was unknown to him, a guy). Maybe he was just waiting for Wenwen the one person he had always liked who coincidentally was a 'girl'. This also may be why he seems hesitant/confused/unsure of his own orientation, especially when he finds out Wenwen/Amber looked like a girl but was really a guy. Honestly, I just thought Le was bisexual....but one with little experience ;) I do get, despite his confusion, that he does love Amber.....he just is a goof ball and doesn't know how to go about 'wooing' or interacting with the one he loves. Like with that whole almost-kiss he pulled away from. I really just think Le was nervous/shy (probably from inexperience).....and he is a goof ball. It was just unfortunate since Amber comes with a lot of insecurities that Le sadly may not understand completely. And you are so right, I feel, about Le's "what am I doing!" reaction! My partner is a little goofy and clue-less and not romantic either, so I guess I can understand that personality type in Le. But just because he is that way, doesn't mean that Le won't love deeply and try his best to make his partner happy.

Yeah.... it is a lot. Not sure how this will play out. I am hoping that the mom talk will be super short (and not a big deal) considering how you stated earlier how it really will be a non-issue with her. Then rest of ep is just our boys ;)
