Hello ! I am following this comment section right from the starting of this drama and there were many instances where I wanted to share my two cents in here but never did unlike today when the drama is in its last week I needed to take some things off my chest so I had to create an account! I apologize for this long ass essay.
1) The RomCom issue : I thought people used to watch a drama based on the synopsis provided or by the trailer that is produced but here in MDL people decide to give it a shot depending on some mere "tags"?! LND serves a beautiful aromatic romcom main dish along with an equally beautiful appealing mixed genres of side dishes which in my opinion elevates the entire taste and experience of the drama. People are saying they have been ripped off the romcom parts but in reality if ya'll would have actually seen the casts interviews in all the shows they went in for promotion ya'll would have known that they never emphasized the genre as romcom alone. Haein described LND as " romance , comedy , family , drama , healing , mellow , friendship ; messy and fun , there are heart moving things inserted , a combination of tears and laughters. Even the SFL took a firm stand on wanting people not to solely focus on romcom cuz this drama offers a harmonius melody of every other genre and lastly Somin quoted " I think it (this drama) would really comfort our youth who are exhausted with life " and you bet it did cuz watching a straight romance with no depth no plots is a failed investment of my time but LND gave us a well balanced meal to savour and many people including me are eating it up!
2) If you decide to give a drama your time you should let it marinate for atleast 3-4 episodes before forming opinions. Like some dramas are slow paced but with each ep they strike your heart strings till the end while some take off from the first ep only to fall flat the rest of the eps so before throwing hate atleast watch the drama attentively and then comment and if you are still not hooked you can slide in your opinion and walk out the door it is that simple but people here who hate the drama cuz of their own formed expectations camp out in the comment section just to throw in shade and hatred and even shooing people off who wants to try this drama saying its not worth the viewers time based on their personal opinion like bro let people decide for themselves and politely LEAVE!!
3) We have the freedom of speech but that doesn't mean you have the right to sneak in your hate disguised as an opinion like people are being so weird when you guys hate on this drama that is valid criticism but when people who actually watch and love this drama they come in as defence you people say we cannot take other people opinions? You know what , We are civil enough to respect valid opinions and constructive criticism but obviously we will riot if you constantly make derogatory comments even without watching the actual drama but forming your choice of words based on some snippets alone. Also rating each ep with a horrible score even before the episode comes out screams psychotic and MDL should really do something about that smh😑!
4) Now coming to the story IT IS NOT POORLY/BADLY WRITTEN ! The writer have done quite a good job in storytelling and making the story as raw and real as possible! All the events that come about feels so realistic to the point that I think it portrays the story of my neighbourhood friends and am heavily invested in them. Rather than allowing the cringe romances from the get-go to enter the door , the writer has smartly opened up all the windows for the air of angst , slow burn and slice of life to come into the room . I may have had some instances where I think the writing could have been improved and perfected but nonetheless I think if a drama captures your heart , remain in your head rent free and pop up in your thoughts on the busy days that drama is a SUCCESS !
Last but not the least Haein and Somin have truly brought their top tier acting in this drama. Right from the parents , second leads , other supporting characters to the kid actors each one of them added their own flair into making this drama interesting. The friends to lovers trope b/w Choisseung - Seokryu warms my heart and make me want to fall in love at times , while the chemistry b/w Haein - Somin makes me go crazy right off the bat and I do hope this chemistry/friendship of theirs lead to a fruitful outcome in the real life as well.
