i was starting to like her a lot too. and when she said she thought (even if it was only for a little bit) that…
This is exactly what is worrying me. I was hoping Ah Le would realize his feeling for Amber and confess first BEFORE ever finding out that Amber was Wenwen. That way Amber really understood that Ah Le saw him as Amber and loves who he is in the present. But Yuhe had to go and ruin that, albeit what seemed like good intentions in her mind. But DAMN. Amber just needed some time.....just a little.......not like it was gonna take years. Geeeeeeez.
Can someone explain if this is BL? And is Amber really a transgender male? If so then that's cool bc I'm also…
It is definitely BL with this mystery of how this person is related to another person in the past. Of course, as the eps are airing, everyone was speculating on what that mystery is....and it seemed like transgender male was slowly getting to be the consensus (if you watch it, I think you will understand why this was so), but then they surprised us with intersex, which is rare to see in these kinds of stories, and like @AthenaTheStorierX has stated, they have been very respectful and sensitive so far, so we are all hoping for a good ending over the next few episodes. It has some of your standard tropes you see/expect in BLs, but it goes beyond that into more interesting territory....and as each new ep comes out, I am more and more in awe with just how GOOD this is. It is a sweet series, so expect a slower slice-of-life vibe with some fun cinematography here and there. Also the music is fantastic!
Note on cinematography in this series: You notice how a lot of shots are done through a mirror? I noticed it a lot more on my re-watch of all the episodes. It got me to speculating on the reason they did this and the meaning. A 'mirror image' is the concept of opposites where one object resembles another.....just in reverse. And at that simplistic level, it kind of is a 'reflection' of Amber with his present and past: opposites or duality maybe? That these two persons in time are really the same person, like how the reflection of yourself in a mirror is really you, just opposite. Any deep thinkers have any thoughts regarding this or the mirrors/cinematography?
I think everyone's overthinking it. Amber was used to interacting with Le Chien as a female, and he he's in love…
Yeah. I think they allude to some issues/topics, but due to the sweetness of the show, I don't think they will go into details. It is really just important (at this stage) they are bring awareness to the masses :)
Having just watched ep 9; then rewatching whole series: Is it just me.....or does Yuhe's older brother possibly know intuitively about Amber/Wenwen? It is bugging me so much; in many scenes, it is like he KNOWS. He even pulls his sister Yuhe back multiple times from following the boys..... Or maybe I am reading too much into things at this late hour.....
As for the physical body, depending on when he was finally able to get approved and into more intensive treatment…
Oh good point! On the most simplistic level it could just be a reflection of Amber's insecurities of KNOWING he is different.....and it just bleeds off into his reaction. UGH. This gives me pain.
First... wow. Kudos for even attempting to tackle a subject like this, and more kudos for doing it fairly well.…
I'm gonna guess it is a translation thing. "Chromosomal abnormality" is at least doable for me anyway. It also bothered me to call it an 'illness'. It would be better described as a "genetic disorder" maybe. "Inherited disease" makes it sound like one of his parents had a chromosomal abnormality that got transferred to him. Maybe that implies XXY or he is mosaic for XX and XY (learned about mosaicism in genetics courses in college) or something...... idk. The translations or choice of phrasing here might be a cultural/society thing where they are trying to get a larger audience to look at intersex.....or explain it in such a way to emphasize that it is a medical thing. Idk. I try to not overthink translations. :)
Guys guys.... so after finishing ep 9, I went back and rewatched all the previous episodes, and WOW did I slam into some possible parallels for the future of our cute (yet sad) Amber. Let me know what you think!
So in ep 7 when they all found Xiao Li by the sea, Ah Guan says the following to his lover Xiao Li: "I thought it might be a pleasant surprise but meanwhile, I was also afraid that you'd be mad. Because I hadn't told you earlier. So I kept delaying it. I really didn't mean to keep you in the dark. I just didn't know how to tell you."
OMG. I...... just....... can't........ It so speaks of Amber's head space also.
And then Xiao Li tells Ah Guan: "I'm so scared. I'm scared you may leave me." Then look closely at the next shot of Amber in the ep..... that actor is so good!
Anyway..... just contemplating and wasting time until ep 10. Can't wait.

Intersex can have a long range of phenotypes....and he could very well have had all the ducts and other breast tissue there.....so removing it might have been an option so look masculine. I am going to assume this show won't go into Amber's personal details so we can only guess.... Even in trans men, just taking hormones doesn't get rid of the underlying hardware, so surgery is an option to help with that. There are more to breasts than just fat ;)
i actually loved what the secret turned out to be. its a whole lot better than reincarnation anyways and it makes…
I am pleasantly surprised also that the series went this way. I am really loving this series so far! The mystery was really engaging and I really enjoyed all the comments from everyone trying to solve it before the reveal; it made it even more fun!
Wow, I think you are WAY out of line here. I am fascinated that you want to know all the details of plot and characters…
If you read carefully in the rules for descriptors, it clearly says that they CANNOT be spoilers. Putting 'intersex' is clearly a spoiler since the whole mystery of the story is for the viewer to try to figure out how the little girl Wenwen is connected to the adult male Amber. Also, Gay is totally accurate for this series.
Wow... people in the UK are just as mean, cruel and vile as people in America... People really need to stop being…
Cruel people are everywhere in every country. And teenagers can be especially cruel if they want to be. Likewise, there are caring and nice people in every country also, so lets focus on that :)
